Our second video on the Vectrex covers the amazing array of homebrew games available on the system, pushing the ancient hardware beyond what its creators could ever have imagined.
Retrogames started as the worlds first Retrogaming magazine way back in 1995, filled with reviews and analysis of rare games consoles and hard to find videogames. In 1998 our website became the first place you could buy console and computer games on the internet and in 2002 we launched our own London retro shop. Staggeringly it took another twenty years for us to finally launch our own RU-vid channel.
It's always fun to browse on our website, with over 25,000 vintage games for sale.

Thanks for sharing! I’m itching to join the vectrex world but fear it may be like a second mortgage 😆. The innovation behind some of these titles is phenomenal; clearly so much love for the system. Really liked the accessories at the start too 😍.

Well that was fantastic. I love the Vectrex, such an amazing and unique console, such a shame how expensive they are now I've never tried any homebrew games but must admit some of these look fantastic. They have to have an overlay for me, would love Tour De France and Vectrexians and Vector Patrol look brilliant, seems mad the boxes weren't made slightly bigger to fit the overlay inside, what were they thinking, that aside, the boxes look amazing. Wonderful collection you have there Think I might watch this again 😍👍✌️

Huge thanks for your lovely comment. If you do manage to pick up any of these one day, I'd say the Tuts games are just amazing. I think they go for about £70 each, so not totally crazy - yet!

Just to let you know the screen overlays for Vectrexians, Vectorpatrol and Vectorpilot slide into the back of the clamshell case. As you showed they dont fit inside the case. You open it up a bit to loosen the back and in slided in on the back under the plastic cover and back artwork.

The Vectrex has more homebrew games then the n64 (from what I've seen) which is hilarious

You are right, I think it's just the shape of it and its quirky design, people just fell in love with it. Also, so much more development needed for an N64 game compared to a small Vectrex game - they all tend to be solo projects.

And that's just some of the ones that were released in a cartridge with a box! There are 139 ROMs listed on the Wiki now and most of those (including three of my old games) are on the various multicarts that are available for a decent price. The scene is still going strong and now that I'm finally getting my Vectrex fixed I'm seriously thinking of making a new game for it. It really is something very different to program for, in 68A09 machine code no less 😉

A great collection of home-brew there. It’s a shame that some of these are so expensive now, along with the console. Luckily we picked up our Vectrex years ago when they were still fairly cheap.

At 13:00 Yes, the Madtronix viewer is scarce, but it is Affordable, for those who want to enjoy 3-D on the Vectrex. He has a light pen, too.

yes, they are hard to find sadly. I use eBay search, if you put Vectrex homebrew as a saved search, you get notified when rare games like these are listed.
