Unreported World follows a private investigator trying to track down the indigenous women going missing without a trace in the wilderness of the United States.
Thousands of indigenous women are believed to be missing or murdered, leaving families and loved ones desperately trying to find answers. But often confusion over jurisdictions between federal, state and tribal authorities can mean that many police investigations become cold cases that are never solved. Now indigenous women across the United States are stepping up to find their women.

Get very annoyed whem people like to say "this has been passed on for generations" or "people in my family have done this for generations" but then they turm around to say trauma can't be passed from generations. You didn't become a good doctor EXACTLY because your dad was one, your presence in his life and seeing his daily habits that he saw from his dad that he saw from his dad is what made you that. Seeing the pain of passed generations is the same
@lighthouselaura4324
@lighthouselaura4324 2 года назад
The did a study on children and grandchildren of holocaust camp survivors and the trauma of that was imprinted on tgeir DNA (how idk I'm not a geneticist). So of course trauma of slavery or the Native American wars which effected generations can be based down genetically- then on top of nature. It's based down from what we see and learn from our parents- via nurture. Just like a man that hits his wife- is raising children that will abuse or allow abuse 9/10 times. By the time your old enough to want to make a change- you stuck in a rut & it becomes to hard. Hook em while they're young.

The research in this area is now scientifically confirming that trauma genetically transmits alterations to the DNA that are enduring from generation to generation. Anyone who tells you otherwise, ask for their sources. There better be hard core dedicated academic research in professional journals refuting my assertion-but there won’t be. Science is about facts not feelings.

The people who want to hurt Native women know the loopholes between tribal law/civilian law, which makes an already vulnerable population moving targets! And she IS right, Suzy Q WILL get the resources put into her search
@gypsydonovan
@gypsydonovan Год назад
I suspect it’s even more simple: men who want to hurt women. It’s the loopholes that make indigenous women targets. A guy wants to rape & kill, why risk it with the white woman down the street who will get an investigation at the very least. Just go hunt on or around the rez & you’ll almost certainly get away with it. Like hunting game. Both federal & tribal governments are setting these women up like involuntary bait, but without traps. They may as well be selling indigenous women hunting licenses. It’s absolutely disgusting, inhumane & terrifying.

it's insane to me that something so universally agreed upon as "trafficking is bad" hasn't stopped these men from victimizing native women and children. Like, whose toes could the government possibly be stepping on by fixing the gapping loophole in the law? What, are the biker gangs lobbying to keep things the way they are? There's literally no good explanation for why the laws haven't been changed, besides indifference.

I think he looks like he does drugs other than alcohol. I guess he's unusually chubby for a meth addict (it suppresses appetite), but his fidgeting would fit. it could also be that he's autistic and that's what's known as "stimming", that would also fit his avoidance of eye contact. his nervousness isn't necessarily guilt, it could just be because he's being filmed and he knows that a lot of people suspect him of murder. he's definitely being dishonest about the abuse though. the question whether they ever fought was phrased in such an open way that if he was honest, he would have said yes.

@lighthouselaura4324

From what I understand; it's hard when it happens or the person resides on a reservation. The reservation has it own small police force for 100-1000 square miles. Sometimes one force for multiple reservations. Some of that force is hired out and isn't even from that area. Reservation cops can only deal with people that live in the reservation. The town, county & state cops can't do anything if it happens on the reservation. So if a non native man rapes-kills a native women on a tribal lands- none of the local police can do anything legally to that man. It becomes a federal crime. So then the native spokes person has to raise the flag. However- if they don't know who did the crime- only the victim, then it's the tribal police job to investigate. The tribal police don't have the resources & knowledge how to properly investigate. If they find the body on the huge rugged terrain & while they is still evidence to collect when found. In top of that people on reservation tend to live in less then desirable situation- often. The drugs and alcohol runs rampet. The houseing is poor. Native americans dont really trust (riggtfully so based on history) the goverment. & Often these women are adults- who can chose to go missing, so unless a body is found- there is no assumed crime. If it takes a week for the friend to report her missing, the body is in the elements- then there is no evidence for a poorly prepared small force to look over. It's lose lose situation. Plus the autopsy are done off reservation & native Americans want to buried the person quucklt, bc of spiritual believes. So it's really just a cluster duck of hoops to jump through. The tribes don't want to give up rights to have state police come in- understandable, so it's just stuck in a nothingness & native American women and children pay the price. On top of that if you want to victimize some1 & get away with it; you chose some1 with the smallest voice: poor, homeless, addict, minority (all though most crime is done to people that resembles the prep), child, single person. Crimes are solved when loved ones and communities don't backdown. Even then you have Brian Landrie walk off and kill himself, right under cops nooses while the world warched.

Not necessarily. I live within 40 miles of 3 reservations ( not in SD). 2 have tribal police. People on reservations who commit state crimes can be prosecuted by the state regardless of race. Grateful for your ability to see you're worthy of love not only for yourself but others too, Daryl. God gave us free will to choose the Right or wrong. Seems CTR is the Way to go!While things weren't always smooth, much less easy, it was easier to deal with when Heavenly Father & His Holy Spirit were Lighting the way. After leaving an abusive husband, I was working but I'd not only developed carpal tunnel in my wrist as a floral designer but lacked a dollar in pay to pay rent & daycare. I asked for help with food but made too much money! Me in yard sale clothes as was my son, a beat up gas guzzler while other women dressed in very nice clothes, gold jewelry, faux designer purses & nice cars..came back out with their hands full & swear two more kids than she went in with! Long story..the Holy Spirit whispered "Call the Bishop." No. NOPE. Nay, nay. Not been in church for a decade, a wretched me, awful. Three days..kinda notice the 3day thing in Spirit..I can guarantee you, the wretchedness you may think you come from are darkness's demons. If they believe you are heading towards the Light, they'll grab on. I could write a book but who'd want to read it? (See what just happened? The negative darkness jumped right in!) The United Way has a plethora of volunteer openings as do others. Volunteer.org which shows such. A long time ago I was a radio reader. Those who were blind had special radios where they'd tune into the broadcast & get newspaper articles of variety, even obituaries. Larger markets got to read from magazines, books, etc. My older neighbor started coming with me on Fridays & was in heaven for her as she was using her well spoken & articulate voice. So I was helping not only the visually impaired but she as well. Of course, me too. Truth be known, the lonely. 🍃🕊️🍃Blessed are the peacemakers. ⚠️Just tapped the link & it came up with a 6 before it, noting not secure for sensitive data. If you search by typing it in, it brings up a variety of volunteer openings. Not seen it before but there's jobs claiming $45/hr. I haven't looked at anything yet but wanted to let you know about the link thing. Remember..NEVER GIVE UP!

Native americans poses the genetic marker to be predisposed to alcoholism (of course not all), just like Latino are highly likly to get diabetes. Maybe bc alcohol is newer for them- idk- white folks can have the marker too. Plus I believe when stuck in a rut were you feel hopeless or pin against alcohol & drugs give instant joy. 135-150 yrs ago the native American world was changed so drastically that it's hard for the spirit to catch up. It like taking a person from 1970 & teaching them new technology. In the 1990s- a phone was stationary, film was developed from a camera, you need a boombox to play a 15$ CD, letters came by post, it cost 20 cents a minute to call one area code over, social media was watching the news with your family or sharing the paper & Google was the library's card catology. Now my phone does more than that and it fits in my back pocket. You can't rip coustume and culture away- replace them with punishment, death and starvtion, poverty & expect the great grandchildren to be ok. Especially of such a proud people that were so connected to the earth- tgeir chakras got tomahawk.

There needs to be a change in the consciousness of people, there shouldn't be any excuse that _so many_ people living homeless on the streets around the whole US whether they're native or not. It’s not a good feeling to watch what’s happening in America from an outside perspective, so I can only imagine how it must feel for people who are actually living there. 😔 My heart goes out to all the struggling people and families in the US.

Indigenous people have their own lands so called "reservations" like their little countries. So most of the time the federal government doesn't have the right to interfere with their affairs. Of course because you're an outsider so you're ignorant about that!

My prayers are always about the homeless, missing, and women and men being trafficked. I know there are many people black, white, native Americans and all race are being kidnapped, murdered and missing every day everywhere. It’s sad to think how everyone here seem like it’s all one race problem. It’s sad that anyone could go missing and be forgotten! I pray for all indigenous women, men, and babies are found by the grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.

Just stumbled onto this. Good video. Was Susan ever found? I'm only learning about this terrible problem, so please forgive any ignorance on my part. What about some sort of task force that includes all possible relevent law enforcement to find ways to work together to solve some of these cases? How is it that non-natives coming onto the reservation can't be arrested by tribal or state police? That sounds like an outdated and useless law that needs to be reformed. That is doable. Who does have jurisdiction? What do the people think will help? I like this video because it can help inform more people about what's going on. You need more backing. By that I don't mean just money. Society needs more awareness. My sense is you are on the right track. Don't give up.

The fact that the police chief thinks these people are waking up one day and saying 'i'd like to be homeless' and immediately after that he says their department would rather not check on the welfare of these people, and immediately after that, the way he stutters when bluntly asked if that is due to the color of those people's skin.... Means the answer is yes. It's because the people are Native. That police chief sounded full of crap. Edit: the cadaver dog on a rez is cool idea. I know of a missing child case on a nearby rez, FBI came in with a dog, but didn't come up with anything. 15 years later, the body was found literally buried in his own backyard. I believe the absolute uncaring and racism leads to annoyance that they have to come to the rez, which leads to incompetent investigating. Edit: frankly, the husband sounded full of crap, too, and the woman saying he looked better and she felt he wasn't involved, she wasn't convincing at all.

Yet there seems to be ALL kinds of funding, resources, and man power to take from Indigenous people and their land. The US government needs to stop victim blaming and allocate mass funding for social, economic, mental health and substance abuse programs.... We need to clean up the mess that genocide, racism, and enslavement poverty has created. That's accountability.
