I miss my old 88 Blue Bird with the jackknife door 503-6978. Hated those FS-65 THOMAS W/Freightliners. They were better with the Internationals. I don't miss my Gas Carpenters w/international I drove.wit da stick parking brake in the floor. Bus# 503-4941 and 503-4998. RIP.. My Baby (BRAND NEW) 507-2022 '96 Thomas Saf-t-liner! 💔Sumter School District #17. I wonder what happened to our BUS #0 (SPARE) 503-4166 GAS WAYNE BUS w/International also wit the jackknife door.
Loved both of my 87 and 88 s1800 internationals 503-7033 and 503-6753 bothe where number 51 but 7033 was my favorite it had the 9.0 and 6753 had a 7.3 I've also had one that had a 6.9 boy those old diesels where gutless and extremely loud can hear them for miles screaming on the governor going 40 with your foot through the floor but they where simple and very reliable unlike this new garbage kids don't get the same feel we did like slamming those windows down with broke clips no heat hardly and being deaf from those old v8 diesels I no longer drive school buses or work for the mantince dept I always drove in Cherokee county. I did drive a 98 or 99 international Thomas 3800 with the dt408 loved it as well love my bluebirds but I have a soft spot for the older Thomas built NC spec buses always could tell by the wipers if it was a Thomas
