It's great that these work with that too. Did you have to let them know that you have a SXTH intake? Does it have a different piece without the port that goes to the flap or does it come with a cover or plug?
@@jimsgaragetoysthey note on their website specifically about the SXTH intake that if you have it you only need the snorkel. All the other items are for use with OEM box.
Hey Jim, the gloss is from a chemical process called vapor smoothing, which is done to selective laser sintered plastics as a way to melt and smooth the outer surface, which helps seal it and prevent air leaks.
Thanks for the info, I still wish they did a matte finish over it. I imagine that many people will end up painting it a matte black. I may try that too.
I just ordered the K&N intake we will see how that goes! This was my second option thank you for posting and your road trip looked epic gope to catch you next time your in Southern oregon! 🙏🙂
@@KG_GRC I'll be in Coos Bay on 8/4 for Cars & Coffee at the Toyota dealer if you are interested in coming over. There will be a large group of us driving down from Vancouver, WA.
Interesting, I've seen other CE and Cores that had the gap too. Not that it mattered since the bottom and sides were wide open on the OEM piece too allowing hot air in.
Jim, thank you very much for making this comprehensive video and for the honest feedback. We truly appreciate it! Our instruction manuals can be found at the bottom of all product pages, as well as on the “Instruction Manuals” page on our site; we apologize for any confusion! We will take the matte color option into consideration, too. Once again, thank you!
@@velossatech113 I looked on the instruction manual page and the GR Corolla wasn’t listed, only the standard Corolla which has a completely different engine. I didn’t see the link on the product page until after the fact since it was at the very bottom of the page. I do love the product and I was just pointing out what seemed to be obvious misses even though they are smaller things.
@@jimsgaragetoys Understood! We do appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. Once again, thank you for the kind words and for making this detailed video!
Looks like an interesting product and thank you for making the video. Can you please leave your impression on the drive test.; Did you feel the extra "umph" from the seat of your pants?
I've driven it about 40 miles so far but I haven't put it through its paces. I expect to notice a small difference though since it has shown increases in HP on the dyno and just getting colder air into it and not hot air through the flap makes a difference.
Hi Jim, Thanks for this video! Around timestamp 14:11 you said you had a clip (for the left side fo the red piece - instead of going under and using a bolt). Can you share which speicific clip that is, please?
I always have a selection of plastic clips that you can buy on Amazon and eBay. They are cheap so I love having a variety since I never know what I might need, just like in this case! I'll add the one that will work in the description so you don't have to mess with the long bolt. amzn.to/4cLudw1
Nice thinking of getting this Velossa Tech kit. I currently have SXTH intercooler and full custom Aluminum charge pipes hot & cold side and my car make 303whp and 310tq on mustang dyno.. how do you like the velossa kit. Is it doing good job cooling and any issues with it.
@@mhk67091 I haven't driven it a lot since installing it but I'm seeing about 5F about ambient air temps. I didn't have my Scangauge hooked up very long before and didn't pay much attention to the intake air temps.
Literally the two parts you glossed over (seemingly on purpose) have taken me 40 minutes to figure out. The stupid ass reverse snap clip on the bottom of the airbox and the side grommet for the wire retention.
Not sure what you mean by the reverse snap clip on the bottom of the air box. There is nothing on the bottom of the air box other than the pins that locate it and line it up. The side grommet for the wire retention is much like a lot of the other Toyota clips. You need to depress both sides and it will pop right out. I've taken that off so many times in different videos I've done that I don't give it much thought now. The first time you are removing any clip can be the trickiest but once you figure out how they work you will be fine.
