Worked great for me too. Thanks buddy! I mis-understoond at first. You have to remove the nuts entirely and push the entire assembly inside the door to turn it round. Beautifully smooth now though. Huge thanks for the tip!!! 😁😁
Darren Carter You did just fine it was me not understanding properly lol. My door would still be waking the neighbours in the morning if it weren't for you! Thanks again buddy. Really appreciate it. 😁
Excellent trick mate! just done it on my Vectra C and it works brilliantly! just had to turn the whole bracket once i undone the nuts by pushing it into the door then rotating it back to where it was :D excellent mate!
So are you turning it back the same way to did to start with when you push it inside the door or are you continuing in the same direction to complete the 360 degree turn, or does it not matter?
Great fix, but you should also put some moly grease on the arm - close and open a few times - wipe off excess. Also do up fixings so tiny bit loose, open and close a few times so the checker settles into it's natural alignment then tighten. This will extend the life of the checker considerably
When my door did this I undid the door card. Took the speaker out. Undid the 2 retaining bolts holding this check strap onto the door then undid the two bold holding the door check strap to the body of the car. And then fitted a new one and then put the speaker back etc. I used E (Torx) sockets to undo the check strap bolts. Its stopped the door check strap from click and creaking etc.
I was going to do this as my Vectra C drivers door was clunking loudly. Before getting tools out I thought I'd smear on some grease on the tie bar (Castrol LM) and it sorted it out instantly. Not saying this will work for everyone, but worked for me, so worth a try first. Good luck.
Yeah should work mate... I think the part codes are the same... but check 1st... mine is still good after all this time ... so well over a year or so mate...
Sheraz Malik yeah I did turn it back for the video. As I forgot to record the 1st part.. 1. Undo the hex screw. 2. Turn the check strap arm 180°. 3. Undo the the 2 nuts on the door side. 4. Hold the strap and put it into the door and turn it 180°back around. 5. Line the 2 bolts back up and put the nuts back on.6. Do the hex screw back up.. Should be nice and quiet like new... hope this helps mate..
Finally sorted, in the video it said about loosening the door nuts and spinning the door latch around. But found another video which was more detailed showing the door nuts being removed. All works well nice and quiet again.
