Perfection has another meaning - the music wizard Padmashree Dr Yesudas. If followed closely the entire song, one can see how he guides the violinist and mridangam players. People who are his accompanying players are gifted to be improvised through his performances on stage. Among so many Vathapi Ganapathim song sung by this great gift of GOD to all of us, to me this one is the best among the best I have heard so far. He has given equal opportunity to the accompanying artists to excel in their performance and you can notice his satisfaction throughout the song. What a perfect team management. Great. Thank people who have posted this. Namaskarams to Dr KJ Jesudas.
Many say the voice never remains in the same quality as one becomes old... But here is an exception..This man is 76 and throw of his voice is as good as ever... A classic example of voice immortality... Hats off.. Feel really blessed...
Dayanand kumar L : Esteemed and Beloved Yesudasu ji, Your voice what i call PRANAVANADHA catch the attention of Lakhs of peple,Indeed i am absorbed in your song ,a magnetic power in you.May God bless you and your cozy family.
Excellent accompaniments. Must have been a challenge or should I say, their years of practice reveals their mastery over their instruments too. Mersmerizing swarakalpanas
Technology other than a microphone should have no place on stage. The very essence of carnatic music is to practice every keerthana hundreds of times, internalize it completely and then get on the stage. This is something his guru Chembai constantly reminded his shisya's.
What a joke. Grow up. Why a rule exception for microphone then? Music is to be preformed and enjoyed in the best way possible, and any aid if technology to enhance the experience must be positively taken. This is not a competition for memory. If a laptop aids in showing the lyrics then so be it. By your logic, even the camera that captured shouldn't have a place there. And then you wouldn't be able to hear this and comment too. So, chill :)
what do u know about yesudas he has sang over 50,000 songs how can he remember all of them if you have 10 kids you will forget there names you will need name tags know there names and do you think he doesnt practice he must have practiced this song more than hundred times
Not up to the mark as everyone says. I accept that his sound is awesome and film songs are also the best. But when it comes Carnatic music, there are "n" number of artists who sings well than him. Mridangist - Nadam is very good. However he is not playing which should be on the same track and lane, then only the concert would be a perfect one. Violanist - He is performing very well.
I agree that he is 77 and still singing. It is because that he is the one of the best singers in all languages he has sung, crowd is huge. Taking films songs, he is one of the best! As you said "there are no singer to challenge him" - its not the fact. If you are a carnatic music fans and you can understand ragas and those stuff, then you will come to know that there are "n" number. Hear the masters - Semmagudi, KVN, TNS, Sanjay, TM.Krishna, MDR, Alathur Brothers etc, you can feel the difference.
Sarath KS Obviously. The people who would go to a Sanjay concert would never go to a yesudas concert. But I believe that it is because Yesudas has diluted his music to impress and attract the lay folk. There was a time when he used to be accompanied by MSG and TNK. In those rare recordings sans any gimmicks, you could hear those giants appreciating his alapana and swarams. If he stuck to his guns and stopped caring about the audience, he would indeed be the best person to carry on the chembai line. Also, fun fact, he is one of the few people left who can do chembai's famous kathri swarams. His forte has always been his voice. Not even balamurali in his prime had this much flexibility. Recordings exist where he has gone to the ATI thara and anu mandram. Perhaps, one wonders, if he had a more ordinary voice, he would have become a greater Carnatic singer.
