I got a NP-01S after watching this video. This mouse is like sorcery. It doesn't feel that heavy at all. It even feels like it's lighter than my DaV3Pro, GPX, and X2 size 2. Shape really is King!!
tbh as much as i love like sub 50g mice, I can pick up and aim with a 69g mouse just fine and not feel like its a brick or anything. Shape is King - RJN
It doesn't matter what shape a brick is, we are comparing mice And there is no sane reason to ever pick up a heavier mouse. Lighter mice are objectively better in everyway (all other variables like shape assumed equal)
One of your best reviews for sure. Thing is, any one who has been doing this for a long time, and has plus 8 to 20 years of gaming experience, we've seen all sorts of breeds of tech for mice over the years. but one thing is for certain (especially for those who've been in a competitive scene a long time), at a certain point, weight is either too heavy or too light. When you go too light, you do lose some natural aiming stability. Especially if it's a pin point focused game like CS where hitscan really matters. Where start and stop friction is critical. 80 grams to 85 is Leaving the heavier side of things where I don't think you should go above 90~95ish, if you can help it. But at the same time, going below 70 grams I truly feel you also run into diminishing returns just the same. You don't want to lose stability. Having a weight in between 70 ~ to 90 grams... Opens up a load of versatility with different types of mousepads. But if you've ever noticed, using extreme light weight mice... it doesn't seem to matter what feet you put on that mouse / mouse pad combination - if you ever want more control to slow down the feel a bit more for a "pin point locked in feel". It's almost impossible. It's cause mice are getting too light (you're practically just pushing helium around at this point), and there is a point in time where you'll sacrifice mouse stability / consistency for something that feels like ice. Some people like that feeling, and that's fine too, but weight is a lot more deep than just, 'lighter is better' finding your ideal weight balance with your preferred shape is key. I think the NP-01 is secretly goated because it gets BOTH of these things extremely right. The shape, plus it's weight, and it's sensor implementation... is like.. a 'tri-force of nailed it.' Easily one of the best mice ever made, and definitely a main of mine. I think it's something you should explore more @boardzy - focusing on the mixture of shape, the weight balance, and the sensor (cause not all sensors feel the same, and have mass DPI deviation) and analyzing how and why they make you feel more comfortable while using to acquire targets. Which one feels like 'ol faithful' that you can just pick up and destroy with? Why do you feel this way why using it? Definitely has to deal with these three things. Something as simple as, this is 50 grams so it must be better, is definitely not the answer alone. A lot of people get the wrong idea and just think LIGHT is best. Which simply just isn't true, there's more to it, when the best aimers in the world don't always use the lightest.
@@goochipoochie tac shooter mains usually love their heavy mice. Theres a market for it still. Anyways anywhere between 50g and 70g is fine and sweet spot for most.
Bro either is good, both are end game, besides weight but I'm assuming it doesn't matter to you. If you have wider hands go with the XE. It is wide which is why i love it.
I had to get the NP-01 instead of NP-01s because I have freakishly wide & long thumb pads. I've had many accidental clicks with the side buttons on other cheapy mice which is deal breaker for me. I have a relaxed claw grip while playing intense FPS games like Apex. I saw the NP-01 placement of the side buttons and I really like their high placement. Anyways, I have used $10-20 chinese mice for the last 24 years so I can't wait to finally get a high quality mouse.
It doesn't matter much if it has 4k or 8k or under 50g or whatever. your hand has to like it. Shape is king. The best results will always come when there is the best connection between your hand and your instrument. 🤪. I've bought like 15 to 20 mice to try out at this point...but I think I've found my mouse...Its the Outset AX 😬😬 and the kone pro air as a backup. Its time for me to stop spending. I don't feel the need to try other shapes anymore..I KNOW I can't feel better!
This vid got me thinking… why don’t manufacturers add weight options for the bottoms? Obviously it’s money because they could just sell more different mouse versions, but yeah…….
just picked this up and personally love it. cant believe how premium it feels. i'm new to mice and havent much else to compare it to, but i cannot imagine its gets any better than this
I've got 20x10cm hands and mostly use claw, have been using the beast x for a while and really enjoy it but its a touch too small. Should I go for the NP-01 OR the S?
Trying to decide if I take the chance on the NP-01 (been using sensei clones up until a gpx sl which i find uncomfortable due to the long high hump) or if I just get a viper v2 pro since I can return it and then decide between the XE & NP-01 later. Ive been using Nixeus Revels and DM1 S2s until i couldnt buy them so weight doesnt bother me as much as shape.
Im maining the glorious chinese attack shark x3 because i have tiny hands and it fits well, glorious to tbe ccp, but i do go back to the superbrick weighing at a whopping 63g, idk why man
Tbh, I am bothered by something heavier :/ Inertia is still a thing for me, specially playing with higher sens. Nonetheless, Vaxee has been KILLING with their shapes! Edit: By the way, have you tried VXE's R1? I have the R1 Pro, and it is bizarrely my current main over the GPX for claw grip! Bizarre to think how far they've come
I bought the wired yellow np-01 b/c I am an emf phobe. I can stand short bursts of emfs but I try my best to avoid sustained wifi that's within milimeters of my body parts. I use my computer for at least 8 hours every day and I just don't want all of that emf exposure. I even still use an ethernet cable for my computer. Don't get me wrong, I would definitely buy a wifi mouse as they are superior in almost every way to corded, but I am looking out for my health.
Every single gram matters Simply taking out the puck from gpx2 that is just ~3gm makes the mouse so much faster and light (as it also adds considerable friction surface along with the weight) To put things into perspective the general "superlight" mice of this era are at most 10-20gm lighter from the average (or ~40-50gm compared to bricks like g502) and just this "small" amount of weight difference makes a objectively demonstrably HUGE difference in everyway Tl;dr : 70gm in 2024 is unusable. Specially when new releases like Sora v2 are pushing close to 40gm territory
Is the outset comparable to the DAV3 pro ? I really like the DAV3 pro shape but its been giving me issues it keeps disconnecting and need a replacement. Thanks in advance.
The only time you really notice the weight difference is when you use the Vaxee immediately after or right before using the something lighter . It's not too heavy, it feels amazing and the build quality is superb. Just got my NP01 and the Outset 4K. And bought the dongle for my NP01S
I love the np-o1! I don't care what people say but a 70 gram mouse isn't heavy. I've had 40 gram mice to 100 gram and 70 is a good weight imo. You have more control with a bit more weight. It could be a little lighter in the low 60's but 70 is perfectly fine. This mouse is my main now
@@AlvaTheSpurned i prefer the np-01 over the xlite the lower button height and i disliked how low the back right side of the v3 is like a higher back on that part which the np-01 is combatable with
Would be perfect if only 10g lighter and could charge on any usb-c. The way it feels in-game is just different, it's perfectly suited for my control style. The stock skates are the best control skates I have ever used (GSR2). For me shape isn't king, it's performance and this thing performs like no other. With that said, thing fits like a glove.
I recently dropped my Viper V2 pro for the Np-01s wireless. I just feel like I'm cheating sometimes with it. The shape is so comfortable for a small mouse. 18x10cm hands btw
I have a wired NP01 and it's fantastic. I have a bit of an angled mouse grip and it works great for me. I dropped my first 3k in apex using this mouse.
I had an np01-s wired, it was my favourite shape but I ended up using lighter mice just because of weight preference. at the end of the day, people are going to use what they play best with, and if this is that mouse, then they should use it.
I 3d printed a model of the NP-01s and I get why you have a love/hate relationship with ergo mice. It's just more comfortable to hold than my Lamzu Maya as it sits perfectly between an ergo and a symmetrical mouse.
If you justify quality control issues by saying "you won't notice" all you're doing is shilling for a company with quality control issues instead of asking the question "why is it happening at all when other brands don't seem to have this problem?" Why do reviewers do this? Cause they want free stuff.
Relaxed palm grip is the most natural way to hold a mouse whether its an ergo mouse or symmetrical. Fingertip grip is stupid. Claw grip is stupid. I've been a PC user for 30 years. FIGHT me if you want, but you're wrong.
Im still rocking Logitech G403 Hero at 88 grams on a speed mouse pad at 1600 DPI and think the mouse feels great giving me both speed and control. I have no complaints.
Nah I couldnt consistently have 2 paired at once, but at one point did so I'm not sure if that was a bug. If you have the firmware of the older mouse updated repairing takes under 10 seconds
I have an XE and Outset and can swap between them with the 4k dongle. You have to put the mouse into pairing mode and then unplug the dongle and plug it back in while the top LEDs are flashing on the mouse. Make sure you update your firmware.
I think what made people love the g502 was how it was also shaped. When I look at the np-01, I see some similarities to how they're both shaped and can see why it would be a godlike mouse shape. Though, I'd still give the edge to the g502 for its superior thumb rest and extra buttons.
I personally give the edge to the np-01 when it comes to shape because its not as jagged and sharp on the corners, so you can more comfortably use a wider variety of grip styles.
