My late brother and I loved Vance Joy... I just found a video he took at this concert while he played this song. I can hear my brother belting out the lyrics in the background 😢 I will forever love this song. Thank you Vance for bring joy to my brother while he was on this earth 😢
Both him and Edward Sharpe (and the Magnetic Zeroes) have this way of making music that puts you in that "movie scene" kind of place. If you're laying in bed listening to them you wish you were outside making memories that their songs could be the soundtrack to. If you're out and about you wish you could take a second and lay in bed and listen like a 16 year old introvert with big headphones in a bad (aka totally good) 80's coming of age movie. Its this choking nostalgia that both sucks and rocks at the same time. In other words, Vance Joy is amazing and so is this song. Edit: And so is Angela Sarafyan, she reminds me of some Disney cartoon but I'm not sure which one...
What makes this song so awesome is the fact that it builds momentum, it has a catchy, retro feel, and it is very classy. Love the vocals, guitar, beat, horns/brass, and everything about it surpasses much of the so-called music of the day.
Vance Joy and brass is a golden combo, I saw him live with his band and stuff in 2018 (at fairgrounds, berry) and it is one of the best things ive ever been to even 3 years later
This is my favorite song by Vance Joy. The buildup and chorus are different than anything else. This is the kind of song that makes you want to go for long walks to nowhere with the person you love.
Seems he borrowed from this song ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ex7FMQVufxg.html but I still love it. And half the controversy...ok, less than half...
This song tears me up, alot of memories, the song had just been released when I moved to Australia and every radio station played it nonstop. Thank you Vance for this hit.
You and Milky Chance are the only two artists that can make me feel so strongly about a song. If you guys ever were on the same song together. Man, I'd die of too much emotion.
Nick Pannerz Milky Chance is basically chill stoner music. They're German so it's weirder for most English people. I agree tho, Vance Joy is by far my favorite artist. Only songs I'll sing in front of people
This is _by far_ my favourite song on this album. Something about the sonority of the guitar and the sheer beauty of the chorus just make me want to sing! This must be *amazing* to see live!
peter a'beckett He is australian. I'm from Brazil and I don't know to explain this because I'm the only person that I know that know him I was suprised but I'm sure that because he is a great artist... SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH!
What's wrong with wanting a particular artist to perform near where you live so you can see them live? Of course Americans don't need to ask such favors because the market there is so big.
Vance joy's songs are so beautiful. So many songs today are by different artists but they sound the same. Vance joy's voice is original. When ever I feel down I just listen to his music and it cheers me up. He's the inspiration for me playing the ukele. Vance joy is the BEST!
Vance joy is one of those artists that I feel like is very familier even though he's relatively new. It's hard for me to explain, but his songs always feel like I've heard them long ago and have some feeling of odd nostalgia. When I first hear them, it's like they scratch an itch I didn't realize I had.
Vance Joy? Where you've been mate? Been waiting for years for another one of your great music videos, once again you score another point. Keep up the good work :D
Meant to be there, represents his first gf running out on him. He carries the fear of this happening again in his future gfs and he forces them to leave, they do cause of this lack of trust and they turn into his first gf and leave him, explaining why the same actress plays all the girls. Vances clips like this one are deep.
wow, the chorus of this song is so climatic and the music is epic, I wish the verses had a bit more movement to it and it would be a truly memorable song
Vance Joy, you twist my soul in all the right ways. You make me feel this beautifully melancholic emotion. Such a delicate yet strong voice. Perfect mix of desire, vulnerability and instability. I hope I can write a song half as beautiful one day. You were born for this. ❤
Lay it on Me Vance Joy *Lyrics* : I'm so done Anyone can see That I'm wasted You cut through And I just wanna know What's in Your head Write it on the piece of paper, honey Put it on my coat before I go Hidden in a place you know I'll find it Later when I'm sitting all alone Let Me in Everything starts at your skin, so new Your love's always finding me out Who am I kidding? If all my defences come down, oh baby Will you lay it all on me now? Lay it all on me now Lay it all on me now Lay it all on me now Snow comes down, everything is new and different I found you in plain sight, why'd I take so long? Write it on the piece of paper, honey Put it on my coat before I go Let Me in Everything starts at your skin, so new Your love's always finding me out Who am I kidding? If all my defences come down, oh baby Will you lay it all on me now? Lay it all on me now Lay it all on me now Lay it all on me now Your love's always finding me out Who am I kidding? If all my defences come down, oh baby Will you lay it all on me now? Lay it all on me now Lay it all on me now Lay it all on me now Lay it all on me now
I so wanted Vance Joy to have more recognition. He and James Bay touch me there in my heart. There are two guys who always follow the work and love them. They are so talented.
My new favorite song💞 all my friends think I'm weird for listening to your songs instead of today's pop hits but I explain to them that these are best songs you will ever hear in your entire existence 💞💞💞
Heard this while writing at the coffee shop today and had no idea what the song was so looked it up. Then right after that We're Going Home which I also had to look up. It's now 6 hours later and I think it's safe to say I'm a new fan of Vance Joy
I'm so gone Anyone could see that I'm wasted You cut through And I just wanna know what's in your head Write it on a piece of paper, honey Put it in my coat before I go Hidden in a place you know I'll find it, oh Later when I'm sitting all alone Let me in Everything starts at your skin, so new Your love's always finding me out Who am I kidding? "Your love's always finding me out Who am I kidding?" Absolutely amazing. Anyone know if the artist actually wrote these lyrics? Because they are genius. Absolutely amazing... I know I said it again... it's worth restating.
Currently smashing western Canadian charts in Modern rock. I'm non bias but this is a very well done and catchy as sh!t piece of ear artgasim. Ty for taking me on a wonderful enlightenment of why the future and the past is a bi-product of the moment. Live and smile.
This song gave me the courage and common sense to pursue the best woman in the world. Seriously, this song has brought me love....god bless Vance Joy. "Who am I kidding?"
I like this song. And then I dont like it if I listen too much, but I always come back and listen to it again every now and then. A time of my life memories thing.
