Chinese Clay Pot
Ingredients
For Rice
1 cup brown jasmine rice, jasmine rice or long grain rice
2 cups vegetable stock for brown jasmine rice, 1 1/2 cup for white jasmine or long grain rice
For Sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup vegetarian oyster sauce
1/4 cup agave nectar
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce, optional
3 cloves garlic, crushed
3 green onions
3 thin or 2 thick slices of ginger
For Toppings
1 tbsp coconut oil or cooking oil
1 king oyster mushroom, sliced or any mushrooms of your choice
1 tsp soy sauce or pinch of salt
4 to 5 oz tofu steak, extra firm tofu or any plant-based protein of your choice, sliced
2 oz blanched yu choy, bok choy, cabbage, spinach or any vegetable of your choice
2 tbsp sesame oil
Chopped green onion for garnish
Sesame seeds for garnish

I'm 72 and enjoy watching you make your meals. I may not follow the recipe exactly because I don't have all the ingredients but it gives me a good idea of what to put together. The burnt rice is the BEST. My mom and I (we are Korean) and my sister love making Dolsot bibimbap. The 누룽지 (burnt rice) is SO good when you add hot 보리가 (barley tea) to the bowl. Best way to finish it off!!

Hi seongkyong! Made this dish today with white rice, and it was a crowd pleaser! The sauce was absolutely delicious like you said - I added spinach, bean sprouts, baby corn, long beans and broccoli to the rice as well! This will definitely be a staple at our house! 😊

Looks great! I grew up eating chicken claypot rice at the hawkers around in Penang. I’d love to make this vegan version at home! Seonkyeoung, the sauce is the bomb!! I made the sauce and triple the recipe but havent use it on anything but its already bomb on its own!! I really think u should bottle it and patent it

search for sweet soy sauce in chinese markets. She can't patent this because it's a very common sauce in China for clay pot rice. Kudos for demystifying the ingredients tho

@@zhaoyizhong8215 I’m living in Malaysia and our markets are basically Asian Markets 😂 but our sweet soy sauce is a bit diffierent than this recipe. It doesnt have that aromatic flavours from the ginger and green onion. By patenting it, I mean bottle it and name it maybe Seonkyeoung’s Bombdiggity Sauce and sell it for those who doesnt want to make the sauce from scratch 😄

One does not need to be vegan to apreciate and cook vegan meals ^^ I was always interested in them for I love diversity and working around a restriction does wonders for comeing up with creativ new ways to prepare things and use ingredients you otherwise would not try. Most people restrict themself out of lazyness to the same few dishes . . . so boring . . . Also just reducing your consume of animal products already helps the enviroment and saves money so when you buy them, you can effort a higher quality ^^

What I haven’t seen anyone share its the Chinese fish that came in a can recipe! Like I think it’s called Fried Dace with fermented salty black beans. Here is hard to find Dace (USA) but I would love to know if you know this recipe or what would be your take on it, or have you tasted it? I’m half Filipina and I grew up eating it, just steam rice and a can of that fish straight out of the can sooo delicious. I think they discontinue it for “health” issues something to do with the Can or fish they use and now if you want to buy it is like 20 bucks for a can or two when it was like 2 bucks before lol
