@@StergiosSotiriou i went to high school with travis and was pretty solid friends with him back when he was the vocalist for "day of ruin". i can assure you, that you are correct and he would not be the one to give up his dream over some girl. this man worked hard to get to where he was and it sucks he had to step down due to health issues.

As someone who's battled severe depression and anxiety my entire life, I can understand the reasoning, but many would stop at nothing to maintain the position in the scene that he had at the time he decided to step back. It just seemed very mysterious and like a major shame considering the timing. Gotta do what you gotta do though.

Ya know, I saw Have Mercy with these dudes a couple years back in San Diego at SOMA. Saw the merch dude of Have Mercy and bought a hoodie n hat. The entire time I was conversing with HM merch dude, this guy kept talking to me and trying to reel me into Varials merch, but was having NONE of it cuz I wasn't the most familiar of them. LO AND BEHOLD....I WAS TALKING TO TRAVIS AND HAD NO CLUE. NOW THEY'RE MY FAV BEATDOWN BAND EVER AND I CANNOT STOP LISTENING TO EM. OH...THE HUMANITY.

Huge compliments on the whole new album guys, I've been practically listening to it on repeat the past few months. This is not a futile compliment since I tend to be very picky on my music preferences. In Darkness simply has such a superior and aggressive sound, that other heavy metal albums just don't achieve. Also brilliant songwriting with a perfect combination of hardcore and groove. You've made a lifelong fan, greetings from Finland!

This sums up my feelings perfectly. The deftones / nine inch nails influences on this album mixed with heavy guitar tones and gnarly vocals really make me feel so nostalgic. I fuckin love this album so much and I won’t stop listening to on the daily any time soon

Happy for Trav if it means he can move away from the toxicity that being in the band has come to, and focus on his mental health. However I can't say i'm going to continue listening to Varials here on out. Vocally, lyrically, and performance-wise Travis made this band what it was. The band with a new vocalist is most likely going to do a complete 180 and is just going to sound like diet Varials. Nothing against, and no disrespect to Matt from Boundaries, however I don't think his vocals are a good fit, or properly capture what Varials is. Excited to follow Travis in whichever other metal or musical endeavours he decides to follow in the upcoming years, keep your head up king.

It is a shame Travis is stepping down... Similar happened to the band Casey. Tom Weaver said he was no longer the man who wrote those lyrics years ago, so it was not healthy for him to put energy into something he was not feeling. I hope the best for Varials, we all hope to hear those insane vocals again, pure art. Edit: Casey band stopped all together, lets hope it does not happen to Varials in the upcoming months. This reminds me somewhat of Northlane as well, but in the end Marcus Bridge brought talent into the band.

I still don't understand Weaver's decision. Ok he doesn't feel his lyrics anymore but he also stated that he writes lyrics only after getting through events? Anyway that's such a shame bands like Casey and Varials are shattering :(
