I’m a humble carpenter/contractor. I don’t own clothes nice enough for most peoples’ funerals, weddings, or even church. But watching you at your craft makes me wish I needed a fancy pair of refurbished shoes from Bedo’s.... Your craftsmanship is exemplary.

I started my collection (ridiculously large now) by buying a pair of Allen Edmonds 0n Ebay for $40 and had a half sole and heel plate put on by the local Cobbler for $45. Bought a set of shoe trees for $5 at a thrift store and refurbished them myself. So for about $100 I had a pair of beautiful Oxfords. And I've been hooked on doing it over and over. Sometimes I get lucky and can get them for $5 to 15 at thrift stores also.

Greetings from Budapest, Vass is just a few corner from here. Vass is one of the well known Hungarian shoe brand, so I always wanted to see one of these from the inside. (The Hungarian s sound is not the same as the English, it pronounced like the sh in the word "sheet" or "FlorSHeim". So phonetically like Budapesht and Vash. (Vass is an older written version of the family name Vas (means iron))

Surprising indeed Vass does not use stacked leather heels. As you say, functionally not an issue but having gone through all the trouble to craft a beautiful shoe like these then not go the whole hog... And yes, *ouch* to see that lovely new JR sole be removed. On another note, it’s always fun to see how sedate Steve starts off his videos explaining what’s to come... makes the candid/humour that follows as the video progresses all the more enjoyable!

I just bought a pair less than a month ago and they are probably the most handsome pair in my collection. Now I am waiting on a pair of Yeossal (with spade soles) and I can't wait! Quite disappointed with the fiber board stuff. Love how craftsmen like Steve, Trenton and Heath, and Weston from Rose Anvil give us an inside out look at products deemed as "the highest quality" but they end up not being all that. This really shows how much we should question some of these RU-vidrs who swear by some products but are proven wrong by these experts. Thank you Steve! Now let's continue!

Wow! $800 for purchase and $650 for change out / repair...$1,450 for a pair of shoes. I think I'll stick with Allan Edmonds for $395. Steve, great video. You are an artesian cobbler .

You and sharp edges, Steve. I've watched from the beginning and you've always had an attraction to them (sharp edges). Personally, most of us can't get far enough away from cutting tools and our hands don't shake! Love watching and learning about shoes, manufacturers and what they do and don't do. I knew a shoe repairman when I was a boy and used to watch him doing his work finding it interesting. I was also friends with his son. The father has long since passed away but the son and I are still friends at a distance on facebook. Their name is Liberti. I watch as many of your older videos as I can and wait for the new ones. Love to watch them as they bring back memories and I've sent them to my friend John Liberti. He said it reminded him of his dad. They relax me and make me smile. So many shoe repairmen seem to be from the 'old country'. There's another man in the town where I grew up who runs a shop named Marinakas. Not sure if I spelled that right.

It is different to have a new shoe come in for surgery. I think some companies will take shortcuts, but one cannot tell until ..........scalpel! I love all the machines you have, and how they all come into play. I didn’t know I’d you a particular leather it tightens. That’s a story itself. She needs oil. She screaming for oil! Wow.
