She was in a different country and the legal process is very slow for foreigners. I was attacked in Jamaica in the 90's and would of had to stay there 2 mos. if I'd pressed charges.

I understand that this incident happened years ago but I am disgusted that other men were there and they let this woman get assaulted. Unfortunately, there are a lot of boys masquerading as men who believe that violence against women because of a feeling of disrespect is a sign of their strength. When I was growing up if the drug dealers in my neighborhood saw a man beating a woman, he left the block in an ambulance. For all of their deviant behaviors they were not about violence against females. Today, this idea is lost to many boys who are masquerading out in these streets and the community first and foremost should be the ones to address this problem. Just an opinion that I believe.

It's not that simple all the time. I can recall an incident whereby some friends were all together at my buddy's house. Anyway, 1 of the dudes has a baby momma who has some mental illness and she tends to create violent situations. This time, she threw something at him and it landed in his face; hard. Of course, the dude got up and started smacking her up. Nobody moved a muscle. I knew it was part of the culture of their relationship so nobody did anything. But once he started stomping on her as she was prone, I had to do something because that could kill her. This all happened in a split second. And as it is, they're working on their 5th kid and neither party is even 30yrs old. There's no college degree between them but there are at least 2 felonies. The overall outlook for that family isn't optimistic. She gets beaten up and keeps climbing into bed with him. That's not an uncommon tale either. I've seen a 3rd party try to break up a fight and the quarreling parties turn on the peacemaker. And while this is a unique situation in that it's colleagues, I think it's also worth considering that fights are seldom 1-sided. Now if Joe was stomping her and shit, he was out of order. But the whole, "never raise your hand at a woman" thing ignores the fact that women raise their hands at men assuming their vaginas make them exempt from regular decorum.

Never heard this unfortunate story before. Sorry it happened to the sister. But, I know from personal experience that Joe Torry is a punk ass bitch. I was in the gym, getting on the leg press, when Torry yells from fifteen feet away, "Hey! I'm using that!" I looked up to see him and two or three other dudes staring back at me. I yelled back, "Come get it!" His response was to repeat himself even louder. So I repeated myself emphasizing each word..."Come...Get...It!" A few seconds of "mad dogging" then I took my time, and enjoyed my workout. And nothing else was said.

One thing I know as a woman, if you've been attacked by a man, it's a violation. It's not a good feeling, at all. Sexually, physically, it doesn't matter. There's a feeling of powerlessness that comes over you. And I'm glad that she mentioned being in the company of a lot of men and their actions if they so desire. Being a woman is a responsibility. Plenty of women have found themselves in some tight spots, and wondered how they got there. A lot of women have gotten into situations that ended in fatality. We as women have to be conscious of what we say and do. There are a good amount of men that have zero respect for an empowered woman.
