In this episode of @nextleveloz we do one of our Big Lap bucket list items and take the Defender and Van up onto Cape York Peninsula.
How far do we get and how does the Peninsula Development Road rate compared to the Gibb River Road and the Savannah Way at Hell's Gate?
On our way out of Mareeba we stock up on fresh coffee beans, then off to the Cape. We stop at Koolburra Station, Moreton Telegraph Station and Bramwell Junction Roadhouse. We do part of the Old Telegraph Track which the Defender does easily, before trying to take the van up 7km of the northern section of the old Telegraph track to Eliot Falls - but how does the rig go?
As a correction 🤦♂️, we say “Canal Creek” on the section to Eliot falls when it should be Scrubby Creek. Sorry for that. We will correct it on the next episode .
Welcome to Episode 37 of our Big Lap Gap Year. We're David and Paula @nextleveloz. Like many of you, we've worked hard for 40 years, but we are too young to retire. So we're taking a gap year from work, we've bought our first ever caravan and are doing a Big Lap around Australia taking in the iconic destinations of our fabulous country.
This channel is for fun and to share our trip of a lifetime and 100% of any ad revenue earned goes to charity.
We'd love your comments, questions and tips. We hope you will like and subscribe and we look forward to sharing our journey around this magnificent country.
