Hi and welcome to my orchid channel! :-) I post 1-3 times a week!
If you are new to my channel, I hope you like it as well as subscribing before you leave! :-)
This is actually a very "odd" unboxing video from Schwerter orchideen in Germany.
I decided to split the order up into several sequences, this video is one of them.
So today, 3 months later on after having repotted them immediately and all I might as well do a all-in-one and include the 3 months UPDATE on them as well. But first I will show you guys a short update on my Rhyncorides Bangkok Sunset and my Angraecum eburneum potted up in simply charcoal 2 months ago approx...

I like what you said about enjoying the whole process of orchid growing..."Make them grow, acquitre roots, nice leaves, etc." If you only enjoy them when they are blooming they are not worth the trouble. Enjoy the journey and appreciate it for what it is. Kiss Linus for me that handsome gentleman!! Kelly

Exactly! Growing orchids is fun all together 😍 but nothing matches a first time cattleya blooming though 😍 well I'll kiss him right now from you ( and me) have a lovely weekend

@@KarinsOrchids gotta tell ya' . My Angraecum sesquipedale is in spike for the first time and I am elated. Cannot wait to see that bloom! So ya' blooms are special.

@@kellyolsen5483 yep 😁 that one should be just as strongly fragrant as the var bosserii I've got. This is the very right time for it to bloom, round the time for halloween

I love the superb quality they posess! Schwerter is a very nice nursery, I have so many bloomwilling plants from them in my collection now so a few bugs on one occation is really nothing compared to the cockroach I got from another nursery ( wont be revealed) with some good warmth I hope the orange will bloom quite soon, if not, its ok I'm ready to do the asjustments necessary and I shall be patient and 'forget about them' that's when they decide to bloom 😆😅😁

hey karin, I swear Schwerter have the most exotic collection of bugs. That was a very interesting one. The amount of ones I have found is unreal. But like I keep saying I recognize the damage they do on all other orchid growers plants on youtube so I know I'm not the only one. It's mad how many of us can't get rid of them completely with practically everyone having regular mealy bug outbreaks. Mealy bugs are the biggest, slowest, easiest to spot bugs. Considering my plants have had at least 13 diffferent bugs over the years, imagine you go on a safari in africa. You'll take pictures of the elephants, the giraffes, the lions and the hippos. But you will probably not take a picture of the millions of flies, mosquitoes, fish, lizards, rodents, birds,snakes etc. So yeah mealies are like the elephants on a safari. Everyone is going to spot them... But it's the same for everyone like I said. Our supermarkets are just as bad. It's the only highly annoying aspect of buying new plants. It's a shame so many growers conclude that they can't grow them for that reason too. Cause it's the only thing that keeps giving me problems sadly.

But the cockroach out of the box must really have taken the no.1 price!! And yeah you are definately right, the earth is full of creepy nasty ugly creature insects far worse than the ones from the German boxes 😆😆 but it does feel a bit odd to bring them in here, into this foreign cold country...invasive spicies aren't really prefered I guess. Next time I order I will open the box on my balcony and let it sit there for an hour or so before I lay my hands on it 🤣

Great new orchids, thanks for sharing. I have one vandasious in semihydro setup with leca, bur other than that , any other I put up, they died! Do you keep them under grow light after repotting?

Well hello there 😀 I was scared to.. not getting them to grow properly,, so diverse info on google, I thought charcoal in large clay pots would be ideal but no, not in here all to dry! So one evening I just happened to watch one of The orchid rooms old videos when she put her rhyncostylis into semihydro leca. I already failed with a vanda hybrid and what Im doing right now isn't working either so...I figured why not! Very glad I tried! Well yes I keep most part of my orchids under led lights even the ones already staying on the windowsill but no high light for my rhyncostylis,, they will get ugly markings.

Hi Karin. I’ve been looking closely at your pots that you use as reservoir pots and was wondering whether you buy them locally or somewhere online. I just never seem to be able to find the right plastic outer pots without holes. I need lightweight plastic rather than ceramic which often come with a plug underneath that sometimes leak on the furniture, (not good). I’d appreciate it if you could let me know where you get your outer pots. Thank you.

Hi there! Nice to see you. Well I buy them at the lokal grocery stores here in Sweden. The brand name is "ERNA" and the company seems to be Swedish located in Jönköping, the companys name is 'Rosellplast AB', sorry if this wasn't for any help, so goid luck finding what you're searching for! There are problably simular ones available somewhere on the absolutely huge Internet. 😍
