We've been living in our 2010 Mercedes Sprinter for almost a year now and decided it's time we finally post up a tour of our home on wheels.
Our layout includes a standard double Murphy bed, which allows us to have an open living area with plenty of space and head room, without compromising on having bed that is always made.
This is our second van build, so a lot of our decisions were based on how things worked for us and the way we lived and travelled in our first van - which was much smaller.
We hope you enjoy the tour, and please feel free to ask any questions about our van and lifestyle by commenting, and we'll be sure to answer as best we can

Very nice build guys. Loved the white and brown colour palette. Also, that Kings fridge has a much better thermostat controller than a Bushman's😅 That bed layout is pure genius.

A watch a lot of Van builds and they are fantastic and I’m currently looking at buying the same sprinter model as yours CDI 516 LWB with dual rear wheels but it’s a 2011 model and I would like to know if my van would be overweight with this set up Camper Van Set Up Bullbar Roof Rack Awning Snorkel UHF Clearview Towing Mirrors Kitchen Shower 120 Litre Waceo Fridge 2nd Battery System Storage Box Food Cupboard Gas Stove Fan Clothes Shelves 240 V Inverter Curtains Double Bed Fly Screen Water Tap & Water Tank Clothing Line Storage Under Bed Solar Pannels TV Camping Equipment Fuel Tank - On Roof Outdoor Chairs - Under Bed Portable BBQ - Under Bed Water Tank - On Roof Tools - On Roof Umbrella - Under Bed MaxTrax - On Roof Spare Tyre - On Roof And I would also like to know how do you get wifi and internet in a camper van. How much food, drinks and clothes, quilts and bed covers do you need to take with you and how often do you’s do washing. How do you go travelling with a dog and where can the dog sit in the van when your driving between myself and partner michaela or on the bed in the van. My dog Is a chocolate lab. I’m 19 and Michaela (my partner) is 17 and we’re are about 60kgs and our dog is about 27kgs. Do you think I would be overweight with both of us and the dog aswell in the van and Mia just looks like my partner Michaela.

Hi. The van in this video weighs 3780kg the way it is set up and the max allowable is 5000kg so we have plenty of headroom. The 316 model would only have a carrying capacity of 3500kg so we would be overweight if we had one of those. Some of the 516 models only have a gvm of 4490kg in Australia. This is so people can drive them on a normal car license. Our van requires a light rigid truck license. The list of your build sounds similar enough to ours but would probably be a little bit heavier with the bullbar, and spare fuel on the roof etc. depending on your batteries whether they are AGM (heavy) or lithium (more capacity and half the weight) We just use our Telstra phone plans for mobile internet. There is pretty good coverage around towns but not much in remote areas. Other people use starlink to be connected all the time. We usually have about 2 weeks food on board and top up fresh food regularly whenever we need it. We have lots to space for clothes and bedding so carry enough for all seasons and store warm clothes away in the summer etc. We just rotate from easy to reach storage to hard to reach if we are not going to be using the items for a while. We have no experience with a dog but plenty of people do it

Thanks for watching, and great question. I will just add to what Ryan has said here: that it will depend on what your cupboards and bed is made of as well. For example if your bed is plywood and you have a spring mattress it would easily add an extra 100kgs. The same goes for water tank and spare fuel. Will depend on how big you’re talking. Don’t forget to take height and the amount of solar you require into consideration - especially if you plan on storing so much on the top. We’re currently working on some videos to help on these topics soon so keep an eye out for those. If you see the 4 overhead cupboards in the video down one side - all of our clothing and personal items fit in those apart from a couple of bulky items.

I am very sorry for your loss. God bless you both and your baby in heaven. What a beautiful van. Very roomy and practical. Would you please tell me the brand name of the heat proof foil paper that you have lined your air fryer. Also what brand is the air fryer.
@miaandryanadvantures
@miaandryanadvantures Месяц назад
Thank you Jennifer 💛 The lining isn’t really heatproof, but it’s the same thing we used for our insulation so as to keep the heat away from the benchtop. I don’t know the brand but it’s a cut-off of foil insulation (kind of like reflectix) - hope that helps!

That was a great van tour guys! Some excellent ideas you have used there. We have a Murphy Bed in our "mancave" Granny Flat back in Brisbane, and you're right, they are heavy! I was trying to figure out where you filmed this?

Thank you for watching 💛 We’ve loved watching your videos for a few years now, and even go back and watch older ones for research sometimes to get an idea of road conditions in places seeing as our sprinter is only 2WD. We actually re-watched your van tour one just a couple of days ago and had a laugh at some of the similarities between our videos 😂 unintentional I assure you haha! We filmed this at Dhilba-Innes NP on the Yorke Peninsula. Such a stunning place. Hope you’re enjoying Tassie!

Das better ist genial. Ist das ein Klavierband unten womit das befestigt ist oder sind da die Scheiben die sich drehen dran?

Thank you 😊 Yes we used only heavy duty piano hinges. We didn’t use any discs or rotating parts as we didn’t have enough space on each end of the bed. This is why we chose the piano hinges

I am doing my van build in June. I am building on the largest Sprinter. I would love to know about supplies and if money was no object what to would you do in your van? Do you have any work space? Do you have a roof rack or awning? Anything you can suggest?? I will have a wet bath and an oven. I want to have a place for an ebike. Just wondering what you do?? I'm sorry for your loss. I know what that is like. I had 8 kids after that so you will have the space for that once you are ready. Do you have an AC or heater?? Thanks so much I am new to you and enjoyed this video.

Hi Sheryl, thanks for watching. Great questions. I guess when it comes to building an adding all these extras money wouldn’t be my main concern - it would be making sure it came under the correct weight for its GVM capacity. However, we’ve personally chosen not to have a roof rack because 1. We have nothing extra to store, 2. It’s very high up and we would need a ladder to get up, and 3. We wanted the space to fit as much solar as we could while still having two fans. As for an awning, we dont have one at this point in time because we haven’t been able to find the right brackets in Australia to fit one due to the way we have fitted our solar panels. If we had a roof rack then it would be easier to fit an awning. Keep in mind those logistics when planning your build. I think it would be nice to have one later down the track when we stay in one place for a longer stretch. We move around quite a bit now so I can’t think of many places we would use it. It really depends how you travel personally. If money was no object then an awning would be great. The one we would be happy to get is about $4k. If I was storing an ebike I think it would be best to access it from the back under the bed on a slider for ease. The bed would need to be a little higher and it would need to be a fixed bed. Because you have the longest sprinter you would still have lots of room inside - I assume you mean the XLWB (ours is the LWB). We don’t have a work space as we don’t work right now but when editing videos I just pull out table out and use that. If I worked from the van then I would put a dedicated space in where our second kitchen bench is. I think if we had the longer van I would definitely put a wet bath in with a bidet style shower. I have a few space saving ideas in mind for one that would work really well and make draining easy. If money was no object we would put AC/heater in. We travel completely ‘off grid’ style and don’t plug in anywhere so we don’t have the capacity to run aircon, and we also stealth camp alot and aircon on the roof is so obvious 😆 If money was no object then we would have bigger battery capacity or stay in a powered site to run the aircon when we need it. Again, think of the space on your roof. If you plan on staying in caravan parks or powered campsites then you probably won’t need as much solar so the roof won’t be full of panels. We are working on more videos to answer questions like these and give you things to think about when starting your build, so please keep watching and if you have any more questions let us know. I hope this has helped 😊
@SherylKatz
@SherylKatz Месяц назад
@miaandryanadvantures This has helped thank you!! I am looking at a split cruise & comfort so no roof space. I am to be mostly off grid. A 2nd alternator that is anither way to charge a very large battery system. Hydronic heating and hot water, etc. I wonder why vans Don't have a disposal in the sink? It is easier in trash. You had propane I want both. I do not like induction. I will ha e one not built in and I am not sure which oven yet. Either Brava or a multi use oven. I love to cook so a suvi will work like your rice cooker but allows more options. Thank you so much!! I am watching and look forward to learning more 😊
