Through my personal experience I share information on how to buy a Vanagon for less money. Please help support my channel with a small donation www.paypal.me/...
You may find a van at an affordable price, however, keep in mind that these vehicles are at the very least 27 years old. I am finding that with that kind of age, regardless of mileage, parts break down from age, use and exposure and need to be replaced. In my opinion, if you want to buy a van, retain it for the long term, and have the least amount of maintenance hassles as is possible, be prepared to invest a lot of money to revamp all of the major systems, i.e. new engine ($10k+), new transmission ($3-4k), new tires/wheels/suspension/springs/shocks, new cooling system, new fuel lines, not to mention body and roof work... A person can buy a van for a cheap price, but without investing heavily in preventative maintenance, they should be prepared for system failures and will have to deal with them as those issues arise, sometimes in unfortunate circumstances.
What is affordable I know where a super nice one is old woman has it in her garage just been setting for at least 6 years I know of . I didn’t know these were a thing to have .
Back when I was in my late 20's (I'm 68 now) I bought a used '71 VW camper. It was relatively cheap as I could not afford much. It was slow, needed constant repair and I loved it! What was nice was I could do most of the repairs myself. I sold it when I got tired of driving around the country with no A/C. As much as I liked my camper, I would not buy one today. VW has not exported their van to the USA since 2003. This has contributed to driving the price up for those older vans. Today's prices are ridiculous! I'm not going to pay those prices for a 20-50 year old VW van that has a history of being unreliable. On a side note, Volkswagen is supposed to be exporting an all electric van to the USA in 2022. I'm curious to see what they will sell for. But if it's like most new vehicles, it will be more than I'm willing to pay.
It was local and on Facebook, I said I am only going to look at it....I am NOT going to buy it. No such thing as a cheap vanagon. Low miles, but neglected..what was I thinking ??
