Vasco Rossi is the most important italian rock star and he supported Maneskin for Sanremo competition and then for ESC. And now Vasco has to say thanks to Maneskin if the other country are discovering his music.
Vasco is a legend, been on the Italian music scene the past 40 years. He's a poet, wrote many ballads, and his fans know every single word of his songs. I would say the most important part of his work is the lyrics, not music, not the singing, but his interpretation. Unfortunately much of the meaning and the beauty of the lyrics is lost in translation, many Italian words or expressions are concepts that take many English terms to be explained. Anyway, check out more performances from this Modena Park concert, Sballi ravvicinati, or Gli spari sopra.
to understand Vasco Rossi outside Italy takes a hell of a leap of faith - I mean he's so eradicated in Italian culture from the times of Albachiara, Vita Spericolata, Siamo Solo Noi etc. it goes beyond music.
@@unghiakatiamatteotitone6109 ovviamente uno decide cosa ascoltare io passo dai Nanowar a Murubutu, da De André agli AC DC e adoro l'opera lirica. "There are who says no" (There are who say no) is one of the many masterpieces that Vasco Rossi produced during his very long career (781 career concerts😱) that made entire generations dream. He is not a singer. Vasco Rossi is THE LEGEND. NO CAP. IN this video taken from a docufilm prepared especially to celebrate his career is the concert held at the "Modena Park" in Italy, which recorded the ABSOLUTE WORLD record of paying spectators! EXACTLY 220000 PEOPLE! Will it mean something? And if you're wondering who's the best solo guitarist ever, it's called Vince Pastano. Proud to be Italian💪
Modena Park isn't a stadium, a football arena! It is a big open area on the outskirts of Modena. How can a stadium hold 1/4 of a mln people? That stage alone was massive...
@@BritPopsReact Technically a monster stage.... Long more than 160 meters wide more than 20 meters high I do not remember ... Like 100 km of fiber optic cables to connect all the speakers and not create difficulties for the spectators. More 120 or 130 trucks to bring the material and I remember something like 700,000 watts for audio not to mention monitors laser lights etc. ...
@Quirico Solinas You have impressive stats, do you work there? Thank you for the comment, I may borrow some of those facts if we do another reaction to this venue.
@@BritPopsReact I was at the concert (but luckily I wasn't one of the first 20,000, as they had obviously opened the entrance to the Modena park 24 hours earlier, it was freezing at night and the civil protection services had to distribute thousands of blankets because people were simply freezing).
@@BritPopsReact Perhaps the song that gives the best idea of how many people were there is the first one, "Colpa di Alfredo", the video gives the best idea of the stage and the people around it and the many speakers distributed in the park. The song is very pleasant, an ironic ballad (of many years ago, so maybe not politically correct in the language of this period) on the fact that sometimes we have illusions for no particular reason. Copy and paste from Wikipedia "The stage at Enzo Ferrari park was 165 metres (541 ft) long and stood 8 metres (26 ft) off the ground. It featured five large video screens with a total area of 1,500 square metres (16,000 sq ft). Four of these were set on tracks, so that they could move sideways depending on the video scenography required during each song. The remaining four screens, two per side, were installed within PIT 3. Special effects were produced by 2,100 light points and 140 lasers. Transportation of all the staging equipment required a total of 136 semi-trailer trucks.[11][12] The sound was played through a 750,000-watt L-Acoustics audio system consisting of 900 speaker modules connected by 100 kilometres (62 mi) of fiber optic cables, with 29 sound towers to allow all 230,000 viewers along a 400-metre (1,300 ft)-long lawn to listen without return or echo effects. According to production staff, one megawatt of energy was consumed during the concert. The two main towers located in front of the stage, each containing 80 speaker modules, were suspended using two-ton cranes for each tower."
I have no idea why, but all I could think of was the Rock Opera “Tommy” you are right it didn’t need to be in English. That guitar solo was amazing. You guys are slowly turning me to rock music, A genre I have never really listen to. Thank you so much for sharing xxx
@Elaine Howard That was fun!! Glad you enjoyed it and what an amazing concert. Let's see what you think of the latest release from "The Man Squeeze!!! wait to you hear that guitar solo!! Enjoy and have a fabulous day
For the record we were 260,000 people (225,173 paying tickets)! Vasco are only discovering you now, after more than 30 years!!! Better late than never! 😜
Vasco in Italy is without a shadow of a doubt the N.1 rockstar ever, there's no comparison ... You appreciate the music, the live performance, but the lyrics are the real heart of Vasco greatness !! And his band has always been a world class one, as much as his audience !! Try other Vasco songs in some of his live performance, so you can discover a real rock monster ...
PFM, italian rock band, had a live in NY and Toronto in 1974. The drummer Di Cioccio was called by Led Zeppelin for an audition. On youtube you can find their live in Tokio in 2002. Some bases on italian rock past, and sorry for my english
im a spaniard and been followed italian music for many years and love their jazz, blues, and opera they do everything brilliantly . check out lara fabien completely different with her song caruso it will bring shivers with her beautiful voice. im a rocker and love her style, listen to gianna nanni and also mina with her bluesy style and her song is the bar scene in the goodfellow.
@john ortensio Hola señor and thank you for popping into our channel. We have been on a bit of an Italian journey with Maneskin and we were asked to check out Vasco and we are pleased that we did. We have another Italian coming very soon and we may explore more, so thank you for your recommendations. Thanks you for watching.
As an italian, I have to ley you know… Lara Fabian is not the most italian singer… She came out in the country she actually grewed up, Belgium. Here in Italy, Ww mainly know her as an international artist with italian roots, but his music is not part of our heritage. Adagio is the only song we know and just because went an hit abroad. Later she participated even in Sanremo, but… nothing special. In Italy we don't appreciate so much opera-pop, only Il Volo is loved, because for their vocal style, wich is a good balance between opera and pop voice. Lara Fabian sounds a little too much (and a little kitsch) for italian average taste.
Dear English friends... Vasco Rossi was (in the early '80) the first successful rock author in Italy in the most classic sense (in Italy they had depopulated the beat groups in the late sixties, followed throughout the first half of the seventies by great progressive bands: the "Premiata Forneria Marconi", or "PFM", the "Area - International Popular Group", the "Osanna", the "Banco del Mutuo Soccorso" , etc. etc. etc. and were a great success especially some great songwriters in those years and before); Vasco Rossi made some remarkable albums at the beginning (between 1978 and 1982), the first three or four, then he only gratified a not very demanding fan-base (his "originality", if there was one, disappeared then, although he continued to write some good songs) (the first albums however are pretty beautiful).
As far as I'm concerned... in Italy in the eighties there was almost only one "great" band, a punk band, the "CCCP fedeli alla Linea", then became "CSI" ("Consorzio Suonatori Indipendenti"), equally "great". Among the various good groups in the nineties I point out the "Marlene Kuntz" (the first album in particular, the songs "Nuotando nell'aria", "Lieve", "Canzone di domani"); there are others (many others) but the comment is already too long.
About this and the relationship between Italians and English... Robert Wyatt made a cover of a remarkable CSI (Consorzio Suonatori Indipendenti, ex CCCP) song, "Del mondo" (and I never understood if I really liked it, since the CSI version is really well characterized).
Wow!!
Ecco come è andata : It happened in 1990, when Vasco, after playing at San Siro and Flaminio in Rome, was called by the very famous band to open their Italian lives. And Vasco said no. Because? In the calendar of the band of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, there were also three concerts in Italy, on 25 and 26 July in Rome and 28 in Turin: the Stones had not come to our country since 1982. And, despite everyone expecting a triple sold out, sales slowed after the initial boom. And, promoter David Zard thought about joining a strong Italian artist to the band. And Vasco was the solution proposed a few days after the first live. And Blasco refused. As told by Enrico Rovelli, who was Vasco's manager at the time: "The proposal is flattering both for me and for Vasco, a candidate to save the concerts of the legendary group. Done today, however we consider it rushed, and therefore impossible. A collaboration in this level must be seriously organized long before and not in extremis. " And many years later, Giorgio Verdelli, director of Unici, with an episode dedicated also to the singer, declared: "No one else would have refused, and I believe that this is the reason for the success of Vasco, who is an artist aware of his own strength too. in front of one of his favorite bands. 40 thousand spectators went to the Stones concert, but Vasco at San Siro scored a double with 110 thousand. [...] Despite being a fan of theirs, Vasco did not accept, saying that perhaps in Italy the Rolling Stones could open for Vasco Rossi. "
Yes, Vasco is a single player, the fame is locked with him names, but is much more close to the group band rather to the singer. In the beguinning him have a solid band with him, the same person for year, but with a carrier so long of course the band become much more fluid. Even the famous band anyway are used to join with themself other musician for the live show, the only differents is in the name, is something like the name of the band of Vasco is Vasco also. Sorry my bad english.
Vasco is pop rock, an easy rock mixed with the italian tradition, the same style of groups like Litfiba or Subsonica. But then there are niche rock bands such as Balletto di Bronzo (Progressive, '70es); PFM (Progressive, 70es - 2021); CCCP (Punk, '80es); Prozac+ (Progressive, 90es); Afterhours (Alternative, 80-2021).
Can’t tell how I love these reactions, good job, as an Italian I’m ashamed I haven’t listened to Vasco until now (but I’m also young) so thanks mane skin italian rock as been rediscovered a bit😂😂😂
@NicolaPennesi Thank you or the great comment, we have found so many new artists and bands from doing this channel and it has reignited our passion for music and made us more open to music in all languages and styles. (Vasco Modena Park 2017.)
Vasco is a God here..he is able transcend generations..he once refused to open for the Stones ..he didn't need to . He can sell out stadiums one hundred times over by himself.
11:23 As you can see, Italy is not only Opera and Pavarotti but is much more and not only starting from the Måneskin ! The only “problem” is that many things have not been known abroad for years.
@Aris1956 Thank you for the comment, but at the moment Maneskin are doing a great job at opening up the ears of Europe to songs not in English and from that people are also looking at other bands too, just like we have. Thanks for watching.
In 2017 Vasco was 65 :) one of the guitarists is Stef Burns who also played with Motorhead, Alice Cooper, ozzy osbourne and Faith No more.. After Stef started to work with Vasco he never decided to leave... @Donatella Borcicci Belloni Thank you for the great comment and the fun fact regarding Stef Burns, we have recently done our "Metal Mondays" and reacted to Motorhead, Ozzy with Black Sabbath and soon we will get to Alice Cooper, we only recently found "Faith No More" so for this gentleman to have played in all of those and now Vasco, he must be a very great talent indeed. He sounded great in this song. We will try and do a follow up to Vasco, we only do this part time and get to record about twice a week, so the reactions that come out may are already done and it may take a while to get to others. We go all over the place and this reaction came from people in the comments, so we do tend to listen to what is being requested. Thanks for popping in.

here in Italy Vasco is God, it is a concept of generations and the deadly fusion of unique live shows, drum and guitar solos that enter your soul and live in your breaths forever, thanks for appreciating him brothers ❤️thanks Vasco for all the emotions given since I was a child ❤️❤️❤️
Vasco Rossi is so intimate Italian that I struggle to believe it can be analyzed outside of his context. He is not only a rockstar (with lots of reckless moments in his early life), he also is a poet (no way to listen to his songs without italian language knowledge). His songs are a book about his life, our life and the emotions that to be understood and fully appreciated require at least to have an in depth knowledge of our culture and our way of life. While I appreciate the effort, I believe it is almost impossible to do a proper “reaction” on Vasco
"Blasco" is an alter ego (like Maneskin Have Marlena ),"a strange animal / with strange cravings". And so commented Vasco Rossi about his nickname BLASCO

Hello guys, I really liked your reactions about Vasco Rossi. I hope you can do Gli Angeli live from 1996, still a Vasco song and performance (from the whole band as always with him) which is a true rock masterpiece. Thank you for your reactions, from an Italian based in London :)
Italians talk figuratively in common speech too, our lyrics are always more important than music. You're going to miss the best part if you don't check, in real time or beforheand, what singers are saying.
@Lidia Cossu Berte Thank you for the comment, we do have another from Vasco coming soon, sorry we didn't pick this one. Maybe next time.. Thanks for watching
Good reaction, I was one of those who recommended this. Give Vasco Rossi - "Gli Angeli" Live 1996 a go, it's a sad song as Vasco is singing about a friend (ex manager) he lost to cancer at a relatively young age. The guitar work in this is of the highest calibre. make sure it's the live version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LGc7Z_HGzdo.html Many of his album tracks sound completely different to his live performances, they have a softer sound whereas in concert the instruments really kick in and give it a completely different sound, so I personally prefer the lives because of that.
Loved your reaction guys! I know, it could be pretty surprising discovering that Italy doesn't offer only Pavarotti! There is a great song of Vasco called "Gli Angeli" (a pretty sad one, i have to say, if you want to break down the lyrics), that ends with a guitar solo (by Micheal Landau on the record) that is truly a masterpiece...
@Marco Cardona Thank you for the comment and the nice information. We are trying to keep up with requests but it's getting harder. Let's see where we go. Thank you for watching.
@@BritPopsReact no worries! It's just for your pleasure: i think it's one of the best solos ever recorded by M L... But again, the studio version: Stef is super cool, but you should have a listen to the original...
Hi, I don't know if you know a little about Italian pop-rock music, but I feel obliged to say that the only difference between this and English or American-produced music is the industrial and media apparatus that has prevailed over the decades over everything else. Italian production, seeing is believing, has nothing to envy of the one mentioned, indeed it is often even superior in terms of creativity and content. There are dozens of valiant artists or groups that touch every musical genre (prog, jazz-rock, rock, melodic pop, funk, etc..) Some random names from the 70s to today: PFM, Banco, Area, Perigeo, Vasco Rossi, Matia Bazar, Finardi, Gianna Nannini, Branduardi, De Andrè, Fossati, Bennato, Subsonica, Pino Daniele, Elio e le Storie Tese, the maestro Paolo Conte, Silvestri, Elisa, Caparezza, Maneskin, Diodato, etc etc, or Jestofunk and Planet Funk for pop-dance, etc. Let's not talk about the jazz field where it is rather recognized that Italian jazz musicians are among the best in Europe and internationally. In short, all this is to say that the excessive anglo-saxon musical and entertainment industrial power has prevented good communication and relationships between the creative realities of the countries, therefore there has been a lot of ignorance about the real musical artistic level of European countries and in this case of Italy . Perhaps it is time to rebalance these inequalities.
@C4duke Yup, great solo and an interesting guitarist, I did not know of him before, but I do now and all the bands he has played in. A lot of them are your cup of tea mate!!
Be careful on your scoring about Vasco as he hasn't fans in Italy, he has disciples😂 and you don't want to make them angry😂. Joking 😉.
