I miss those outlets. My parents would take us there in the 80s for school clothes. Haven't been there since 2002😔

I worked at the Black & Decker Outlet (Building 2) from 1978 to 1981. And left the Reading area in 1985. This past week I went thru the old outlets area and was stunned so see how it changed! Looks like the new Sly Fox building replaced the Black & Decker building. Also amazing because I still use a drill that I got from the outlet 45 years ago. Thank you Alexa for sharing this!!!

Apparently Reading has made a remarkable turnaround.

In the 80s, you could buy Lee jeans for $8 a pair. Supposedly they were 2nds (irregulars) I could never find a problem.

I suppose it's better than these buildings sitting empty and deteriorating, but it feels like a ghost of its former self. Thanks for the update👍

I haven't been there in decades. I use to live in West Reading behind Randy Ricks and the fire station. Friday nights I would go to DQ and get a Pizza Time cheeseburger pie. Miss the Black and Decker outlet, Technics/Panasonic outlet and the Bachman Outlet. Heard the "road to nowhere" was redone a long time ago too.

Nice that they did not demolish the main buildings. However it looks clean and dead. Like a body prepared for a funeral.

I live in one of the apartments…I gotta say they did an amazing job
