Thunivu, for a number of reasons: shorter runtime (+ no unwanted songs), unexplored genre of film (after Mankatha), unique protagonist (like JD in Master), prolific director in H. Vinoth, grand, elaborate action set pieces, a supposedly brilliant climax twist [according to Samuthirakani] and no commercial/ family compromises.
I really hope Thunivu is good as it will push more big actors in the industry to try something out of their comfort zone of commercial cinema. I really hope Thunivu is another Vikram. At the same time I really wish Varisu strikes a chord with the audience. I hope the movie is as grounded as the trailer.

Had serious hopes about Thinuvu.. Saw the interview where the director says the first half is for fans and second half is for everyone. I'm a bit scared that it'll be another preachy movie now.

So back to back action experimental film panna, konjam family audience loose aaga chance irukku. And lokesh needs time to finish the script after vikram. family audience and fans kaga feel good aana movie dhan varisu. A silence before the storm. Not only that, ellarum inga vijay is not the main reason for T67, it is Lokesh nu solitu irukanga. But everyone knows, it is neither vijay nor lokesh, it is the colab they gonna make for the movie, without both the hype not going to be this high. From lokesh side, it is gonna be 100% his film and from thalapathy side, will he be in the LCU or not. If he comes into the LCU, with his stardom it will be healthier for tamil cinema.

For me Varisu. Although Thunivu does have a gripping story, it is a big risk for Ajith as there is a 50% chance for it to fail or succeed due to it being a heist. This is a new type of film for Tamil audience and will be judged harder. Whereas Varisu is a family entertainer and no matter how bad the story can be, a family entertainer always has some enjoyable factor. Plus this is been a concept which has been around for many years and is accepted by Tamil audience. However, I do pray Varisu has less cringe and family sentiment and more action packed storyline.
Thunivu seems like a high risk film. So, until I watch these movies, Varisu looks like a safe winner. If Vinoth pulls something extraordinary, both films would go toe to toe. Analum Thunivu Diwali movie nu thonudhu.😅

Varisu seems to be the.usual feel good.family movie. Thunivu brings elements of.suspense and surprise. Hoping.it is.something on the level of Mankaatha or Vikram. P.S if it is inspired by inside.man or.swordfish.and well.done, then its.gonna be a blast!!
I hope 2 films will make a good box office collection but having such big heroes in their movies the directors definitely want to put some extra masala into the film. which sometimes disappoints the neutral audience

No, if this movie flops, this will put him in grave danger. Now Lokesh has more control over his direction post Vikram's success and if Thalapathy interferes, he can cancel and put another actor easily Never underestimate Lokesh, he has the power to make characters unforgettable. Till now most of his supporting characters like Narain, Arjun Das, Shri, Charlie are strongly known for Lokesh's characters, despite them playing many roles.

As H.Vinoth said, Don't influence others based on what few people like. You can express your views, and compare to money heist also. But, even money heist has emotions which the other characters carry through out the series other than the lead. Don't generalize your views on others, atleast say the disclaimer as your views.

On the other hand, Ajith kumar sir's mirattal body language. Still there are people who loves the presence of entry of top shots. Thats cinema right...... beyond the content, genre or anything to categorize after. Both films gives unique scales and mood settings.
