Do you still have this clock? My friend Justin has been recently introducing me to Vedettes... Just when I thought I might not have many more interesting chiming clocks to look for. The ones chiming on bronze rods are particularly astounding to hear.., though the steel rod variety also sound quite lovely.
Yes we do, this clock belongs to my dad (it’s kind of hard to explain but i’m 18 and just graduated from high school and we have “separate” collections). The story behind it is awesome and I know you’ll love it, This clock was coming from the Netherlands and since we live in the states, the eBay auction was ending around 1:00 am our time, and my dad was so tired he entered “o” instead of “0” and didn’t win the clock. Luckily since the guy had advertised it as “brother jacob chime clock” there were no other bidders so no one else won it. He had to stay up all night and email back in forth explaining what happened and finally around 6:00 AM he secured the clock. I have heard better sounding ones than this one but we are lucky that this one still sounds amazing!!
@@Brooks_Adams Sweet, congrats on graduating! Any idea what you want to do after high-school? Start a clock repair shop perhaps? ;) Also, that really is a neat story! Your dad really did get lucky no one else bid on it. Not quite the same situation, but it reminds me of my rather unusual Junghans B20 Westminster chiming tambour I won for almost nothing, just because the seller said it didn't work and no one bid on it but me. Turns out it does work, but sadly the chime mainspring is shot and only winds about a turn and a half. The case is gorgeous though, and it's a rods/gong arrangement like yours, so I'm still happy I snagged it. It's the last clock on my 2021 clock collection part 1 video if you want to see it.
