With an oar frame you get much more power when pulling backward. Coming around the big rock on river left, I'd have my bow at about 45 degrees, facing downriver to river right and pulling hard upstream to the left to get to the green tongue on river left.
Yeah I never understand that. Especially at ~8000 cfs. 90 degrees to the current and pull people. Well they won’t have to worry about that pesky sneak line left of pyramid rock anymore. 😂 🪦Velvet 1.0.
.. I don't think the oarsman has the river reading ability nor the stroke skill needed here. He was all wrong from the get-go and wound up on the absolutely wrong line!
He had a chance to do a reverse 45 through that eddy line above pyramid but spun the wrong way, intentionally or not idk. It’s easy for me to armchair quarterback though if I wanted to hit a slot it seems common sense that you’d want to be closer to the bank above the move.
