@@the_guy_who_split_your_qua3832 bro I have a pair with the ollie cap ( the side chunk), a pair with the toe cap, and a pair with none at all. The capped ones usually go on sale tho. Don't let haters get to ya man, skating is such an individual pastime.
It'd be a project, but I'd like to see a compare and contrast on 3 or 4 slip-ons (because everybody's got one). Like a contest, you know? Vans slip vs. Nike's Janoski slip vs. Emerica's Wino slip vs. Straye's Ventura slip. A slip olympics, if you will.
Thatd be such a cool thing to see, I've been so curious about how the Van's slip ons compare to the Emerica Slip ons, cuz personally I like the Emerica Slips way more.
Gonna save you Christian some time: Janoski slip ons are 10x better than the others. I skated the black ones with gum cupsole, they are easy to break in but keep their shape for months. Crazy good durability and comfort. I find Vans and Emerics to be uncomfortable, straye not durable but I did not have suede for straye cuz they only had the straye x zero version on the store and I don't want skulls and shit on my shoes.
I agree with most of the stuff in this video, but the pop Cush insole in my opinion is one of the best ones ever. I skate a lot of gaps and stairs, and I love these. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Hey Christian, I am out of my skating years, but for the shoe sizing i have one tip from the army: You go perfectly tight when you buy them and while wearing your shoes in, you stick some tape to the parts of your foot/sock where the shoe is rubbing (creating friction). I am wearing all of my skate shoes in that way (I love the skating versions and i almost only buy pro/skate versions of shoes) and they feel freaking amazing after having them broken in. Like a second skin. Especially a skate shoe neeeeeeds the fit. I mean, you made the first hand experience with those vans ;) I hope i could help you guys
For the part about them falling off if you super glue the elastic part it helps so much because then they don’t stretch and it makes that part more durable
I know i'm kinda random but I would love to see a review of the Emerica Romero Laced.🤩 They are pretty narrow and are hard at the beginning. They should fit to you perfectly. I would appreciate a review on these shoes.😁
Thank you for doing the full review on the slip on pro. I had skated the canvas slip-ons with the toe cap and it was super snug till the death. I'm currently skating the slip-on pros in the suede and I'm experiencing a small amount of blowout resulting in the shoe not being as snug. I just sacked up and started wearing a little thicker sock from Costco. Haha! Vans are my favorite so my opinion could seem a bit bias but there's a reason they're the best in the game for so long. Hahaha!
I get these shoes a half size down. The elastic band on the outside of the foot is what rips apart first every time due to heelflips and ollies. After that the shoe is super loose, so I make sure to use half size down so they do not to fall off. I think of these types of shoes the same way with soccer cleats. snugness is worth it as the shoe will form to your foot after use, giving you maximum feel and control.
I've had a couple pairs of these, the board feel is nice and they're not bad for jumping down stuff. The soles have blown out both times before the upper suede did
I get a size that goes all the way to my toe so if the shoe gets loose it's still on, especially with vans and Nike. With slip on Vans I always get leather or suede for durability and protection. It's a good shoe to skate in but in my opinion it's gets boring after four sessions in.
Ye i got a half size under. I dont like the loose feeling in the back and hearing how it loosens over time. But what about the suede ones? Much more solid compared to the canvas
I did downsize for these when I got em, mainly cus that's all we had at the shop I worked at but I think it was a good choice. Once the band broke the smaller size was the only thing that kept it on
After seeing this video and you for the first time ever, I sincerely can't see how you're not doing well on youtube with your "percentages". Maybe its your can-do attitude that makes it feel like you're already winning at life, i know rich people who are never near your level of happiness. So keep on doing your thing because im here for it and I wish you the best!
I get them a half size smaller because sometimes I’m unlucky enough to rip the elastic and the half size down will keep it on my foot even with the elastic band
I wear a size 8 and I went down to a size 7. They’re falling apart and are still a nice fit. Throw them in the microwave if going down a full size feels too tight. I still had enough room in length where it wasn’t an issue.
vans have just released a slip on pro with a cupsole. It's part of their bmx range but would be interesting to see how they skate compared to the normal vulc slip ons.
Christian, i would love to see a bunch of slip on reviews from various companies. The Emerica Wino G6 Slip is fantastic. Etnies has a slip-on, too. Maybe a year end comparison between models?
Yeah always go down half a size for slip ons they’ll feel tight but the elastics that are supposed to keep your foot in without laces eventually stretch and wear out .
I'm currently on my 4th pair of these and I usually buy my regular size AND have to swap out the ultra cush insole for an old skinny pair of lakai or nike insoles
i think it depends on the socks your using or your foot moisture.. I've been using different vans slip-ons and i even used the classic one's for skating and it never fell off o slip off
Plus vans have the best ankle roll ability (as in rolling your ankle) vs a tall cup sole bc ur feet are so close too the ground, so I get less ankle spraibs
lovers quarrel! haha i've never had a pair of any slip ons fall off while skating.. i just wear a good beefy sock to compensate for looseness and a little more board protection. i usually wear 9.5 in everything, but usually get these in a 10. always make sure my socks are straight if i wear these, so it don't feel loose at all. just my experience.
You should try the emerica wino g6 slips I've skated 3 pair so far and they're some of my favorite shoes and if you shop around you can normally find them for really good deals.
Was just thinking about how I get half a size down so that once they are broken in, they fit perfect when you asked about it haha. Might feel rlly snug at firsts but like you said in your experience and mine as well, vans get loose really fast so won’t be long before there broken in
Yooooo I came through to cali this last week from east coast and I was chillin everyday by Poods. Was so sick to see you haha, everyone tells me it's normal to see pros everywhere so I didn't want to bother your skate sesh. It really made my trip though. You killed the ledges that day :)
skated these shoes exclusively for 4 years best flick but my ankles werent fans anymore so i switched to midtops. my ankles like me better now but my flick doesnt, i think that qualifies as a lover quarrel?
i always skate slipons because they have the best flick and it makes my kickflips feel so buttery🤤 n if they feel loose i just put two socks on and you might say that you wouldn’t want to go extra just to make a shoe skate but ppl switch the insoles so what can you rlly do🤷🏽♂️ also i jump down stuff with slipons
Hey Christian its me. you. you should get them shoelaces out for sale so i can rock them when i skate...also hell yeah ima watch every single video u make. 😂 also....lover's quarrel
