Beste Gert Jan, ik denk dat jij dichter bij de bedoelingen van Georg Böhm zit dan veel moderne snelheidsmaniakken van tegenwoordig. Die zitten tijdens hun spel tot barstens toe vol met adrenaline. Maar dit vind ik echt mooi! Wat een rust en bezinning, en welk een diep gevoel leg jij in je spel!
I heard this piece played by Wim van Beek one evening in 1985. It sent chills up my spine then, and this posting, with the same haunting registration still does. What a heavenly organ, church, and score! Thanks so much!
Absolutely peculiar... And very beautiful! Exquisite I should say. The registration fits the tempo (or the other way round...) with such a good taste... Your rendition makes me think this chorale through, And over and over... The organ is a Schnitger masterpiece (redundance...) Thank you for sharing.
Een prachtige uitvoering mede door de afwezigheid van tongwerken waardoor het werk ronder wordt. De bassen zijn wel erg dominant maar dat kan ook door de techniek komen. Religieus gezien een waardig en intense uitvoering, is een favoriet op m'n pc
I think that nasard+vox humana is a terrible combination...i can't hear it!! It's a pity because it's very well played (even if very slowly)... PS: Germani said "the best way to use tremulant is not to use it!!"

"Vater unser..." is The Lord's Prayer, and should never be in a hurry, which hurry defeats the whole purpose, for His regularly clueless disciples to know how to communicate with the heavenly Father! and Jesus is still using this musical means to teach the same thing today, Soli Deo Gloria!
Beautiful choice of registration...the Organ sound is stunning .... Your performance is very intimate.... you play more slow than other performances but with a great sensitivity
Le son de cet orgue est magnifique, mais quel dommage que l'organiste joue aussi lentement ! Pour s'endormir, à la rigueur ! Mais non, en vérité, le tempo de ce choral est beaucoup plus rapide, comme du reste, quasiment tous les organistes, d'instinct, l'interprètent.
On ne sait pas si ce tempo doit être plus rapide. C'et écrit nul part. C'est question uniquement de sensibilité.Cela étant pour ma part, je verrai le tempo un peu plus allant moi aussi.
This registration makes this heavenly organ chorale sound like a transcription for orchestra by Stokowsky, not an organ prelude. The solo part in the right hand is completely drowned in a porridge of God knows what ingredients. The terribly exaggerated tremulant and the general romantic setting spoils this beautiful chorale by G.Böhm. After all, Böhm was not a Hollywood film composer or an American crooner. The lazy tempo, -draggng its feet wearily along does not make the music beautiful, but only unbearably sentimental and misunderstood.
Your criticism really is a bit over the top. I suspect the apparent (slight) lack of definition may have something to do with microphone placement - the organ does sound as if it's round a corner, which probably means the microphones were on floor stands or in the loft below impost level. (Not many of us have the necessary equipment for suspending microphones in front of the organ at or above loft height, even if we could get permission for such a project.)
