of course they're ugly, they're essentially an officially marketed version of cut down high tops. I doubt the intention was style as much as it was function.
Legendary skate shoe. Love the comfort, like pillows around your feet. All right, time to review some Globe shoes for a change. I nominate Mark Appleyard's signature shoe: the *Mahalo Plus!*
when putting these vans shoes on, you don't have to tighten the laces like crazy for it to actually be stable, it could be as loose as a slip-on and still stay stable on your foot. and these shoes don't give blisters which was a huge issue for me since I sweat a lot on my feet (making it easier to get blisters). All around great stability and great comfort, the padding doesn't really show as much wear and tear so also long-lasting. BTW I bought the original half cabs, so my experiences would probably be better if I had the pros
I love my half cabs, but i found it weird that really no one talks about how fast they get completely ripped. The laces broke after two days. My shoe was completely destroyed after less than a month.
for real, i bought them like "sick all suede, thats gotta last" ive maybe skated them 12 hours collectively so far, and the collar on the hightop is just absolutely shredded from heelflips, all the layers of it are just fanning out(looks kinda sick tho lol)
@@marks4096 oh i love seeing your lot in here the "blames equiptment never themselves" sort, you change shoe and magically do a trick, heres an idea, maybe you just got the timing down, and decided to blame the shoe, ive seen plenty like you, for every skate shoe out there, "this shoe sucked, once i switched blah blah blah"
Damn I always saw people asking for you to review this shoe, but never tought you would do it. Great video, Christian, the editing was dope! I skated some classic Half Cabs, it feels great on feet
I'd like to see something by Emerica or Lakai. Emerica Dickson would be dope. Love your channel, been a listener since the RIDE channel days, keep it up!
Both great brands and I love them, but lakai really just fall apart just by walking in them.. emerica not so much but they really don’t hold up after just some sessions.. it’s a pity
@@whopwhop6732 really? I had a pair of Riley 2s last summer and they held up really well, shoe goo’d the ollie area and flick spot but I do that with every shoe at some point
@@ADbizzy2 yeah for real, actually a pair of riley 2 had its rubber around the midsole fallin apart very quickly, same with some wino g6 from emerica, I would love to skate only lakai and emerica!
I love that they're mid-tops, they provide great ankle protection (I get hit there often with the board). The toe box area is wide, which is great for folks with or developing bunions such as myself (more common than you think or folks are willing to admit!). I switched the insoles with something my pediatrist recommended since I have flat feet. The style of the shoe takes some getting used to, wish they still sold the versions with more color options. I'm still also getting used to the shape/bulkiness and one thing that bothers me is that it easily rips in the area where your Achilles tendon meets the shoe. I think Van's should double-seam that area.
Please review the legendary Accel OG! It honestly might be my favorite shoe ever to skate...wish they made a phat vulc version though...could be interesting
I've skated them a lot ! My first pair was electric blue and i skated them to death ! Then I had one pair camo , then I got a light version without any stitching (they were dope!) And then lastly the cab ( full version hi top)
I don’t have the half cabs but don’t love them either. Honestly the best shoe I’ve ever skated was the Ellington 1 but they’re long gone. Now I’m skating my first pair of Estrella’s and I’m very impressed so far
They're sweet....once they're worked in! Those pad things on the sides of the ankle messed up my foot. Every time i'd push (skateboard) or bend my foot those pads were pressing in on my tendon. But now after a month they're pretty sweet 😀
Some of those new és technical models. They will suit your preferences. Also halfcabs are not ugly in my opinion. There are way more ugly vans shoes out there.
What we need is a half cab with waffle cup like the Kyle walkers or Crockett pros or BMX pro half cabs I’ve ridden half cabs in the past for skating and BMX and tbh they are great for both the only weak point is the bottom they blow out so fast it isn’t even funny I just wish they made a waffle cup half cab
i found basically brand new half cabs at a good will once for like 20 bucks. I typically don't buy second hand shoes but that was a hella good deal. My opinion was basically the same. they skate fantastically. also i would like to request etnies barge shoes. I had 2 pairs and had really good experience with both.
I got the lizard/eucalyptus ones, they are mint!!!! Well actually they are more of an olive green.... Yeah the weird ankle angle was strange to me too. But enjoying my skating in them so far! Can you get all of the new vans classic (extra durable ones) and test them all!!!
If you could do the Globe surplus or any Globe shoe would be awesome cos no one has done any reviews and I wanna know if they’re still as good as they’re use to be
as bmx rider i always liked that shoe... now that i also skate, im riding some very similars: Sex Wax Cube/Strike (i'm from argentina) but i'll buy some Half Cabs when i find some pair that fits me (and nice colour, because they're plenty of black ones, but i don't like too much black shoes). suscribed to your channel because your videos have tons of production and animations and things, and i'm also a graphic designer so it's cool jaajjaja
