As a black American I watched this movie on repeat as a child. The songs- although I couldn’t translate them- resonated so heavy in my spirit. Still one of the best soundtracks of our lifetime.
Im Jamaican,and some of the words i dont understand but i feel every emotion in each song...this movie hits home for me. Sadly some of us still have to fight today in 2020 for right to be black

@@TFS867 which whole world? Sarafina is about apartheid South Africa and the struggle for freedom. Every colonized African country has a version of this story in a way. I will never see it as a story of the whole world because it isn't.

I played Sarafina in Primary and High school...... i still remember people from Scotland 🏴 came to our school (primary)to watch us playing Sarafina. I’m still here 2021 best movie ever I still cry everytime I watch it ✊🏾

I was a little girl back in 1992 when i watched Sarafina and heard all these songs. They influenced me in many ways, my thinking, my actions, the way I perceive life and the TRUTH that the world is never just. The best of the movies I ever watched.
The song titled Sabela is fitting as a description for some of the politicians who are only concerned about their own stomachs and pockets. Very fitting.

Today 23rd December 2023 my daughter played these songs on RU-vid because she loves sarafina so much...... she's 12 and everytime it's sarafina,much ❤❤❤ from Kenya 🇰🇪.
I was 13 yrs old when i watched Sarafina for the first time, it gave me a great awakening. I started to research on our great royal history and authentic rich culture...what a blessing this was and is.
It is unfortunate that Mbongeni Ngema the father of this playwright and music passed on this month January 2024. May his soul rest in peace. We lost an Icon who made S.A. and Africa at large be known internationally.
