in one of the live streams Josh said that the Stance also has the sintered diffs. I have both vehicles and haven’t had any issues with either one. Running 2S and 3S in them. If the only people that are having issues with the diffs are the ones that have upgraded their rigs, then that’s on them. You know you have to upgrade more than just the motor. That’s like putting a hellcat engine in a Dart without upgrading the rest of the car and wondering why the frame bent from the torque or the transmission disintegrated. He also mentioned that the kits don’t sell well enough to justify doing kits and rtr’s. He said maybe if the demand for one gets high enough. The high price of their first few kits kept me away from the brand. Of course now i own 4 trucks from them. Having worked at a hobby shop and driven tons of other rtr’s, the Vanquish trucks are still hands down the best rtr’s on the market. Axial and Traxxas aren’t even close. Do they have shortcomings, of course they do. It’s still the best starting point. A bulletproof rig would be so expensive that the average consumer wouldn’t be able to buy in. Even if they put in amazing products, people would still complain that they didn’t use XYZ instead of ABC.
Awesome video! My diffs didn't last one 1500mah battery running a fusion pro ether I wasn't even that hard on it. Then on top of it I started pulling my h10 apart to prep for cleaning and 3 tabs of the interior fell apart once I pulled the factory screws. I had to use 3 big washers to be able to use the interior again 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Very nice video with nice footage! On the subject of why those Diff gears break, I believe its caused by the plastic Yokes that hold the diff gear in place. I have 3 VS-410 trucks and this New H10 Optic. Of all the rigs, i've broken One rear diff, and it was completely my fault; just getting mentally tired and throttling out of a hard wheel bind (the kind when the whole truck unsprings itself out like a grasshopper) I heard it. it was so obvious and i was just shaking my head thinking i need to ho home before I break it even more. When you have replaced all of the plastic parts in the drivetrain with metal (especially the driveshafts) all that's left is the plastic yokes in the 3rd member. high stress between the input pinion and the ring gear will cause the plastic yokes to bend and the two gears will start to separate and when the two finally break mesh and the pinion free spins that's when the diff will grind teeth. I prefer to choose my weakspot in an all metal drivetrain by just keeping the plastic driveshafts-easiest to replace and cheap. My thoughts/opinions. Thanks for the Optic Videos. I learned some important things from you to consider when i finally use up all my brushed motors i have in a box (I told myself i would use them first!) and put a Fusion Pro in there!
It does not seem possible that the final rtr was tested as sold ? You seem to be a sensible driver and I am familiar with the limited power of the fusion.
Agreed, I’m curious if they do any beta testing as well. As fast as this shortcoming revealed itself to me and amongst our local crawling group at the same location it appears to be an obvious issue.
@@theoriginfactory I’ll let you know how my 2 optics do after the same brushless upgrades and also larger tires and more weight. Should be interesting!!?
I’m super nervous about my diffs since hearing about the issue, I’m also nervous about big tumbles and breaking/snapping some parts of the plastic cage
Cool spin you put on yours.. Definitely made it your own. Looks awesome. 🔥 I've had good results with S8E's but mine are all kit shocks, the Optic will be my 1st RTR Vanquish when it finally arrives to Oz...so we shall see after some similar set up changes and tuning. Cheers
Would like to have seen footage of the failure. Would have been better to stop at the point of failure so you could have shared the details. Haven’t seen the vid of the upgrades but if you’ve introduced more grip and more power then weaker parts of the system will fail. Would most owners have paid $2-300 + for a fully optioned drivetrain like the VRD?
14:49-15:21 is where it happened. Sintered gears in other products have a clutch as a safeguard such as powertools. No longer having a slipper clutch and the slipper eliminator as standard equipment makes a recipe for this failure. I was running 3s on fusion pro 2300kv
I will never be able to buy one. I have bills and a family. I never thought RC would be a rich man’s sport. $500 for something that I would have to upgrade anyway is ridiculous.
I was pretty mad when I saw the sintered gears in there. I bought an underdrive gear, then couldn’t install it because you also have to buy the spool. I probably should have waited until there was a kit with proper gears. But I really like the truck overall.
The issues you had were not in stock form. You added 4X the horsepower and 20% more weight. At that point its to be expected. In what market would that be the manufactures fault? The RTR with included electronics will rarely see this failure.
First of all a 2300kv (27T) vs a 35t is not 4x the power. Holmes hobbies did a review on 27t vs 35t & their tests showed a 20% power increase. I feel as vanquish leans out their production costs they are now starting to cross a line where the quality is diminishing. Examples.....They removed the safeguards which was a slipper clutch and that unloaded power delivery without any damage. Slipper would prevent blowing up a diff. The standard for vanquish products now is a slipper eliminator. . My overall point is if they are going to keep cutting back on the product maybe give their releases a grading system like "pro" & "novice" etc. If they would have announced a builders kit will come shortly after I wouldn't have bought an RTR.
@@theoriginfactory Brushed 35t vs a brushless 2300 is a huge difference in power and cost. If it was only 20% people wouldn’t be spending all that money on a HW system.
I've run brushless in my Axial and trx4 with sintered gears no issues for years. They both have brass, the trx4 has a lot of brass. Just my experience.
I run 3s on my original trx4 since I got it from new , about 3yrs ago I went brushless (fusion pro) and still no issues. I even run crazy stickie tires . Never replaced a single drive component at all…. I don’t think brushless makes a difference, seems that VP should listen to guys , they draw in new customers with thier history, they should keep thier standards of quality.
I run the Hobbywing Pro for the smooth power and the drag brake. I've never thought it was that powerful. Josh from Harley Designs always comments on the lack of power in the HW Pro.
Mine is on its way, so i can't say anything. At least i would made a warranty claim out of it. Saw many vids now with the same statemants. It seems they use cheaper material to save money. Never heard that someone broke a diff on Vanquish rigs.
what I forgot to add in the video is when they use these types of gears in cordless tools for example they have clutches to safeguard them and now that vanquish uses the slipper eliminator on all products its a recipe for failure
@@theoriginfactory i totally agree. Honest, i'm unsure what to do. If this happens here in my country, i have a big problem due to non available Vanquish parts are present at any dealer.
I was a big fan of Vanquish until they forced people to buy their rigs to get their plastic axles lol Withholding the F10 & H10 axles unless you bought a full rig really bothered me. Just another corporation, not really for the hobby abroad.
@@NumberOneBatfan Back in 2021 It took 6 months for F10 axles to be available individually, sure the same thing could happen with the H10s'..... but by then, what else will be out?
@@ferdis7 there is a lot of releasing a new product that is being overlooked or not understood. Vanquish is not trying to take advantage of their customers just trying to run a successful business.
