This is a HUGE relief to me! I've been vegetarian all my life and I was very worried about having enough to eat during my trip to BKK. This looks awesome.

You have nothing to worry about! Bangkok has so many delicious vegan foods & vegetarian foods are even easier to find in Thailand! Look up ‘Thai jay symbol’ on Google images & look out for it as you roam the streets of BKK. It looks like a red 17 on a yellow flag. Restaurants & food carts all over Thailand use it to show they serve vegetarian (and often vegan) food. The mobile app Happy Cow also lists a lot of places there. Hope you have a great time! ✌️

Yeah there's so much tasty food in Thailand! I'll definitely include locations in future for restaurants, but street food cart locations are so inconsistent in Thailand. There were a few days where we couldn't get any street food for breakfast because even though we arrived at the same time there were days when the cart was nowhere to be found, so I don't want to get peoples hopes up. The markets are probably the most consistent places to find them, there are so many markets in Bangkok. There are however thousands of these types of street food carts moving throughout the city though at all times of the day, you just have to go for a walk and you're bound to find one. We were just lucky to have found one (occasionally) nearby. 😅

This is awesome!! Do you have any tips on not getting sick from food in thailand? Im going there with 2 kids and really dont want them to catch anything! I hear veggies and fruit can also make you sick so thinking even as vegans we are not safe :(
@TheVeganTravelShow
@TheVeganTravelShow 2 года назад
Hey! Thanks for watching, we’re glad you enjoyed the tour and we’re also super jealous that you get to go there soon. Have a wonderful time!! Take some hydralite with you just in case. There are so many delicious places to eat in Thailand. Happy Cow is a super helpful app because you can get a feel for the restaurants by the comments people have left with each restaurant. Street vendors & places where the food is sitting uncovered are more risky to eat from. It’s kind of like eating something you made but left on the kitchen bench for a few hrs first. Street food is often much cheaper though and fun to try so it’s sort of a trade off. If you want to try a street vendor pay attention to how busy they are as generally the more popular vendors serve fresher food. With kids be sure to explore all the fun places and if you can find some reviews on google or Happy Cow that will be your best bet. ✌️

Hi Is it easy to find ecological grown vegetables, fruits and nuts in supermarkets or markets in Thailand ?
@TheVeganTravelShow
@TheVeganTravelShow Год назад
The organically grown and pesticide-free fruit and veggies are well marked at supermarkets and usually more expensive. We remember seeing lots of different organic veggies and fruits at the Gourmet Market Siam Paragon in BKK, which is a minute walk from Siam BTS station… relatively accessible from anywhere in the city. We do remember seeing some roadside stalls in Chiang Mai just outside the old town (city centre) selling organic veggies and fruits for much cheaper than the supermarkets but I don’t recall seeing many in Bangkok. Thanks for the question. We hope this helps ✌️

Thank you for the video. It Would be so nice to see the street vendors using paper and not plastic😔 why in Bali do they use more paper. How about banana leaves etc..
@TheVeganTravelShow
@TheVeganTravelShow 2 года назад
Thanks for watching!! There are a lot of places that do use sustainable packaging, but I think for those that don’t it is probably just that plastic containers are cheaper to buy and easy to store in bulk. We would love to see a more sustainable approach in Asian countries that’s for sure!

Be careful, sometimes they use milk and egg powder into their curries and noodles.
@TheVeganTravelShow
@TheVeganTravelShow 2 года назад
Yes that’s right. It can be hit and miss sometimes but in our experience it is best practice to use a translator app or ‘V-Cards’ to clarify with restaurant staff of dietary requirements when travelling in places with a language barrier. Staff are usually happy to accomodate to their customers.

The fact that vegetarian restaurants in Thailand make those dishes. having the appearance of meat It's because of marketing reasons which may make it look appetizing to attract other customers. that does not use vegetarian to taste In a year there will be a vegetarian festival for 10 days.
@TheVeganTravelShow
@TheVeganTravelShow 3 года назад
We would love to experience the vegetarian festival (Tesagan Gin Je Festival) in Bangkok someday. If we can travel to Thailand next year, we will go & make a video about it. Usually we don't enjoy the 'mock' meat foods, but we do eat it occasionally. We definitely prefer vegan foods made using just veggies and Tofu! Thanks for watching 🙏

@@TheVeganTravelShow I used to live in Asia for 12 years. 1 advice, try to go to nice places where not a lot of tourists go. Foods and everything else will be so much cheaper and tastier (: I saw your other video where you complained about your jackfruit burger. It is because that restaurant was built for tourists so it doesn't taste good and it is expensive. You need a very smart guide that will guide you to nice, cheap, clean, and tasty places (:
