I have never heard anything from you before, saw this being posted on Reddit as "Epic Folk Metal", which had me very interested as I really like the old Equilibrium (and am very sad about new Equilibrium). And yes, this is nice! This is what epic folk metal should sound like. And now I went to Spotify and looked through your songs, and I see your Mourning Palace cover! Which sounds great. And that made me remember that I saw a nice folk metal Mourning Palace cover on RU-vid around a year ago. And now that I look at your channel, that was yours! So actually, I have heard something from you before :P Now that I look at it again, the video quality of that cover back then was so much less impressive than this video here that I didn't immediately recognize it's the same band. Before I scrolled down after watching this video, I actually assumed I just watched some video on the Nuclear Blast YT channel with a few hundred thousand views, so it was surprising to see this is only at 3.3k views so far. You deserve more! Looking forward a lot fo the whole album. Also, I wish I'd understand the lyrics, but at the same time, one thing I really liked about old Equilibrium was that they had German lyrics which just fit great (well, I'm German). And I find it sad that they switched to English lyrics with their newer songs. So, while I wish your lyrics would be in English so that I can understand them, don't switch to English lyrics :P

Holy hell! So many bands want to make folk-metal and end up doing a cheap imitation of Finntroll or just heavy metal with keyboards on top - Vanaheim shows true commitment to composition and storytelling just within this one song. I am hooked!

Do you guys plan on getting signed by a label?? You guys deserve way more recognition, this album is a masterpiece! When I first heard you guys I thought you were signed by Napalm Records, because that's where alot of my favorite bands similar to you all are signed to, like Aephanemer, Aether Realm, Bodom After Midnight etc

Apple Music recommended this album to me when it came out and damn, this is one of the best albums I have ever heard.

Just a outstanding piece of music. I hear so many bands I love in it (Wintersun, Old Equilibrium....) and that on top level. I am really looking forward to hear the album on the 4th February. I like it very much.. but that could have been Equilibrium, or Ensiferum, or Wintersun, or.... I really like folk metal but I start to feel like it's all one band somehow.

Now that I've listened to the whole album multiple times, this is my first impression: It's great! If I could, I would immediately order it on Vinyl. My expectation was that it would be a mostly consistent album where every song sounds similar to Reuzenspraak, so I was surprised at first that that's not the case. Every song has like a totally unique sound - I normally quite enjoy when bands sound exactly the same on all their albums and all their songs. What you've done with Een Verloren Verhaal is a very creative approach where it's very hard to tell anyone "listen to this one song and you'll know what the band is about". That's probably something good! Reuzenspraak is my favorite song of the album, as it reminds me the most of the kind of epic folk metal that I listened to a lot over time (old Equilibrium etc), so doing a music video of that was a good pick. After that I'd put Onbevangen (I love especially the second half of it), then Gevallen in de Nacht (reminds me of Nightwish , which is something I would not have expected in a folk metal album) and then Uit Steen Geslagen. The other songs I don't really put in that ranking as they're not really metal songs, but I think the Folkestral songs are really awesome, they just don't fit a ranking with a different genre. My only criticism of the album would be that the metal part is a bit short, so I would have loved to see a few more than 4 metal songs. Maybe 2 more songs similar in style to Reuzenspraak, that would have been perfect. Or maybe 2 covers of other popular folk metal songs, that would have been great too (like a Blut im Auge cover). But when the only criticism of an album is that you wish there would be more songs, then it of course means the album is great! Will the album ever be released on Vinyl? I actually own neither a CD player nor a Vinyl player, I only use Spotify to listen to music, but I do like to buy the music I like to support the hands, and then I much prefer to buy the Vinyl version as it just look a lot better hanging on the wall than a CD :)
