How strange. I have a pair from I think 2016 and they have a full hard plastic toe instead of leather and the entire upper appears to be leather outer while mine are mixed with a kind of synthetic lair around the ankle and like a leather strap that cuts across it. Idk if it waa for more flexibility but the cross cut in the leather before the first hook right where your foot bends helps a TON for mobility and comfort. I have probably close to 1000 miles in them in the PNW and Rocky Mountains. Probably needs resoled but holding up for 8 years not bad at all. I wonder why they cnanged so much though? Maybe i should research it more but my only problem is i should have gotten wide toe version.

Haha...despite all the changes the one thing so many people find with these is that their too narrow. I can't say why they changed them this year and I never had an older version so I can't say what I liked better. Thanks for your comment!

My experience with hiking shoe tongues is they tend to go off the side. Any slippage with these? Last question, what's the scuffing like? These booths have a smooth leather look where scuff marks have nowhere to hide, but I didn't see any on your video.

Thanks for the comment. My experience has been that the tongues fall down the center line naturally - the way the boot is structured, there isn't really anywhere for them to go. Once they're laced up, they press against the foot and are held in place pretty good by the ankle supports. As for scuffing, I'm pretty sure that's a reality we all face with leather - the boots took on a few minor scratches but they buffed out pretty easy. Lighter colors will definitely show more. As I haven't had these that long, I can't speak more on this - I personally take pride in 'earning' those scars haha

I forgot to mention that I went a half size up - I recommend doing this. Also, does anyone have experience with the older St. Elias versions or other Vasque products? Leave a comment!

Sad commercial disquised as a review - explain what flipped you. They gave you money right. Surely it wasn't the clover pattern. Over priced mass produced low quality boots, they wont last a year. Vasque has gone from my favorite boots to the last boots I would consider.

Hello and thanks for the comment. No they did not give me money, I make nothing from these videos and I'm not even monetized - they just gave me things to test. It's win win...they get publicity, good or bad, and I get material to review (my way). I have no interest other than giving my honest two cents. I made it very clear to the PR team that I wouldn't be kind if I didn't like something. My integrity is more important to me than $$$. I genuinely enjoyed the boots given my short experience with them...and I'll continue to wear them to see how they perform and last. Perhaps I'll update this eventually as their durability is tested.
