Great video - thank you! As another commenter states, travel to Cuba by US citizens remains complicated. I traveled there (mostly to La Habana) in July 1991, when it was mostly forbidden…except the father of a friend of mine from university was Chief of the US Interests Section (which represented US interests in Cuba between 1977 and 2015, before the brief resumption of diplomatic relations during the Obama administration). My friend’s family invited me for a visit, which required special permission from the State Dept. and the Dept. Of Treasury (because of the economic embargo). Let’s just say it was one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever made and I have very fond memories of my time there.

We are preparing for our I believe our 70th trip to Cuba over 32 years and we are well travelled and Cuba is one of the friendliest, safest , wonderful giving people, great beaches, great entertainment. We stay at the 3 1/2 star Roc Barlovento Hotel in Varadero where the staff do everything to make your holiday one to remember. When travelling the world don't expect the food to be the same as you are accustomed to. We have had no problem with food. Yes, some shortages but nothing to get up set about. (Butter, milk, peanut butter sometimes)

Si, I have visited Cuba twice and the food is most definitely the worst thing about the Country ... But not all Hotels are the same ... Research Hotel food quality ... FYI ... The older Hotels usually have the best beaches.

3:55 dijiste que no te puedes imaginar el servicio de comida en los hoteles "más antiguos" si el nuevo tenía una comida tan aburrida y mala. Pues, nunca se sabe de verdad, sí?... Creo que es totalmente posible que los cafés y restaurantes más antiguos sean los que están más maduros y "sazonados ", tanto en su comida como en su ética de trabajo. Los nuevos lugares no tienen la misma experiencia, tal vez. En realidad... Recomendaría los restaurantes más tradicionales y más antiguos cuando busques autenticidad. Mira la edad de un restaurante y lo sabrás! Además, puedes leer las reseñas en línea.

Why do you say that the food in Cuba is bad ? Can you be a bit more specific please ? I was in Varadero in the month of May in a 3 star all inclusive hotel and the food was not that bad ! Of course the Cubans don't eat spicy but the western buffet they had was similar to what we see in the west with a lot of fruits of course ! They had a nice caramel pudding too that I have never tasted in Canada. All in all I did not complain . The only thing we lacked was butter. On the whole even though Cuba is under a US embargo they put up a good show in our hotel . Therefore I would like you to be a more specific !

Go to any large city in the US or Canada and you will be shocked at what the prices are now since the pandemic. We were in Boston a couple weeks ago and it was over $400 a night, without food included

Less junk food means you lose fat and your health improves. Compare to Miami where theres a junk food place every 50 meters

@@HamiltonRb I live in Mexico now. I'm currently on vacation in Chiapas state. we just rented an entire house on air bnb for $28 Canadian a night for 10 nights. I think the point is that Israel has plenty of money and doesnt care about prices anywhere he goes.

This is your 2nd trip to Cuba, right? I think resorts like this his were built by the government specifically for tourists and to keep most Cubans away from foreigners and to bring in hard currency. What do you think?

Yes, Cubans are not allowed to go to these resorts, at least they weren’t when they were built and years after. If you go to Cuba and stay in Varadero the entire time you might as well have been in any other country, it’s not real Cuba.

Sorry Israel, but this time i have to say that this video was a waste of time and effort on your side. I don’t deny that Varadero is a beautiful beach, but it is highly overrated and it is a tourist trap. The price you paid for that hotel was a total rip-off by any standards. I like your honesty when talking about the food quality and the fact that you mentioned that there aren’t any cultural attractions worth visiting in that place. Overall, Cuba is a country ruled by a Communist dictatorship that oppresses its people, so please don’t spend your hard earned money over there. There are many more options in the Caribbean and Mexico that are far better than Cuba.

Cuba is probably the best destination in the Carribean. As far as oppresion goes, the US has worlds largest number of prisoners.

there are ways you can SUPPORT the Cuban people though that’s the focus of my trips I’d stay in Matanzas and visit Varadero that’s how I’d do it

Correction my basic geographical knowledge lacking fellow ,baradero being on Cuba's north coast is on the north atlantic just east of the gulf of mexico ,actually close to where the atlantic and the gulf waters meet ,the straight of florida , the Caribbean coast of cuba is on the sothern part of the island from west to east... neither are the Bahamas in the Caribbean.
