Vanderhall Venice is a three-wheeled motorcycle, which may be operated with a regular car driving license. Depending on the region you may or may not need to drive it with a helmet on. The Vanderhall Venice is powered by a GM-sourced turbocharged 1.4 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic. The engine produces 180 hp, and 250 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. All power goes to the front wheels, and the single rear wheel wears a 285/35 18 tire. Vanderhall founder Steve Hall had vehicles like the Polaris Slingshot or Morgan Three-Wheeler in sight. It’s about the feeling of uninhibited freedom, like on a motorcycle, but with a lot more safety, and a lot less protective gear.
Starting price: ~50 000 euro

Thanks for the honest and well done review! Many of the issues are remedied with the Carmel model, although it is more expensive. It's wider, so more room between the seats, more storage, doors for easier access, and a higher windscreen. Also, there's the soon to be available Edison electric version. From your review, it sounds like it might be the better option. 320 Kilometer range, about 35K, US and even a bit faster on the road. It also has a bit of a 'Steampunk' look, so it better come with a pair of retro goggles...

Whilst this may be an honest review of a poorly constructed CAR, what come across is your have not ridden motorcycles you state when it rains you have to pull over and wait like a motorbike. If we pulled over in Britain for rain to stop we could be sat by the side of the road for a couple of weeks. Any motorcyclist knows that when it rains to clear you visor tilt your head to the side a the wind clears all the rain I know this as I have been riding bikes for 50 years.

You assume one wears a helmet or goggles rather than just regular sunglasses. I know what I said on wearing head protection against debris, but to be honest, if I had to wear a helmet in one of these, it would be a deal breaker for me. As far as riding a bike in the rain is concerned, water on the visor is less of an issue, than fogging of the visor, aquaplaning, and other drivers, who may or may not see you, regardless of how much hi-vis gear you have on you.

@@MarekDrivesENG fogging of a visor is not an issue with modern crash helmets with vents or you can just add a pin lock. The other issues you raised about bikes is part of the risk you have to accept if you’re going to ride a one, and aquaplaining is less of an issue with a bike than a car. Motorbike tyres are far superior in design than those made for cars that’s why they are more expensive. My issue was not at all with what you reported on the Vandehall it was more to do with your comments about motorbikes and I’m sorry if this offends but anyone who rides a bike without a crash helmet is just stupid. I speak from personal experience when one saved my life. However as said above it was a very good review.

Man. I am not sure if that thing is safer than a motorcycle. I would not want to get hit in that thing. At lest when you crash on a bike, you can eject which I did about 3 weeks ago and my injury was a bruised knee and a sprained ankle. I got lucky. If I hit the car that cut in front of me, I would have been in the ICU.

AFAIK the Venice R will have over 200 hp, and it will be even lighter, less stuff, probably more lightweight elements. I think it's going to be an upgrade to a 1.6 engine, so probably a different (better?) gearbox as well. I wouldn't mind a more hardcore look, but as far as ride and power is concerned, the regular Venice is just fine as it is.

@@MarekDrives thanks, Im torn between getting the speedster and the Venice. I prefer the styling of the speedster hands down. The only advantage of the Venice is being able to share the fun with someone.

Great video Marek. How does this thing compare to the Morgan price wise? We don't get either of these in Canada. They confuse the regulators here and they don't like being confused.

In Poland they are more or less the same price, which is basically TOO EXPENSIVE :) I haven't driven/ridden the Morgan, but as far as I can tell Morgan is an "all show, no go" affair. Its performance figures are nothing to talk about, and apparently handling is iffy. From this perspective the Vanderhall fills the niche between a more hardcore Slingshot and made in a shed Morgan.

Very good review, as always. But the Venice's sound...is obsolete. An ugly drone, similar to driving with a hole in your exhaust. And to get the wastegate whistle, you have to jiggle the gas pedal? I'd feel like a real wanker to do that. (But most people who drive loud cars are).
