cant get everythign right. I've been on maybe 80 different rollercoasters. Basically, everything in florida and the NY metro area. This one is probably in my 1 or 2 spot after Kingda ka IMO. Really intense whole way through. I've never been on a giga though, so I imagine I will like those more if I ever get to I305, or fury 325.
@@eggypatrick5875 I probably read that wrong, I thought you were asking for a ranking, hahaha. If we're going by sheer intensity, I would give it a 7. The airtime moments might be much for some, and the top hat drop isn't as bad as it looks, but might still throw people off. It just depends on what you like, haha.
@@3godzilla3 ohhhhhhhh... ok, hmmm, that makes me feel slightly better, still scared tho. I might give it a chance the next time I go, but I know I’ll probably chicken out right before I enter the queue, as per usual. Thx tho
From someone who designs coasters, pacing of the first test run depends on the manufacturer. RMC's have a flat, solid track leading to minimal friction, whereas Intamin's track design leads to sound waves bouncing inside the track, creating a frictional vibration in early testing. However I totally agree with you in that longer trains does lead to less whip, and it is hot in Florida. I think the pacing will not live up to expectations, but will also not be as slow as currently. And also one of Intamin's testing protocols is rollbacks, so most of these rollbacks are probably on purpose, although I can't be sure! Great video, and I hope people will enjoy VelociCoaster for what it is when it opens to the public!
@@rollercoasterryan7816 I really like roller coasters and would love to design them one day so how did you start designing roller coasters. Also what kind of qualifications do you need to get a job as a roller coaster designer.
6:15 those rollbacks were on purpose to test what speeds cause rollbacks so they can anticipate them based on how fast it enters launch 2 and how fast it leaves launch 2
I went on it once and the first launch at the beginning was seriously disappointing. Like the launches on hagrids felt faster. I don’t get the hype at all. It’s either it wasn’t running how it should be or it’s just not as good as people say. I was sat in the middle on the right hand side. It was just a basic coaster to me.
@@amberodendaal74 ur a casual for saying this 🤣. Yep Velocicoaster seems pretty basic to me too not like its my #1 coaster after an absolutely amazing night ride (Over Steve and Gwazi). You probably should have ridden it more than once because from experience only riding something one ti,me wont get you an accurate depiction of the ride and after a couple rides its almost always the case where the ride is better than the first time you rode it.
Would love to see what you think now that people have actually been riding it. I haven’t heard a single complaint about it being slow, and people say the airtime is crazy.
Honestly, I'm fully with you on this one. The pacing looks off. I'm extremely doubtful of it's airtime moments being strong, aside from the top hat from the extreme ends of the train. And I do think this could push the coaster down a bit in the rankings. That being said, taking the inversions slow will lead to better hangtime, and I could very easily see those moments becoming some of the best moments of the ride.
@@Coastoons Yep. I could see this coaster feeling a bit like Copperhead Strike but a bit faster and less consistent between the elements. Good "hanging" elements, like the dive loop, zero-g roll, and zero-g stall, and the occasional good airtime moment but with them few and far between. Copperhead is definitely a good coaster but it's not really competing with something like Fury or Steel Vengeance. Still my favorite launched coaster of the ones I've been on though (note: that does not include Maverick, but does include Lightning Rod) I need to look at Velocicoaster element-by-element with the speed it's going at and make a prediction as to how good they'll be (and post it somewhere). I remember making personal predictions with Orion but didn't post them anywhere, and I called the "wave turn" lacking airtime or forces before it opened, but since I didn't post them anywhere I didn't get to bask in the tiny glory of being right on the internet. That being said, I didn't expect the helix to be intense like everyone is saying it is.
@@Shad0w_Z Looking at the reviews, yeah, it seems I was wrong. And I hadn't posted a full prediction, so I can't say that I called that roll being a great part of the ride.
We’ve known this for a while.... Ever since some of the g forces were disclosed... I expect it to get better, but rides like maverick and even pantheon might be better in my eyes. Still anticipate potentially rising this, though if I want to do that it needs to open by April which is unlikely.
For me the only thing that puts this over pantheon is the theming. Unless pantheon just blows this out of the water when it tests with pacing I still think I would enjoy velocicoaster more. But pantheon layout is possibly better.
@@Coastoons Yeah I mean Better layout when I say Pantheon Is Better IMO. Though Velocicoaster is way longer and more sustained. Agains, it’ll be a little faster than the tests like max force was, but not by too much.
@@Coastoons yeah I have to say I disagree and agree with you at the same time, because I mean look at Hagrids that wasn't a big thrill but the theming brought it up and also let's say the queue is also good that theming is what is like mostly anticipated by a bit like maybe the theming is like expected to be 51/100 through 75/100 the 51 and 75 is the percentage of the theming expected let's say, at least that is what I think, because theme parks focus on thrills but more on theming it literally has theme in the name, Amuesment parks on the other hand focus more on thrills and less on theming, yeah you will see a bit of theming but not like a lot.
One thing I can say with it’s testing is Florida has been pretty cold throughout the past couple of months. Iron Gwazi tested in March when it was 85+ degrees. It’s first few test runs ran in below 50 degrees. It will get faster throughout the summer but that really can be said for every coaster in existence, and a lot of the rollbacks are purposely tested we can see when you look back at really any launch coaster testing, but this was a great video!
I just rode it today. I can assure you... it does NOT disappoint. The ride provides so much hang time. It doesn’t have to go fast for it to be good. It goes at a slowish twisting pace for the first half where you are supposed to be inside the raptor paddock. It focuses more on head chopper elements with the rocks and even the raptor statics. The second half starts at the top hat element where it focuses more on speed. It’s a great combination of immersion and coaster. It’s arguably the best coaster in FL. I see your point about it being super hyped up that may lead to disappointment. Though I feel like it serves its job. It’s not supposed to be a behemoth like Fury 325. It’s supposed to be a thrilling ride fully immersing guests into Jurassic World.
You probably can't even count the amount of "This aged like milk" comments on this video lol. Also, remember this. Empty trains with bad pacing during testing does NOT mean bad pacing. The heavier it is, the faster it goes.
i understand this aged poorly *BUT* i think this was worded about as well as possible. saying “you can still be hyped but it’s not the best coaster in the world” or “this can’t possibly satisfy the hype it’s been getting” it kinda did but that’s besides the point… i still respect the video.
Naw this is another miss man. Bruh I just rode it TWICE front and back row. This ride hauls and it has pretty good pacing. The airtime insane!!! The way it whips you around on the inversions blew my mind. The front row is amazing if you want to feel all the launches. ITS NOT AS SLOW AS IT WAS WHEN TESTING THIS MESS IS AN AMAZING COASTER. You need to ride the coasters before you talk trash. Cuz this coaster is a top coaster in Florida atleast top 5.
This is accurate. If you watch a POV of VelociCoaster, people are screaming nonstop from beginning to end. Watch a POV of Maverick, and everyone's having a conversation on the lift hill. To a casual audience, VelociCoaster is insane. If it was at Cedar Point, it would fit right in.
@@bobbyc1120 even at cedar point or at any six flags park I wouldn't consider it an extreme coater. Screaming doesn't mean it's extreme. I hear some people screaming on Disney's Seven Dwarfs mine train as well.
@@Patibens My point was more about the audience than the ride itself. People scream on VelociCoaster because people ride it who would never travel all the way to Cedar Point.
i honestly thought the thing the first time i watched it, i was like doesn’t it seem a little slow? but when i went to the park in real life and saw it up close it seemed faster, idk i’m still pretty excited for it and hopefully it will slow down the rush for hagrids because hagrids is an amazing ride too
Same thing happened to me with Nemesis at Alton Towers. People were saying it's the best coaster in the world so I went in thinking it would surpass coasters in my top 5 at the time such as Revolution, Oblivion, Smiler and Nemesis Inferno. But it barely scratched my top 10, placing pretty significantly below all of those. High expectations is a recipe for disaster.
Ok so they r purposely not putting it at max because they dont want to wear it out in the testing stage and it's just testing. I haven't seen its top speed of 70mph. So dont judge a book by its cover. Hagrid has a long train and great pacing. This new roller coaster will have great pacing and its just testing. Thank you for listening. Sorry if this comes across rude
i’ve never been on a big coaster. my biggest coaster is probably big thunder mountain at disney world. i’m not scared of them, i’m just not a fan of that sinking feeling when going down drops. however, velocicoaster has caught my attention and i want to go this summer to ride it along with other coasters like hulk as my first big coasters
To all of the babies that can’t tell that this was 5 months ago and opinions change with literally everything else in the world, then please click on his channel and watch the updated analysis of this roller coaster. I personally saw a lot of valid points in both videos so just check out the other one before crying in the comment section
The pacing is slow on Velocicoaster without passengers, but because it’s trains have more capacity, if it’s at full capacity the ride will be quicker. Take this into consideration and look at some of the Off-ride POV’s with either water weights or passengers. This small change makes a huge difference
While it does look slow now, it's probably best to go with the "wait and see" approach. As an engineer, testing goes thru various phases. It's still touted to be 70mph top speed and none of the testing looks to be 70mph, yet! I've done flight testing on helocopters and we always build up to Vmax. And with this having two controlled launches, lets just wait.
Honeslty, kondaa, and Iron Gwazi, Pantheon, and Velocicoaster, have been going up and down on my hype train soooo honestly I can see what u are saying tho.
We just rode this this past week. I can’t say whether or not it’s “the best coaster in the world”. But it IS the best coaster I’ve ever ridden. The experience was almost without flaws.
Thanks for the shout out! VelociCoaster definitely wont hold a candle to some of the world's greatest coasters, but it'll definitely stand a chance against what is (and was) at Universal Orlando. I think fans are just happy to see a real thrill coaster come back to the parks, and if it has a chance to be as good or better than Dueling Dragons, fans will be happy. I think this will be the perfect coaster to round out Universal's line up. They have at least one coaster for everyone now, and paired with their other attractions, now there's genuinely something for everyone, and ultimately, that's what Universal needs. Side note though, I honestly feel like VelociCoaster will live up to the hype better than Iron Gwazi will. People are expecting the next Steve but in Tampa, and although its going to be an insane ride, it won't compare. Steel Vengeance is twice as long and will most likely have well over twice the airtime as Iron Gwazi without sacrificing its pacing and layout. Again, don't get me wrong, Iron Gwazi will be amazing (and probably the best coaster in Florida) but it won't live up to the hype of dethroning one of the world's greatest coasters.
Actually there are plenty of enthusiasts that feel like Iron Gwazi is better than SV. Even if there are enthusiasts saying that SV will remain the best coaster in the world, They may change their mind after they ride Iron Gwazi. I think it's going to come down to preference. If you're into balls to the wall intensity with back-to-back elements non-stop with no brakes in between then I think enthusiasts will lean towards iron Gwazi. If you're an enthusiast that likes airtime and a lengthy roller coaster with less positives, then SV would be ideal. You can argue that SV has that out of control feeling however the elements tend to get repetitive especially towards the end. Iron Gwazi on the other hand throws so many different things at you and each element is different from the other. Therefore I feel like the consensus may be split within coaster community on weather SV or IG is better. Which is fine because in my opinion there is no definitive number one coaster. Because there's always going to be a large group of people that think otherwise.
@@2kthrills168 Coaster opinions are all subjective! Thats one of the best things about the parks. Everyone likes different rides for different reasons, and no one's subjective opinion is wrong. It just means that we get to experience rides differently when we're with different people.
I think you're incorrect about the speed aspect. I may or may not have heard from a Velocicoaster tech that it's currently testing at about 75% of its potential speed. I'm a stranger on the internet, so take what you hear with a grain of salt, but I think you might see some changes.
Hopefully there are some changes. If it went 100% then that combined with the layout would make a really strong coaster. However I dont know if they would for reliability reasons
My main argument is that legit no one has been on this roller coaster, so why are we judging what the ride is going to feel like? Yes we can assume things, but none of us know what its actually going to feel like.
Definitely not THE best coaster out there but man, after 11 and a half rides this thing exceeded my expectations. I'd been following development since survey markers and flags were first spotted. Maybe I didn't expect as much as some other people but they were still high and completely blown out of the water. I will say that I last rode it 3 weeks ago so I can't speak for it's current launch speeds and pacing but when I rode it, it hauled pretty quick through the course not giving me much time to recover from each element. I got way more airtime and hangtime than I expected and that's what matters to me so it is one of the best coasters I have been on. We'll see how time treats it.
I’ve been on Velocicoaster recently, and I don’t think it feels slow. It doesn’t whip too much but it feels extremely smooth, which is probably what they’re going for. Universal is ultimately a family themepark, and many inexperienced coaster riders will be riding. They have to play it safe so they don’t end up with complaints of soreness and nausea. However, I don’t think this necessarily hurts the coaster. The terrain and numerous arches the track passes though creates an insane feeling of speed, especially with the spiked rocks facing the track, so it keeps you on the edge of your seat like you’re going to get impaled. It’s a great coaster and near my favorite at universal (I just love Rip Ride Rocket and blasting the music while riding)
The rollbacks are done in testing to ensure that the safety systems that engage in the event of a rollback work and the train can rescue itself. Taron has a rollback test every week, where the second launch engages at half the speed.
The first thing I said when I saw some of the test runs was “Why does the pacing look slow?” Ultimately, if the pacing is bad for something like the double helix, this ride will not be as good as everyone is hoping.
As a person who just rode this during Passholder previews, I will say it did not disappoint. It feels fast and with the lack of over the shoulder restraint it feels much more intense. It does have one or two sections that whip you pretty well, which I personally don't like. I think some coaster fans think whipping is cool when it actually feels jerky to many normal non coaster fanatics. The queue was great, pretty minimalist when it comes to materials used, but its done well. The animations in the queue are great. I honestly do think this is one of the best coasters out there because of the theming. It probably wont be your favorite if you think a good coaster is based on how extreme it is. By far the most well themed coaster I've ever been on.
I could be wrong, but I think the first half is going to be more floater airtime than hangtime, with the second half really being the star of the show. A lot of the vids of the first half with fully loaded trains seem faster too...additionally, it probably will feel faster than it is due to all of the rockwork/theming elements you're flying through/around - it's one thing to watch from outside the paddock, but diving through everything and in and out of the caves is really going to add to that sensation of speed. I'm intrigued by what it'll be like going from highly themed spaghetti bowl to the larger elements of the 2nd half too!
The train hardly makes it over the air time hill right before the 2nd launch, i noticed this in one of Midway Mayhems vids, also looking at the speed hill, it barely isnt straight track imo
I think It’s ok. I think it had the ability to do so much more in the story department. Like the amount of foreshadowing of the velociraptors being these cunning hunters didn’t really play into the entire Jurassic World aesthetic. Something has to go wrong. Roller coaster is lit as hell. Just thought a bit more story elements would make it amazing.
I think for many coaster enthusiasts this ride will disappoint simply because the elements aren't going to be as intense as they expected. That being said, I think a good chunk of enthusiasts will actually be blown away by this coaster thanks to the level of theming and on-ride audio. I know going into Hagrid the first time, hearing it was a family coaster, I wasn't really expecting much. But the theming and unique trains provided a coaster experience unlike any other, worthy of my top 10. If Intamin and Universal can pull off something even close to the quality of Hagrid, this will be an elite coaster for enthusiasts who really love theming.
I agree with the overhyped part of your argument, but there are some points I disagree with. The ride is currently testing. A lot of launch coasters wait to launch at full speed until kinks are worked out, but who really knows. Also, the rollbacks are also probably part of the testing process and the ride should be able to self reset anyway like copperhead strike. Also, remember that maverick had its heart line roll removed for a reason. This one is a large improvement. Even if it is slowly paced and thoosies might be upset, the GP is going to love it which will make is a successful ride. Hopefully it doesn’t have any huge technical problems.
I am ok with sacrificing speed for more guests per hour, less waiitng times beat anything. As long as they don't use a stupid ass reservation app system, I don't mind if it's slower than It's A Small World.
The pacing is off because there is no people riding, the weight makes the ride faster. Also the ride is still being tested and constructed. You can't judge a ride this early.
I think you hit the nail on the head!!!! The FIRST thing I thought to myself was this train is too long and the pacing looks off. I’m not the biggest fan of Iron Gwazi’s elements, as I think they could be better but it WILL be a top coaster simply because of its pacing.
The length makes sense because it universal but at the same time, if they knew they were gonna have super long trains they should have designed less tight elements so the pacing wouldn't suffer
Boy that didn’t age well. I genuinely think this ride is the best in the world and that SteVe and Iron Gwazi won’t hold a candle due to restraints and layout.
This is why I never participate in hype. I didn't know the layout of Untamed until 2 hours before I rode it, a lot of people were dissappointed that day but I came out absolutely shellshocked. People give Cyberpunk a bad time because of a few bugs and optimization issues, I'm glad I can even run it. The only thing I'm genuinely hyped for is F.L.Y. But since I know what Phantasialand is capable of I can safely set *some* level of expectation without being dissappointed.
That's besides HüK maybe the only coaster you can overhype XD. These new Vekomas are pretty good coasters but they are not as intense as intamins or BMs even though they might be better they can get overhyped easier
@@limonscore And by "Hyped" I don't mean that I expect it to be the best coaster ever built. It'll just be my very first flying coaster, and my 100th credit so I just hope that it's a good coaster. That is all.
I legit almost fell out, and I never felt safe the entire ride.. But, Velocicoaster is the fastest rollercoaster I've ever ridden. I've rode roller-coasters for over 25 years. That being said, I'll never ride this coaster again unless the fix the restraint system.
Well, if you look at the latest amusementinsider video you can clearly see how much faster it runs with dummies... so tbh I don't think we can judge the pacing yet. Also keep in mind that all other intamin blitz coasters have much shorter trains.
I agree, it will not be as fast and intense as everybody hoped. It reminds me of Hyperion, everybody thought it would be so great, but it turned out not to be as intense as expected.
Yeah I was actually going to bring that up in the video but I feel like there haven't been enough people that have voiced their opinions on hyperion to say anything about it because I havent been on it
Well looking at it velocicaster and iron gwazi go head to head it’s kinda interesting velocicaster is kinda over hyped and off the ride looks like a family coaster it may seem fast on ride but off it’s not as speedy as you think but iron gwazi hasn’t opened and was supposed to be opened way before velocicoster what do you’ll think?
I originally thought this was gonna be one of THOSE videos of people saying it will be bad for the stupidest reasons. But being honest... this guy made some REAL GOOD POINTS. I totally agree with what he said!
I completely agree about the speed but I also don’t think it’s had a full speed launch yet. Kinda impossible to tell. Also got to say like a few others that the rollbacks were forced. Maybe to test emergency systems or braking on the second launch whilst travelling the wrong way. Who knows.
I definetely agree. Even though K love the hype surrounding these coasters, you have to be realistic! Thanks for being An honest channel that speaks it's mind!
You're talking about the pacing as if it was a mistake on intamins part and that it was meant to go faster. I agree it looks slow, but it was most definitely designed to be at this speed. They knew exactly how the coaster would pace before the first footer was even put in the ground. If they wanted it to be faster, it would be faster.
I think the reason it’s so hyped is the theming. The closest large scale coaster with world class theming is Taron. This is the American version of Taron, and also the Jurassic Park fans (me) are the real hypers! And understandably so. I’m sure the JP fans aren’t going to care that much about the pacing, the fact that we are riding a coaster themed to the Jurassic Park/World is already a top bucket list coaster for me
Considering what rides are in Universal it doesn't surprise me. I think the nature of Universal rides are to not bee too intense/appeal to most while having great theming, which I think this ride will do very well. Also, the faster you're going the less you can see all the intricate theming. I'm just as much of a thrill seeker as the next enthusiast and would love this ride to have faster pacing but when Intimin told Universal they could have longer trains to reduce ride intensity AND increase riders/hr universal was probably all for it.
Let see, everything about this video was completely wrong. Got off the coaster a few days ago and it was more thrilling than any other coaster I’ve been on except Fury 325 and Lightning Rod (I haven’t gotten around to Steel Vengeance).
Hi, from the UK. Yes, agreed it's over hyped, but i think it will still be a great overall ride though, and the themeing looks awesome. But i think Iron Gwazi, over at BG Tampa, will be Florida's best coaster? I love Mako, Montu, and Intamin did a great job with Hagrids Motorbike, even though that is more of a family coaster.
I agree that the first half looks horribly slow, and this defintiely won't be an airtime machine. But I'm actually not mad at the heartline roll at all. RMC and Intamin have spent so long pushing boundaries that (in my opinion), we've begun crossing the line from Intense to Uncomfortable on a lot of attractions, and I think slowing down that roll a little bit puts the ride on the right side of the line.
