2009 Vauxhall Insignia came in with the 'Service Vehicle Soon' warning displayed in the cluster.
Strange how it sounds but it doesn't mean it's due for a service.
Join me as I diagnose & repair the problem. #testnotguess

What a good video, with an excellent explanation and lots of detail. I am 20 years a mechanic and I am still learning every day. Having a good teacher like you is such a benefit to younger lads. You keep up what you do and I am sure this channel will grow and grow. I see you too have also evolved into a human torque wrench :)

Thanks for sharing. Like you say you need to be 100% when diagnosing expensive replacement parts. Most would just buy it and replace the faulty part and most the time it will fix the problem. That is what separates a professional like you to the rest because you can follow it through to the end, the nice kit does help though!

Just diagnosed the ex's Zafira C with P0672, had the spanner light a day after the service, the dealer replaced the glow plug under warranty. A week later, spanner light again, P0674! It's going back in, just outside warranty by a day but seeing if they will replace No.4 and also No.1 and 3 as there's only 24,000 miles on it. While they don't need the glow plugs to start, they do need them for DPF regen so they can ignite fuel injected on the exhaust stroke to create the flame thrower!

Good job Rob Picoscope is a good tool for diagnostic, i think it's pico 4425 i think it's necessary to change all the glow plug because the 3 other glow plug will be dead soon and to put same grease in glow plug it's a good idea witch make the job easy next time when you remove the glow plug.

Can I just fit 4 standard glow plugs to my 2.0 citizen Sri insignia 2010? not the pressure sensor ones
@OneAuto
@OneAuto 6 лет назад
No if pressure sensing ones are fitted then they have to be replaced with the same. The wiring connections are different to standard ones. The computer software will freak if pressure is not sensed.
@danttaylor
@danttaylor 6 лет назад
One Auto, sorry I had an auto correct on that last comment. And do you know at all which cylinder has the pressure sensor one? Apparently there are 3 normal ones on mine and 1 pressure sensor fitted glow plug
@OneAuto

Pressure sensing ones look like the ones in this video. Standard ones are thin without the bulbous part. Make sure you have the car scanned to make sure the glow plugs are setting the code first.

This glow plug heater circuit was obviously faulty and needed replacing, but there was a TSB relating to issue's with the PSG's on these engines sometime in 2012 , basicly Vauxhalls answer to these PSG's not being fit for purpose was to carry out a software update where the codes for pressure sensor circuit faults will be logged but no longer activate the MIL. So the very expensive pressure sensing part of these glow plugs is actually useless.
@cardude5323
@cardude5323 7 лет назад
MARK FINN a lot of the new common rails don't even need the bloody things anyway. I had a 12 year old C220 with 3 dead plugs and it started first time every time no problem. Even down into the minus degrees. Apparently they are now only used for emmisions regs and to help start the car in -15c or lower which we rarely if ever see in UK. So needless to say I left them alone.

The 2009 did not have the pressure sensing glow plugs. It was introduced with ecoflex models, later in the series the 2.0 CDTI might have 0, 2 or 4 pressure sensing glow plugs. They can be identified by amount of contacts at the connector. So check which ones are needed before ordering new ones.

Do you think this is a problem with all 4 glow plugs or maybe some module? Find it strange I’ve got no lights on the dash ect.., thank you

He did not test the resistance of the meter leads first. That would need to be subtracted from the total resistance reading. The true resistance is going to be lower hence the higher current reading.
