Excellent video: No distracting music! And finally someone shows clearly how the unit looks in the car! I loved that you didn't detail every little thing about the camera because those long videos are overwhelming.
Thanks for the video, my friend! I installed the E3 in my 2020 Chevy Silverado and I am very pleased with the install. I watched a separate RU-vid clip on how to hardwire and removed passenger side panel. Very important to disconnect battery though if doing this because of passenger airbag. ONE MAJOR COMPLAINT I have with E3 is the parking mode. Yeah, it can record motion while you are away from vehicle but there is no way for you to be notified that motion was detected. I was under the impression this would operate similar to my home security cameras and send me a notification that motion was detected. As it is, the only way to see if the E3 recorded motion while you were away from vehicle is to get back into vehicle and spend 10 minutes reviewing the recorded clips. One additional (minor) complaint = I had to purchase an additional 3 foot USB-C extension to reach my rear camera since I ran the wire thru the floor trim. It came up just a little short, but was able to easily buy a 3 foot extension piece on Amazon
Yes if you need want to monitor your camera, you would need to have a cloud based camera with a wifi hotspot as well.I've learned that installing in the upper trim to the rear saves quite a bit cabling. Good to know about the extension!
Great review! Thanks for this. I actually pre-ordered this last month and installed it over the weekend. I didn't know the front lense moves around like that! I already removed the whole camera once to adjust it, but this will help so I don't have to remove it, since it's still not even in the front lol. The only downside I feel is that the camera is kind of big/bulky, but I rather have that than worse video quality.
I had the E2 installed and hardwired at my local Best Buy on my '21 Dodge Durango RT (3/30/24). I installed a Sandisk Extreme 512GB microSDXC card. I am impressed with the E2's performance and video quality. I have only tested parking mode in my driveway. In parking mode, you can adjust the settings' motion detection sensitivity and video frame rate. I use 5G wifi to view, download, and delete videos on my SD card by using the Vantrue app. I am still experimenting with other settings.
I have an ioniq 5! And someone just side swiped me today and knocked my miorr cover, breaking it in half :( off so came straight to RU-vid to get a dash cam! Thank you for the video!!
You didn’t mention that the fourth power option is to buy the optional Vantrue OBD II connector cable which is out of sight but doesn’t require the complicated work of hardwiring or of an ugly 12V connector or spending on a dash cam battery.
Great video, I need to install mine when I get a bit of free time. And you vide seriously is a help. Only 2 bad things I see are ( that are not your fault) A) put a USB in the light switch area on cars B) would be nice If rear camera was wireless, but might not due to mount of information?
Great review. I am in the market for a 3 channel camera system, and I was wondering what the differences are between the E3 and the N4. Your review was clean, in-depth and to the point.
The N4 has 4k resolution and the Sony v2 chip for better night vision but I heard it does get pretty hot and most likely take up more disk space. I think this is one of the best systems out there. The round smaller N4 I think doesn't have enough room for proper cooling. Make sure to get the battery pack for parking mode. I also really like the magnetic clip with no power attachments on the unit itself but, there is one for the rear camera. Better than having 2 wire inputs to remove. The Element series is a newer model and will do the job for what 95% of what is needed in any event. I'm also researching for a 3 camera one too. I'm not falling for the top of the line 4k ones sense they all drain fast and get very hot and in summer times, shut down due to heat. I really like this system. Hopefully this helps you out.
Good review. Was hoping for some nigh shots of license plates as this is when most of these cameras fall off and blow out the image. There was an opportunity for such a shot when you were coming off the highway in Abbotsford. Would love to know if you can still read a license plate illuminated by strong LED headlights. I'm looking to get a setup like this myself, but of all the products I tested, the night image quality is not all that great.
No dash cameras do that good in low light due to the size of sensor. If you get a camera that can record 60P, it robs even more light which will make your night shots suffer even more.I'll see if I can get a good screen grab for you. RU-vid doesn't do videos great justice though with their compression.
That's dog popo really! They have tought to have the main cable to the cradle itself then the cable for the rear camera attached from the front camera, honestly! All cables should be on the cradle, much easier.
awesome video! Do you have to press the "record" button every thing you enter the vehicle and exit the vehicle to start and stop recording? Or is it automatic and you don't need to think about it?
Just bought vantrue e3 camera from watching your video ! Best dashcam easy to use and reliable !!! I had a nexar one before and nexar one is TRASH!!!!waste of 400$ . I would say worst camera ever nexar one !!!
Great informational video! I was just wondering if the back camera could be mounted outside the car? I have a truck so a window mount would be too far away. If you covered this, I apologize, I was distracted for parts due to phone calls....
I have one question Parking mode Does it enter parking mode automatically when I turn off the engine Or do I need to activate it I do have the parking mode set for motion Once I turn off the car I don’t see anything showing that it’s on or in parking mode ?? An you help me please
Hey there I love you your video. Quick question I just got mine, but for some reason it just records in front of the road , how can I put it where to I can record the cabin as well thank you.
When you click on the red button that locks an event, does it lock like 5-10 min. before ? If you get into a crash, you usually won't be able to lock the event as it happens. So ideally it will lock (and save) the recordings from 5-10 min. before you clicked on the red button.
Love your Vids, Brian!!!, I purchased the Vantrue Element 3 and installed it on December 13th, 2022, and currently, it displays a speed at almost 30 mph faster than I am moving even after the latest firmware updates. I have not yet connected this to my fusebox, it uses the cigarette connection, I did not see this in the FAQ, have you heard of this or have a resolution for it. I Appreciate Your Time.
@@mermaid9419 vantrue emailed me an updated firmware to help resolve the speed difference issue. I believe that this is the current firmware that's running and will resolve your speed issue.
Is the issue with the speed on the video itself or on the camera when driving? I noticed when I download my videos the speed is accurate. However when I’m driving the screen on the camera shows me a speed of 30-40mph higher. I guess all that matters is that my speed is accurate on the actual footage. But it’s really annoying looking at the screen seeing I’m going 100-110 mph on the freeway in Cali. Always, how would you download new filmware? I don’t see a port on the camera that would allow you to plug it in to a computer. The only port on the camera is for the rear camera and SD slot. I figured when as long as my app is updated it will update the camera when I connect them via Wifi. Or am I wrong 🥴. I connected Vantrue about both issues but no reply yet. Maybe you can give me some insight on these issues from you experience. Thanks so much 😊
You will have to pull your micro SD card out, save your videos, and pics to a folder on your PC or Mac first. Download the firmware for your camera to your PC. Making sure you know where it downloads to...now copy and paste it into the cd card, which will go back into your camera. Please take a look at the instructions that are included with the firmware. No worries, it's very easy to update the firmware.
Before purchasing this dash cam I called customer service and asked them if I would be able to look outside of the front and rear dash cam at night while in my RV, through the app, and I was told that this was possible however, I cannot figure this out. Are you familiar with this?
You would need to enable wifi and connect to the app each time you want to view content on your phone. Most of these dash camera apps are more designed to review footage and download opposed to real time monitoring.
The E3 has a WiFi feature that allows you to connect to it with your phone via the app to view the camera, the recordings, and adjust its settings. This makes configurations and viewing footage so much easier compared to the N4. It also supports 512 GB of storage compared to 256 of the N4. In addition, the front lense can move left and right, the camera is more resistant to heat and the screen has a higher quality glass.
I have the x4s duo which is hardwired but i would like to switch to the e3 for the simple fact that its adhesive and not suctioned. Im in Virginia and it doesn’t get crazy hot but even when parked in the shade i come to the car with the cam just dangling around. Alot of hit and runs happen especially with my car being a gtr i just dont feel comfortable knowing my cam didnt catch footage. Would this be plug and play into my existing setup?
My camera has recently been asking SD card error even tho my memory card is 512 and it’s definitely not full idk what to do. And WiFi is not always connected but does record. And my app looks weird I need help 😩
It's type C but, I went from the x4s to this element 3. I thought the wire I ran for the x4s, which was time consuming, would work for the e3 but it did not! I had to rerun the USB c which came with the e3.
@@vinnysantangello8982 I'm in Europe, if I get pulled over I cordially greet the officers, hand over my driving license and after their checks, we cordially say good day to each other.
MY VANTRUE S2 WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS FOR THE FRONT AND DARK SHADOWS INTERIOR CAM IN DAYLIGHT I CHANGED EXPOSURE NOTHING HELPED SO LOOKING INTO ANOTHER CAMERA SO DOES THIS E3 HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH LOW LIGHT OR DARK SHADOWS IN THE DAYTIME?
I don't like the idea of the 3M adhesive ... prefer a suction cup also , the idea of a magnetic cam holder. a metallic screw on would have been better . Excellent video though
@EverydayReviews2022 I mean the camera doesn't stick to the adhesive pad, not the glass itself. I've used up all the adhesive pads provided and had to buy more.
I was disappointed with mine. The higher resolutions recordings were choppy, slow and would skip. Sometimes the camera gets extremely hot where you can't even touch it. Parking mode doesn't work correctly. Going to try a different brand.
Before you Advertising the camera advertise the app lol How can you say you have great cameras 📸 when the app it’s 50 years back 😮😮 It’s like future freeze 50 years back lol The app has 1* and 2nd app 2** what a joke 😂😂😂 If you can’t make the app great that means the camera is junk too 😢😢😢😢😢😢 It’s like saying I have 9 inches and can last 5-15 seconds lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂
