Oh to live somewhere with more than 100 frost free days! Gardening is a fast rush up here in Canada and if planted to late there will be frost before harvest...up in zone 3. Hybrid cucumbers are growing well for me this year...as well as my hybrid tomatoes...

I can’t find almost any growers on RU-vid in my growing zone...at least no one that’s interesting like you to listen too.😂 I’ve still learned so many things from you that I can modify and use right where I’m at! Thank-you!

Oh my goodness! You introduced me to the cucumber that needs not pollinator, and I started doing my research to see if there are parthenocarpic squash, and there are! We have a hoophouse, and this changes everything. I can't thank you enough for pointing me in this direction. I'm going to also try to find tomatoes that need no pollination too. With putting insect mesh over our crops, this will help us grow more, and more efficiently. Oh thank you, dear child!! God bless you💕

I'm excited for all the varities your growing. I am going to try my hand at root crops this year, I'm nervous but excited at the same time. I grew a batch of carrots, it was a semi-bust but I'm glad I did it. They were so tasty too!

Washington state west side zone 8a , today is June 13th we have had rain for several days and temps in the 50's low 60's. No change expected anytime soon . Some times weather just says no nor this year. Still can grow greens and root vegetables but no tomatoes, peppers or anything that needs more than 60 days of 70 degrees or higher. Got any good recipes for how to eat moss ?

I started hybrid tomatoes(Jet Star, Celebrity, Better Boy...) and they waaaay out-performed my heirlooms. We are extremely hot and humid as well here in SE Virginia. So. I will always grow heirloom for seeds...and always grow hybrid for an actual abundance of FOOD on the table. 😁

Hey, Jill. We received our Fathers Day order about an hour ago. Was it supposed to be frozen? My husband was at home and said that it was not. We are trying to determine if we can freeze what we are not using immediately. He said that he is very impressed by the variety. He said the pork chops are just like he likes them, but we have received things that were supposed to be frozen upon delivery before that ended up being bad. Seriously, nasty! I love you guys so much! Thank you!

I only started gardening 3 years ago. I said I would only plant heirlooms. Well Arkansas weather and pests are brutal and I now know why my dad always planted hybrids. So this year I have a mixture. Every time I day I will never I end up eating those words.

Hi! Jill, I live in Oklahoma it’s my second year gardening and we have done a massive expanse this year To maximize our growing space and maximum yield for food storage I’m very passionate about cooking for a family of six and I want to know where my food is coming from and love the blessing of taking food from our garden and enjoying with my family. Growing lettuce and spinach in Oklahoma is a little bit of a challenge past June everything has seemed to bolt very quickly is there a specific type of Savoy spinach that you use in your area? and do you have any other seeds that you have as your tried-and-true for the hot and muggy weather that seemed to do well I currently have all raised garden beds we do not have the space for a high tunnel hopefully in the future. Thank you for any information and all the work that you put into these videos they are packed full of so much information and I love to see your smiling face🥰

Why do you plant your paste tomatoes in the fall? When do you actually plant them out? I'm in SE Kansas (Zone 7a) and my first round drown in the downpour we had lately.
@WhisperingWillowFarm
@WhisperingWillowFarm 2 года назад
We typically don't use a lot of paste tomatoes in the summer so we wait and grow them last to preserve for the fall and winter

What soil do you use ?, I am finding that some of my garden seedlings are stunted and wonder if it is because of our Kellogg's raised garden bed soil mix ?? My peppers are 1" tall and were planted 2 months ago !!!
@domesti-city
@domesti-city 2 года назад
Hi Beth, I used the Kellogg's raised bed mix in the top layer of my new metal raised beds sitting in full sun, and had most of my veggies seem stunted after planting out including peppers, squash, beans, and zinnias. They were all growing quickly before I planted them out. I gave them all some gypsum, and started dosing them with fish emulsion and liquid seaweed fertilizer. It has taken a month, but the plants are now starting to take off. The tomatoes and the cucumbers recovered first. For comparison, the zinnias from the same sowing that I planted in containers with different soil are three times the size of those in the raised beds.
