I really can't understand why EREV like this Ampera never catches on. I'd be more than happy to take this over any BEV.

Great car for quiet stress free commuting. Much quicker than your average Automatic away from the lights when you need it too.. Bought the Holden Version in June and used about 6 litres of petrol so far. I drive 48km a day and plug in every weeknight. It's not an M3 but if you want something that can take four adults in comfort and near silence it's a superb car. It's well worth a test drive. The touch sensitive dash is a pain but you get used to it pretty quick. You won't see propulsion reduced unless your driving like a total knob at an airfield!!. Batteries where guaranteed for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Very few reports of failures on Volts/Amperas because it's a liquid cooled battery pack that only charges to 80% and doesn't discharge to below 20%. It doesn't support fast charging (You've got the petrol motor once the charge drops to 20%) so there's less stress on the battery. Great car for Adults but not boy racers.

A wonderful car that probably had the most difficult situation to work with. Built in the US. Expensively imported and then expensively taxed. All topped off with a dissuasive dealer network which no renders these Amperes (and some Volts) forgotten and unsupportable for parts and servicing.
@SuperMadpom
@SuperMadpom 6 лет назад
135,000 sales worldwide isn't huge but hardly unsupportable for spares and servicing.

The only simple little thing auto manufacturers could do to make these sort of cars attractive to enthusiast types is to make them RWD. That's it. Simply little thing, you can do it!!! But still, I understand that enthusiasts are rarely the ones buying new cars to begin with and most within that same sort of community and not very bright people. The more hands-on and older enthusiasts are just simply superior when it comes to cars and life compared to little boy racers/ Cars & Coffee fanatics taking selfies with supercars.

such an obvious MASKED advertising. I guess the show needed the money, nohardfeelings about that.

Vauxhall didn't need TV shows to sell their cars, so they weren't allowed to like it because you don't, correct?
@danielladd10

As with all electric vehicles, what happens when all the batteries need replacing? Will it be as cheap to scrap the car and buy a new one or will it be more economical to buy a new set? In the future, no one will be buying second hand electric vehicles because you wont know what condition the batteries are in.
@karlosbricks2413
@karlosbricks2413 6 лет назад
well, its a bit like buying cars known for the cam-belt to wear out, if its been done, adverts and prices will take note, and if it gets to banger age, it'll slowly end up being scrapped as its not economically feasible to replace them any more, and peopel will just take the risk. Although this car, as long the electric nanny allows, should be able to drive even with a faulty battery and be able to cope on the remaining 84 horses.

How about you acquaintance yourself with actual owners, and the articles some have contributed. Chevy, for all it's worth, somehow built a well engineered car. The most high mileage Volts in America with +300,000 miles have no less than 92% capacity in them. Batteries aren't the time bombs you were persuaded to believe. If everyone's chill about VW group and Hyundai dual clutch transmissions grenading themselves the day after their warranty expires - then what's all the blind crying over batteries? Hell, everyone said the same about hybrids 20 years ago... and they're still on the road. Mine's 11 years old, 160,000 miles and the delta voltage is never more than 0.15V. If you knew what delta voltage implied then you'll know that 0.15V is almost like new. The problem here that we should address is the lack of knowledge on how they operate. Nothing else.

Come on FFS it beeps every 2 min ! What are 5 gear thinking ...

Electric Cars are supposed top Save the world? A Petroleum Engine powering a Generator instead of the wheels? Certainly the second law of thermodynamics certainly wasn‘t taken into Account. Not very smart.

@RalphSchreuderxX
@RalphSchreuderxX 6 лет назад
whell if you use a engine to generate electricity you can run the engine at a steady rpm where the engine is most efficient at delivering power instead of scaling up and down when you go up the gears which creates a cleaner powertrain
