Hello, I do perform vasectomies as well. The vasectomy procedure is much less complicated than the reversal and many urologists perform vasectomies in their office. I first pioneered, then perfected a new technique for vasectomy reversal (the mini-incision microsurgical vasectomy reversal or vasoepididymostomy), one which permits a male fertility surgeon to relieve extraneous blockage through microsurgery. This technique has allowed me to achieve a 98% success rate for vasectomy reversals. In fact, many of the urologists and male fertility doctors who perform microsurgical vasectomy reversals today use the techniques that were developed and perfected by me.Vasectomy reversal is not only possible but is highly successful when performed by an experienced male infertility micro-surgeon. Unfortunately, other doctors without these special skills will often attempt to perform the surgery themselves, rather than referring the patient to a male infertility specialist. To have your best chance for success, you should see a specialist. As a patient, you will need to make sure that your doctor performs the procedure regularly and successfully. You never stop making sperm. The vasectomy procedure doesn't change that fact at all. All it does is prevent the sperm you are continuing to make on a daily basis be able to go through the vas deferens and out of the penis

+Shawna C. Hi Shawna, I am not sure there is a "type" of vasectomy that can't be reversed. Urologists are obligated to tell patients that vasectomies are not reversible so that the patients consider its permanence before they do it. That being said most vasectomies are reversible or sperm can be extracted to use with IVF. Best thing is to get a consultation with a reversal specialist and have an examination to best assess your situation. Of course I would be happy to help you and your partner.
