ℹ️ About this episode:
On this episode of LivinRvision, we visit leave the the Thousand Trails Hershey RV Resort and make our way to a town called, Jim Thorpe, PA. It is also known as the Switzerland of America and what used to be the second most tourist place in America.
Formerly known as Mauch Chunk, A Leni Lenape Indian name which means "Bear Mountain." The town is a mixture of Victorian architecture and unique businesses and a graceful blend of yesterday with today. The scenery is breathtaking as the mountains present a new face every season. The steep hillsides, narrow streets, and terraced gardens earned Mauch Chunk the nickname “The Switzerland of America.”
We also share some History about the man that this town is now named after, Jim Thorpe.

Great video! I was the Car Host in the dome car the day you rode. A friend who watches your channel regularly let me know about this video. We've had some bad luck with the weather in Jim Thorpe these past few months, and I'm sorry you were disappointed with the views from the train. It is a really spectacular route with the Fall Foliage which is hitting peak colors now, and also in the winter you get to see much more of the river once the leaves are off the trees. Still I'm glad you got to experience the area for the first time. Jim Thorpe is a unique and special place, and I enjoy seeing the perspectives others have of the area. Enjoy your travels!

We went to Jim Thorpe a couple of years ago. We did the train that you rode up and then rode your bike back down 25 MILES. WHAT WERE WE THINKING!!! It was beautiful. Love that drive out of the Hershey Thousand Trail park. Great video.

Marvelous visit and narrative of the Jim Thorpe, PA. area, and the surrounding mtns. Loved this video of Jim Thorpe. We were there 2 years ago for our anniversary. Beautiful town but like you, was disappointed in the train ride. Wasn't what we had hoped it would be, but still nice to relax for a bit see a little of the scenery. Would have loved for it to have been a longer ride in the train. Enjoy LivingRVision...we are retired and want to travel, too. ❤

Come out to Washington State to see gorgeous mountains in the North Cascades. Leavenworth, WA is as pretty as Jim Thorpe, PA with far more beautiful mountainous scenery and more like the Alps. I have lived in both areas and definitely choose the mountains in Washington. However riding a train in the Poconos is a great birthday activity. Happy Birthday!

It depends, lol. Sometimes we are very spontaneous and don’t plan ahead so much especially in this GrechRV van. We can be very nimble. If we know of a destination that we definitely want to see we will plan ahead a few months.

Saying this to promote your channel. Let people know you make money if everybody watches you video to the end. Give a thumbs up and you make money. Watch the ads to the end, you make money. ( sorry, if ads are over 2 minutes hard to do ) . You have no control over ads put on site. Bottom line : If you do not help with some of these 3 things, how can you expect them to keep giving you these videos? Would you put in 40 hrs. a week for no pay? I didn't think. Neither should they. Support them, watch the ads, at least hit the like ( thumbs up ) button .

Happy birthday, Brian! Looks like a cold, wet day you suffered on our behalf. We also enjoy the Tampa Super Show. We live only a short drive from the fairgrounds where it is held. What we don’t like is the price of the food: last show we had two way overcooked burgers with soggy fries and two sweet teas for nearly $70! Ridiculous!
