Good on you Jason, looked amazing. Once mastered, I can only imagine the extraordinary amount of peaceful bliss, hovering over those incredible views. Hope you’re feeling ok. All the best. Much love and hugs. 🪂❤️👍
Sharing a poem by Leonardo daVinci. When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been, and there you will always long to return. Sums it up.
Really enjoyed this! Paragliding Looks way more complicated than I thought would be Go You for taking on something as out there as this Looking forward to the next episode! PS? Maybe try ginger tablets for the nausea?.
Thanks 😁 Luckily got over the sickness already. It's ok when I'm in control 😄 And yeah.... getting the coordination is the hard part. There's a lot to think about and confusing at the moment.
Pretty full on sport Jason. I got my fixed wing private pilots license many years ago and got airsick during the first few lessons. I once made the mistake of turning up for a lesson with a hangover...... Only once!!! No chundering, but pretty close. Great footage and video. Looking forward to your solo flight. One thing that's almost a certainty, is when you're in control and solo in the cockpit, airsickness is almost cancelled out. You're totally focused on flying. Great footage of the test flight. I can see that once you're skilled at flying solo, there's going to be some exciting aerial videos in the future. Cheers and all the best. Sean.
Thanks Sean. Much better day today..he gave me the controls straight away and I was all good. Even made it through the landing. 3 short solos today...2 crash landings 😂 no video unfortunately....
Fantastic Jason. I was getting a bit nervous when you were practicing by the cliff. What a magic experience. Thank you so much for sharing it all with us. I look forward to the next video! 😊👍👍
WooHoo you got off the ground! Good to see you enjoyed it, even if it was something out of your natural habitat. Practice, practice, practice and it will come second nature to you. It's a lot of sail pulling you around on the ground, looked heavy. Shame about the woozyness but as you said should be better once you're in control. Pleased to hear you're sticking the course out, before making a yay or nay decision. I couldn't do that now, hand arthritis, lack strength. I really hope you get up in a glider one day, still reliant on the weather and the tight circling climbing up to altitude might bring on the woozies but I think you'd get a huge kick out of it. Loved the video, thanks. Looking forward to the next instalment 🙂
Stop analysing it, just practise - the sickness and the other emotions will sort themselves out and then it will be sheer pleasure Jason. Well done for heading for the wild blue yonder...while you still can.
well done Jason, looks fantastic up there, I have always loved flying but I think I prefer an engine and cabin around me 😂, there is a launch pad near me at Crackneck Point lookout near Bateau Bay (The Entrance), Cheers, Garry
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces did not know that there are different requirements for launch sites, how do they rate the sites ? maybe something you can talk about once you have gained your license 😀
Not sure what your Instructor said but look out towards the horizon is the trick in Boats, don't look down if you start feeling sick until you adjust to it should help! Good Luck with it, I'm sure that will pass!!
Wow, what a thrilling experience!! It must be an incredible feeling to be floating in the sky like that. I hope the weather continues to behave itself for you so you can finish the course without any more delays. I’ll be in Newcastle for a couple of hours this afternoon in my van so I’ll keep an eye out for you.
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces haha I bet it’s a bit to get used to. I don’t think I could do it lol. Are you in the sky today? I’m up on York Drive & can see a group of hang gliders, but no paragliders. I wondered if they were part of your group or not.
@sallyb1433 we were on the south end of Merewther. My instructor was talking about going over to Strzelecki later...maybe. Look out for a big blue and white wing with 2 people hanging off 😂
Are people allowed to setup structure like you showed or even picnic at a launch site? I would have thought, it's not allowed. It's like setting up a picnic in a middle of a boat ramp. It's just not done. It looks like Dudley cliffs is just like Stanwell Tops. Back and forth paragliding along the cliffs chasing warm updraughts. The paragliding in Manilla NSW is more cross-country. Chasing thermals to gain altitude and distance. The furthest I've had to follow my paragliding ex-GF in one of her glides was nearly 50kms from where she launched from (if I recall correctly). She landed in a field/farm. The landowner was very understanding of the intrusion - thank goodness. Good luck with the rest of your course.
Thanks mate!😁 I keep hearing people talking about Manilla... Unfortunately the launch site is in a national Park and parks allow the site to be booked....🙄
Oh boy, I could never do that...parasailing maybe but not off a cliff. You're going to have superhero skills...riding faster than a speeding bullet, able to leap tall cliffs in a single bound! I'm sure you are already stronger than a locomotive (well cept your queady stomach 😅)
I did paragliding a decade ago - it is huge fun but as i was a fixed wing pilot it never really worked for me - I was part of the Central Coast Paragliding club
Jason, I think you can see my surname. My brother competed in the Red Bull x Alps twice, a gruelling race with a lot of walking. He was going to take me up with him for a flight, but unfortunately we never got to do so. He absolutely loved paragliding and was a very gutsy person. I think he held a record for the longest flight in a straight line, or something like that. 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘 Edit: I thought I'd better add, that's not the way he left us. Stick at it. Just be careful (I know you're deaf! Look at that bike riding you do! 😀). I wish I had him on tape talking about his encounters with one of these 🦅!
That's amazing, Robyn! I've watched a few videos on those races...very full on 😁 probably a little late in my life to gain enough experience for that kind of extreme cross country flying, but hey, it was really cool being up in the air!😊
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Yeah, I know it was pretty scary up there on some of those mountains and he had some hair-raising experiences! Keep at it. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
