there is so many questions but no reply most of them. and this is abit of disappointing to people whose watching the video and love doing their own reborn doll because of this. for all peoples creating a video, expect the question to comes from people's whose watching. or in the other hand they expect the answer from whose creating or making this video. this is only my opinion.
This was awesome, Jackie! I'm definitely gonna try this on the doll I'm painting now! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and technique. Have a great weekend. ☺️
Jackie, thank y so much for your videos! Your works are beyond adjectives! I would love to just sit and watch you create....not in a weird creepy stalker kinda way, just love your style and creativity!
Thank you for this!! Really helps out newbies like myself. I've been trying to decide how to varnish- finish my doll and this is the answer👍 so grateful to you! 😋
I hope you do get this. I wanted to know what you would recommend for sealing/ varnishing vinyl babies now that I can't get a hold of any of the thinning mediums? So frustrating. TY 💯🥰
I would have never thought to add thinning medium to varnish. Do you find that the medium in any way makes the painting less durable? I guess what I'm asking is, does thinning the varnish dilute the varnish?
Five years experience!?!?! I assumed you had 10+ you are truest gifted! I been at it about longer than you, not by much, and you and Ladonna Briggs are my inspiration!
Thank you so much for sharing. I recently painted my first reborn doll and I love how she turned out using your way of tearing the sponge in half. I see the texture you're talking about in this video. She turned out having a beautiful skin texture! Thank you sooooo much for showing us your tips to making a beautiful baby
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Ian Gerald Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi! I have to revarnish one of my babies. I’ve never done it before and I’m so nervous, I don’t want to ruin her! I have the varnish and the sponges; I’m just wondering what kind of brush you’re using? Thank you!!!
Hi. I bought a reborn baby but her skin is sticky and glittery. Can i apply matte varnish on a finish doll or can you tell me please how can i fix the problem? I only wnat her to have matte finish not glittery. Tnxx
Beautiful your work. Can I use the thinning medium by himself for sealing air dry paint if yes how many coats and how long and what temperature to bake. Thanks
I know this is old but I have a question. I heard you say you varnished twice one in middle ish to protect paint and at the end. My issue with air dry has been that I could seal my work whenever I wanted with genesis and with acrylic if I make a mistake I have to risk ruining too many layers ECT do u know if I can do this with acrylics
I did not know you could seal a reborn with just thinning medium. I have issues with matte varnish as it seems a lot of people do. Would you suggest painting hair with thinning medium too? It seems to me the look would be more realistic. I have yet to start my Charlotte kit. As for your dogs, they are adorable, I have six monsters myself. Ha Ha!!!! Thank-you so much for sharing some tips with us as some of the products can be a little confusing. Great video.
+Essie Rosenthal Yes. You can seal with any medium you like , as long as it bakes the necessary amount of time. I have only ever sealed with TM or matte varnish. But, I do not like the matte varnish - its too dull for my liking. As for thinning medium for painting hair. When I paint eyebrows and hair/hairline, I only use thinner. I dont know how TM will look :( So sorry I am of no help here.
Hi jackie I have a question. Is it possible to seal the doll after using air dry acrylics without having an oven? Is there anything available that can be used ? I really don't want to risk ruining my work by using the wrong thing. I hope u can help
Maybe you have used too thick layer of varnish? I had the same problem ,I had varnished reborns hand twice and I had to strip all out cause hand appeared very rough. :(
Hey Jackie I have a question, I recently heard people put cornstarch in the matte varnish, do you think that is a good idea? I wanna try it because no matter what I do my baby's still end up shiney
Thank you for sharing love your videos..does the thinning medium take the shine away also if you have any shine on your doll after painting, thank you😊
Can you do a tutorial on how to paint eyebrows? Eyebrows aren't my strongest skill... Thanks for the video, it makes it simple for me. All the other tutorials on this are super difficult, so thanks for making it easy!! I really appreciate it!! Also, I hope this doesn't come off rude, but does the thinning medium really work as a sealer? Like, have you had any experiences where it didn't completely seal the paints?
Was wondering this myself as ive never heard of using thinning medium by itself as a sealer, thought it was just used as an alternative to thinners to mix paint without it being to runny.
I'm confused still, after watching this and reading all the replies. Are you sealing ONLY using Thinning Medium or are you mixing the Matte Varnish and TM together, or what. If you're sealing with TM, does that leave a Matte finish without shine? Thank You!!
she says varnish and thinning medium. thinning it makes it spreads better and you will have less crustiness from over coating after it dries. always inspect the kit before you heat set. you can lightly buff out any crusties you see :)
@@wisteriacottagenursery9290 No she doesn't she say "You will need a varnish " in her case she's calling thinning medium as her varnish.she uses Genius thinning medium only..
Hi Jackie, I want to start reborn, which beginning starter kit you recommend? And where in the house is best to create my station . I have a large laundry room . Emma
I use thinning medium right out the jar. So basically all i do is take a brush, dump it right in the jar, brush the sealer on the doll, and pounce it. And that works best 4 me!🙄🙂😊
Jackie Ortiz I have two body plates that I bought on ebay and I want to get them painted for my two saskia twins, how can I get the paint to do the skin tone on them?
I used a matte varnish by bountiful baby on my painted kit once dry and out of my Nuwave oven but adding the matte varnish removed the paint. Any suggestions as to what I could do instead?
I have found that matt varnish makes my doll have crusty spots, I am gonna try just the thinning medium to see how that works on a spare limb. Thanks for the suggestions.
Kimberly Stevens try thinning it more then apply. The matte is hard for me to work with I usually mix it with something else like satin or thinning medium as she did here and then mineral spirits to thin it all down. You can always go in with a second coat after baking
+Laura Gates I bake it for 8 minutes at 275 F. I bake my vinyl 3 to 4 times. So, I bake for 8, then let it cool, then bake again...for a total of 3-4 times :) I hope that helps! Oh, and I am no longer taking customs. I have babies available for adoption from time to time on my facebook and instagram page. Thank you so much for inquiring.
This is so cool. And after this layer, you paint again and then another varnish layer? My dad wants me to start reborning. I don't feel it's a good idea, but he insists. Would you mind sharing what items I need to start with if I ever decide to do it? Thank you Jackie 😊
No. I varnish in the middle just to seal half of my work. Then I paint, paint, paint, and once I am done, I seal again. No need to deal after every layer. It's actually not a good idea to. You will waste a lot of time and will make your baby unnecessarily varnished... Which can crack if it's too thick. As for beginner tips, I think I will share a video. It will be much easier to explain like that.
I recently purchased a reborn with very rough texture. The artist recommend a damp cloth with water would ease the varnish roughness. But it hasn't. The last baby I purchased from her wasn't rough like this. Genisis paints were used. But I'm not sure what brand of varnish/ sealant. Thank you
Ellen Hankins I hope it’s ok I answer in my experience. Hopefully you get more replies soon. I would try using mineral spirits on a sponge and dabbing over the doll. Don’t rub it or anything gently dab like she is in the video but with mineral spirits (paint thinner) this is what is used to mix genesis paints and also used to take harshness away if needed
