Vegeta giving Nappa a chance to leave alive first before killing him just shows Vegeta has come along way since being the absolute ruthless and merciless saiyan warrior that he was in the saiyan saga

If vegeta hadnt purposly antogonized him he could have been spared. Thats what i hate about how they did the saiyans in dragonball, raditz and nappa were sparable in the continuity of dragonball and i dont see how NOBODY thought of reviving them to work things out, especially vegeta. After the androids i'd think seeing so many super saiyans would have vegeta think even the trash could be useful again, especially nappa who already was a lapdog...but goku? Raditz whole thing was acting subserviently to vegeta. The whole reason he acted the way he did was because he was afraid of vegeta or frieza killing him. So his entrance to seeing goku as a nice earthing irked him because he DID care about him because he's his brother, but saw him as a liability at the moment. And he wasnt wrong, that goku would get faded immediately by vegeta during that time and it shows when goku first encountered him. I dont think raditz ever really tried to kill goku, but to beat him into submission to force him to work with him and be a bloodthirsty saiyan again. He wanted goku strong, like any brother would, but was killed. How, in, the, fu*k did goku never think of bringing him back to life at any point...they totally could have worked things out between each other at a certain point, especially with both frieza and vegeta out of the picture. Raditz could have been shown he didnt need to be evil to be strong, but never got the chance.
They don’t get stronger if they are dead since they can’t train in the hell version of the other world, that’s why Nappa is still the same, for others villains, they are given a back story of something that changed them before they do encounter the z fighters
In GT he killed him because after all these years Nappa hadnt changed at all he was stagnet and as the protector of Earth vegeta knew he couldn't live peacefully
I hate this scene because it has so much potential if they just had a conversation about how far Vegeta has come and Nappa could either see the error in his ways and begin to change or hulk out and get killed and Vegeta saying he lost control would have weight instead of being a random line.
I still to this day can't get why vegeta had to kill nappa on of the very last survivals of his kind especially when toriyama demonstrated vegeta's affection for saiyans throughout the series
Saiyans think different than humans. Other saiyans are often seen as simple competition and they barely ever feel compassion or such like. The saiyan race peaks with the individual who stands above them all, in this case Vegeta IS everything there is to see about the saiyans (apart from Goku, of course).
