We’ll that’s nice but the Vatican is about 2 centuries too late and their henchmen the US and Europe haven’t said anything to that effect so it’s a hollow apology as far as I’m concerned. And what about repatriation?!?!

Acknowledgement of a past brutality committed in the name of God is too little, too late! But it is very much necessary to start the process of healing for all the indigenous communities and their descendants who carry that trauma of colonization to this day. I have been saying this 10 years ago that Africa was colonised by Roman Catholic Church Using European.

I am concerned that the report failed to address the activities of the Church in India, and I am disappointed that a seemingly Indian origin channel did not call out Christian atrocities against Hinduism. The role of Xavier and Albuquerque in the Goan inquisition highlights the atrocities of Catholics. The protestants that came afterwords weren't any better and held the same views towards the Hindu faith. The impact of the Protestant Reformation on the British persecution of the native Hindu faith and other European Christian powers that colonised India cannot be overlooked.

If I was a Catholic in India: 1. I would stop converting non- Christians of India to Catholicism. 2. I would dedicate every moment carrying out activities which bring peace, love, harmony and upliftment of people, no matter their background. The west is desperate for free trade with countries such as - Vietnam, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and all of Asia to support its rapidly declining economy. If the Vatican truly means this Apology, it has to give a new and emancipated shape to Roman Catholicism in the previously colonized countries in which the Vatican had supported Imperialism, to allow a chance for the local religion and beliefs to prosper again. This it can do simply by putting an immediate end to religious conversion of any kind in these erstwhile colonies, for this is the unsavoury colonizing element or religious Imperialism of Roman Catholicism. Unless it abolishes proselytism going forward in these erstwhile colonies, the Vatican's "Apology" is just a make-believe and implies no real regret for its infamous Rifle - Bible colonial and imperialistic hunting partnership of yesteryears. Will the Vatican measure up to this fair expectation?

The Catholic Church didn't just "allow" colonialism, they participated and profited from it. What is the point of the apology? France still controls the monetary system of 14 African countries. US and UK make repeated trips to Africa to push them to adopt LGBTQ+ policies and threaten to not give aid (which Africa would be better off without it). The exploitation continues. Judging one era with another era is not fair. Vatican has apologised umpteen times. Has anyone else? Has the high caste of India apologised for subjugating the low caste, especially the out-castes causing untold suffering for four millennia?
