I’m always nervous someone will steal Peño because he’s so cute & sweet! My husband & I love him. When we are walking around (we live in NYC) & see a dog that looks like him we are always like “Peñooo! A Peño dog!”
I was fifteen (fifteen!) when I was walking through my neighborhood, a residential area, heading to my friends house when a car pulled over and a man rolled down his window. He started asking for directions but it was hard to hear him, when I got closer to the car I could see he was quite proud to show me that he could pleasure himself anywhere. I remember he was looking at my face waiting for my reaction, so I did my best not to react. Just acted bored and walked on my way. I'm sorry you have to deal with the crud. I've really been enjoying these video's you're sharing with us. The every day type stuff you put in really helps me feel included in your journey. Wishing you safe travels Susi!
That's the best thing we can do as women show no reaction and get away as fast and as safely as possible. These men are looking for a reaction and even get off on upsetting women. It's a sick world out there but there are also lots of respectful and kind people too. Its definetly a mixed bag.
Suzy, those flexible Solar panels need some way to dissipate the heat, so glueing them down to the roof will not make them work efficiently. I had to glue a 1.5 inch flat screw with a big washer to the roof of my van, then use a one inch spacer to let the panel have a way to dissipate the heat. I put another spacer and a lock washer on the top of each eye-lid on the solar panel. The can release the heat and work more efficiently. Hope that helps???

Honestly sucks that you have to go through it, that’s what makes me scared to do Van life but even if I’m not in van life it happens with multiple women, bc there are sick men out there. So keep living it up Suzi you always inspire me to do the van life

It’s important to talk about those types of unpleasant encounters. I think a lot of van lifers/ car dwellers don’t talk about those types of situations enough. I believe that they go through the same things as you as well, they just don’t address it because it isn’t as pretty as showing a good time. If people only show and speak of their good experiences then it gives people an unrealistic view of what life is really like on the road. That film you are watching, it’s the story of the writer Alan Bennett and the lady is played by Maggie Smith, out of Downton Abbey, it’s a true story of something that happened in his life where the lady parked on his drive and never left for years and years and what happened to her. Very funny in parts. She parked there in the 1970’s and stayed for 15 years!
I absolutely love you Susi. I'm in my first year of college have been having a quarter life crisis but your videos have helped me so much. I have thought about van life and traveling so much but now I'm actually doing it. My first experience will be this summer as I'm saving up for a van and driving to Alaska from mid-USA. Hi Susi! A couple of simple things to do after you apply moisturizer or sun protection to your face- include your neck and chest, then simply wipe the remainder on the back of your hands, it will become a habit in no time. Our hands, face and chest see the most of the elements. I wish someone would have told me to protect my neck, chest and back of my hands when I was young. Thanks for sharing!

Susy bad stuff happens to everyone, I am a home owner and big shit happens. BIG shit. We feel like we are constatly facing a crysis. Our perspective changes everything. We need to keep in mind what really counts. In your case, you are healthy, strong, resourceful, making incredible experiences and memories.

“What u r, u attract”. U attract what u think about most of the time, the stronger the emotion (positive or negative) will increase the attraction. Your positivity or personal development audio talks about this - Jim Rohn, Bob Proctor, Tony Robbin etc. Thats why when you lost your van in that accident, you had 6 months of negativity. Cause your mind was focus on negative outcome.( its hard to get out of the spiral of negative). When life is good, you seem to attract more good. When lofe is bad, you seem to attract more of that.

I’d love to do more traveling but I would have to have somewhere to come back to (I’m just that kind of person) and I’d love to go traveling with friends. I’m more of a social person and also it would provide me with a little more safety I think :) love watching these vlogs :)

a) I get unsolicited critical advice all the time. Just ignore it as best you can b) I have a mobile job in a large van and I don't welcome strangers to approach me and I get creepos doing weird stuff on the regular or just strangers wanting to have a random chat... Most are harmless but some have bad intentions to expose themselves or touch me, or solicit me, I don't let the odd bad experience stop me from doing things on my own or I would miss out on half the things I like to do.

Hi Susi! Looks like a lovely day. I think that there are just creepy men here and there and as a woman alone it's scary sometimes. I think if anything maybe just ask the universe or your higher power to always protect and guide you. I believe you are intuitive like me and while we are mostly carefree we are also careful and smart. I think that having a light pink van might attract more creeps just because of the feminine color or just being out alone. I try not to be friendly to men. I wont make eye contact or smile. Ive been in some very bad and dangerous situations as a result of being carefree and trusting. I'd be careful even with women. You never know someone elses intention and regardless of gender I personally would meet in a place outside your van only in day light hours. Your van is for you and while it's your home its also your safe haven. So just continue doing what you are doing and if anything consider not allowing others inside and also painting your van a blank color. Best, Joy I want to add, I'm editing this that it is not your fault that this has happened to you Susi, it just happens sometimes. Never blame yourself and as far as painting your van a new color forget I said that if it doesnt resonate with you. One thing you can do is be slightly dishonest and tell people you meet you are traveling with your boyfriend or even say a friend. It's not a lie because you have your dog and he is like a person. I would refrain from telling people you are alone. Make them believe someone is back at the van or nearby waiting up for you and expecting you home. Be safe out there and even if that means waiting till you're far away from the town you were in to post your next video. Please dont share your current location of where you are headed. Be vague.

Hi Susi, these yellow beans in portuguese we call it "tremoço", in french "lupin" and in english "lupine". I love it! :-) In Portugal there is a dessert called "baba de camelo", have you tried it? ;-)
