When holier than thou vegans start freaking out about house pets, that really highlights how insane and irrational their movement is. It doesn't take into account the way the world actually is and how people actually finction. Like... What would be done with the hundreds of millions of house pets? Release them into "the wild" to starve?
Exactly! It's been ingrained into many animals for thousands of years to rely on humans for survival. If they were dumped out in the wild, it would be a death sentence.
My best friend is vegan and I'm not. She's never made it my problem that I eat meat. Sure, we'll tease each other, but within reason and the boundaries we have in place. Are there issues in the meat industry? Absolutely. That doesn't mean that yelling at people will get them to change their ways. It's a systemic issue. She really should be focusing her attention on making legislative change instead of yelling at people online.

Wherever a vegan calls me out, eating a steak or lamb or fish. They say, "You eat meat, but you wouldn't never eat a human." I say, "Presumptuous of you to think that way. You would be wrong." They say we taste like pork. All I say treat the animals with respect & care before hand. Better than we treat each other.
I would be fine with eating human, but it turns out we get this disease that can drive us crazy (I fogot what it's called, but it's simething to do with prions). I do know it happens onky when you eat a specific part of a human, but I'm paranoid about cross contamination.

I do sort of agree with her sentiment of educating yourself about the horrors of food preparation in the modern world, it’s why I made myself get through watching the Dominion documentary because I felt I wasn’t morally able to eat meat without knowing where it came from. But lo and behold, I watched it, and I still eat meat

As a Jewish person, I find it horrible that if my great grandparents never moved to a different country, I wouldn't be alive. I look at my grandpa and mom and it hurts knowing I would never know them.

vegan teacher's point that killing animals is the same as killing people is wrong because when animals are slaughtered, it's done in a humane way that makes the animal feel no pain. For example, I read chickens are hung upside down so they are put in a sleepy state when they are getting slaughtered
while that is not always true, it is true for certain brands and certain cultural traditions! kosher and halal meats are both great cultural examples of this. for literally thousands of years humans have cared quite a bit about respectfully and humanely putting down the animals they consume. vegan teacher has no consideration of this, and is just pushing people to push them and saying things she's not informed about to make people upset, but it is worth noting that outside of modern factory farming there has been some variation of a code of honor in most cultures regarding animals for basically as long as we've been existing. even sane vegans who'd continue not eating meat with this knowledge tend to be aware of this but she's not them lol

when i was in hs, i wanted to be a vet. my freshman year, i started a club about animal rights. we were organizing a drive to collect supplies for animal shelters, when i had a revelation; there were HUMANS without food, without shelter. it made my passion shift to wanting to help people in need. the animals are important, but if it came down to saving a kitten or a baby... But in a lot of her videos she talks about how teenagers should go vegan and how young people are getting bullied because of it. She probably saw how south park is popular among teenagers around the age of 15 and thought she'll get further into making people join her vegan cult by using characters from the show, even though shes completely oblivious to the fact that south park makes fun of vegans often.

The funniest thing is that, the first thing she said, "if someone stole dog's milk or her puppies, people would be upset" ive both milked a dog(because one of her puppies had nerve damage in her throat from birth and couldn't drink it normally) and sold her puppies (once they were 10 weeks old) and guess what? The mother did not care. A few weeks after the puppies are weaned the mother stops caring as much, and is okay with them going to new homes, and if the mother dog trusts you, she doesn't care if you milk her. Ive also milked a female dog to releive pressure. "Stealing" her milk was beneficial to the dog in that scenario!

Plants are very complicated organisms. Did you know that they recognize each other? Mother plant protects her child plant and feeds it, plants warn each other about the predators, so that the neighboring plants produce juice that tastes disgusting for them, they send messages to each other via mushroom network under the surface of the ground etc? Its just that their nervous system is built in a different way, but it has very similar functions like nervous system of an animal.
To be fair, they're only like that because humans bred them not to shed their wool. In a lot of places people are paid by the number of sheep they shear not the hour, so they have to rush shearing the sheep and it can really hurt them. On sanctuaries it's not so much a problem.
They also believe that pet ownership is wrong and if you leave your dog in the yard, they show up and kidnap the dog, and then euthanize it. They're beyond depravity.
Nature didn't design an animal that would die painfully if humans didn't shear them, animal agriculture did. That's why vegans are against the industry and think they should stop breeding sheep to have that trait, of course though on sanctuaries we do shear the sheep. A lot of farms the workers are rushed so they do end up hurting the sheep while shearing them, it can be abusive. Pet ownership is mainly a problem because breeding, but a lot of vegans run pet shelters because the dogs are here and need homes. As for that I think that's a thing that was going around about peta, I don't know if it's true and we don't claim them lol.

Of course eating it isn't the problem, it technically is supporting the terrible inhumane conditions, since the meat most people eat is made through those conditions, and they make more specifically so you can eat it. they're corporations that earn billions a month it's extremely hard to get them to stop or even reform. It seems she had changed her teaching style from a singing relaxed teacher to one that made everything about veganism. Like every assignment with kids in middle school learning English as a second language. Parents complained and I imagine she made the adminstration and the board crazy and she was fired.

She’d come up with the conclusion that lab grown meat, which are also _living_ cells, are being mistreated because they are alive and being eaten. But yes, lab grown meat is much better when it comes to not harming the animal, cells are also not really considered to have feelings, only a few miles away from the border of alive and dead, but always remember, this is the Vegan Teacher we’re talking about.

I had ducks and chickens as a kid (my dad raised them for eggs) and they have no cognitive thought behind those eyes at all. They will do anything to hurt themselves or each other and the only self preservation they have is that they can run. And not very fast.

I have had multiple people call me out for eating meat when i spoke out about animals rights and how poorly we treat them. I have chronic illness and need to eat meat or else I would be on copious amounts of supplements and have bad quality of life overall. These people don't know that there is a difference between harm reduction and complete abstininence from anything harmful ever. It's okay and in the right to preach about things that are wrong, but you don't get to assume the morals of the person if they won't see it in their lifestyle, There are other people in the world WHO CARE but being forceful/judgemental is definitely not the way to go about it. I eat meat all the time and I don't like how factory farm animals are treated. There is a difference in raising animals for meat in a circumstance that is happy and comfortable for them and giving them a quick humane end when the time comes and keeping them in circumstances that are torture for them all/most of their lives before ending them. But that is the problem with most vegans, they make being vegan the central part of their identity and no one else is interested and finds it boring and a bit insane that what you choose to eat somehow has become the sum of who they are...that's really genuinely pitiful.
I had to go vegan 11 years ago due to health issues (allergic to dairy and hormones in meat). This vegan teacher is exactly why I hate telling new people I can't have things because I'm vegan. Most people think of her or people like her and immediately harass me. I've had people purposely mess with my meals because they were upset. I just want to exist, not deal with people like her. Thanks for covering this Oompa. Plant based/ dietary vegans don't claim her.
