Her covers of "Piece of my heart" are crazy too. And the song she did for the Olympic Games opening back in 2000. There's a note at the end she holds for ages. Really enjoyed this reaction! Man. you've unleashed the beast now! 5-octave range on this tiny little person. Saw her live at Werribee mansion in Melbourne as a support for Jimmy Barnes years ago and she sang everything from pop, thru Led Zep, AC/DC and even Johnny Cash - and she smashed it - all of it. One of the best I've ever heard.

Being an Aussie , I have always said that Vanessa Amorosi is the best Aussie female vocalist I have ever heard she can sing anything ( that's my opinion ) .

When you see the backup singers enjoying themselves so much, you KNOW how good the performance is, imo...every artist performer here is excellent and each uplifting each other...I would have loved to have been there in person...thank you for reacting to this one as well

I think Australia has such good performers because we had places for them to show off their talent, like Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Countdown, and numerous late night shows similar to Carson, Letterman, etc, where they’d perform live to tape - no lip sync here!

Vanessa was singing in a Russian resturant in Australia when she was 16 years old i think she was discovered there, also rights a lot of songs.

It's interesting how describe Australian singers you've heard sounding very blues. That sound is what I've always heard called Australian rock. It does explain how rock in Australia is different from what I've heard from other countries. Really enjoy listening to your reactions because it always gives an insight into singers or songs I've grown up listening to.

Vanessa swoops her vocals around and about exploring. Dipping or diving into the shade and fluttering or soaring into the light on various levels before powering through the stratosphere, and even sometimes, sliding back toward the shade to finish. She works the dynamics of light and shade, she doesn't just head up, straight for a ceiling and circle there on the same level for the whole time giving a performance that is more about just sustaining a high technical level rather than feeling and conveying the powerful emotions of the lyrics. Vanessa has muscle AND spirit within her range of talent.

In Australia we have a relatively small population so singers have to be really good or they won't get their big break here (some really good singers still don't make it.) Plus we can spot the ones only out for fame and they don't last. Whereas in America you have a large population with a lot of different styles and tastes, plus America is a bit more of a 'fame hungry' culture so consumers play into it more than Australians do. Not saying America doesn't have great singers (they clearly do) but there are also way too many that have the star look but not the star quality. All imo anyway.
