Geez. SEMA is October 25th for those who don’t know. That is one hell of a time crunch to finish this car. I’ve seen B is For Build do some crazy stuff over my last 2 years of watching. So I believe in you!

I own a V70 VOLVO(4X4)with a re-done 5 cyl Turbo,when I did all my wiring harness for the dash(gages) and "the "rest".......I had salvaged 12V small computer and laptop fans,and installed them everywhere I think it was needed,so they would ventilate(even my home made center console),fuse boxes...etc,and of course two powerful plate size extractor fans(with heat sensors in the engine bay)with hood vents and gages on my console(with a switch)...On a home build.......cooling is"key".....!!!

When you see videos like this, you just have to appreciate all the engineering that went into building engine like that.

This build is like the opposite of the Bad Obsessions build where they have the entire uni-body sorted first and stuffing the drivetrain that doesn’t fit comes in bit by bit- Chris goes the full American on it and stuff the tiny body over the drivetrain that doesn’t fit so maybe it has floor boards and a fire wall.... maybe. Good watch either way.

Erics done a superb job with radiator support.

Running without MAF is called speed density mode where it uses a preprogrammed map of volumetric efficiency based on rpm and MAP pressure readings, modified by intake temp. This worked for my old 95 camaro and my s54, I would hope the s85 is no different.

This thing looks absolutely gorgeous man. You've come a long way... I gotta be honest, when you announced this build I didn't think it was possible. I'm a big fan of Z cars (just sold my 300zx TT). I can't wait to see this around Portland!!

the hose you were talking about that you don't know about seems to be the crankcase breather. to allow the crankcase to "breathe" check if there's oil inside if yes then that's it. and also i would recommend you to change it, now that there seems to still be room

I think you need the MAP sensor (I don’t know where it’s located on this engine, but generally it’s on the plenum) to run MAFless. In the ecu, reads the MAF to read air flow, or it goes into sort of a limp mode which uses speed density method (p*V=m*R*T). You need inlet pressure p and temperature T.

ECS is just trying to recover from getting blasted on the internet for being a shitty business hahaha

I keep going back and forth as to whether that tower brace will do very much. I can't wait for this thing to be finished. Gonna be so sexy.

Those hoses around the intake manifold area have the same sort of connectors as the CCV system on my E46.

Hey Chris, i believe that hose you didnt know where it goes might be for vapor recovery/vapor return line for the emisions system. I could be wrong.

I think you’re going to make it!! For anything that needs to be sealed up, but you don’t have the time, use foil tape for now, that gap from the firewall to the cowl, just tape it up.

Those hoses you were wondering about could be part of the secondary air injection system. Not 100 percent sure but those connections look very similar to other Volkswagens.

I believe those hoses that are open are oil return lines. If you had a catch can they would run to it. BMW runs then back to the engine and keeps the oil returning to the car. But I could be wrong.

Chris, you gotta have a floor, man. If you want, it can be made of a combo of carbon fiber and Kevlar, so it would be a bolt in, instead of weld in. Just saying. Remember, Las Vegas is notorious for that dry air and dust, so watch out for it.

I recommend ECS Tuning also. When I had my E38 I purchased almost everything from them.

I think you should have been doing "limited edition" shirts for each 100k subscribers you get. A run of a 100-150, signed shirts. Of course all $$ would go into the current project or possibly into a savings to eventually use when you reach whatever goal you've set for yourself. Anyways, thanks for the awesome content!

This is one of those builds that you: 1. Cant wait to see done and running 2. Never thought would get this far and look this great 3. Don't want to reach #1 because what the hell could possibly eclipse a full home grown frame and transplant of engine/trans/dash/starter button/axle/wire/etc. underneath one of the tiniest bodies possible. Keep the energy up. You and your crew are doin' it.

You need to do a full wire tuck, it will make the engine bay look 100000000X better

I know you already have your vision for the velocity stacks, but I thought it would be cool if they curved up so that they are all level with each other and just poked through the hood. Not above the hood but just at the same level with the hood, maybe even following the hoods contour. Just a thought, keep up the good work.

You do not want to drive it to SEMA without a floor and in limp mode. But it's easy for me to say, and I know you're pressed for time. I would wait and get everything right and pass on SEMA till next year. I think you would be glad you did.

Should have used an interlocking tube coupler for the radiator mount. It would have looked much cleaner than bolting it to the shock towers.

You should cut in the hood a hole along the v-stacks so more air but with the hood out a grill or a mesh that would look crazy cool and more air

I feel like maybe the core support should something bracing it against vertical stresses. I assume the hood clasp is going to be part of the core support and as the hood closes, or catches wind, it's going to stress the mounting points in the directions it's not strong against.

That small plastic goes to the intake manifold, which is gone... lol that’s the crank case vent.

On the booster pump you need to weld a tack on the back side of the tab a weld is weakest on its face. Im betting you could take your hand and just fold that tab over

Hey Chris, That line that you dont know what it is; I believe that's an intake vacuum line. My mini has the exact same hose and fitting and it's a vacuum line. Not sure if it's the same for the m5 but you never know
