I had first seen him in junior high, the crush lasted 4 years and he never even knew I existed. During that time I wasn't interested in anyone else and I didn't even date anyone. After high school, I eventually dated other people but I never felt the same about anyone. While Whitney gave some memorable performances, Mariah is absolutely awful and it's a travesty that she made so much money while really talented people battle to achieve recognition.

So, I love all of the singers mentioned and I feel no need to deride any of them. In their vocal primes, all of them had beautiful voices, but obviously very different vocal ranges and singing styles. I happen to enjoy both styles of singing but for different reasons. And it largely has to do with my mood. Think all of them made beautiful songs, and it’s really a matter of stylistic preference. Vanessa has a very pleasant voice that’s very peaceful to listen to, but she also sings in a style that is easy enough to sing along to for the average person who isn’t a good singer. Whitney and Mariah also have beautiful voices, but because of their extraordinary power and range, they sing in a more complicated style that the average person can’t really sing along with. Vocal runs, power belting, and whistle notes are just things that most people can’t do. So it’s mostly about admiring their skill, than actually appreciating the lyrics of the music.
