I always tough that matriarch was too different from the previous work of the band and with too much clean vocals (for a band that had none before). But this is the perfect balance of the two world imo

i got the feeling that the good music era ( In my opinion ""read this again if you dont understand it "" of 2006 is slight coming back and touching its finest glory years of music production, 2013 2014 2015 were expiremental years in the metal comunity , and muscians were striving creativily and following labels path to promote trends, bc lets ne honest labels really dont care about music to them its just a product; in those years of 2013 ;14,15,16 mixing cleans wasnt so popular since many bands started experimenting cleans and even the heavists band which caused alot of controversy like suicide silence. the comunity had alot critics but now its like artists are returning to their roots and mixing the new era and its getting well balanced, ""fuck you sumerian records good thing darkest hour are doing what they want , labels are too forcy with bands if they only realise that what the people want is the essence of a band and not a fucking trend ;
