Happy to share this song from my ongoing collaboration with Daniel Lanois! We’ve been recording an album together and will be playing some shows later on in the year, the first being at the Great Hall in Toronto May 31.
Stuff around the four minute mark sounds a lot like Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding, interesting to hear that drum pallete making a return this long afterwards.
Great Thanks, dear Aaron. I like to die, born, and dissociate in your having,calling,spelling,crying,trying,burning,blowing,growing,rising,dying,freezing,breaking,making,tracking,spanking,slashering,gathering,attractioning,lightning,breathing,crashing,crushing,trickle-flowing, apart- tearing, living and telling(about) the deepiest magickle spaces, which fragilest shivering fresh-flash-flesh distorte my sub- atomic structures and change my stoned lazy mind for new amazing points. Your Translation is the shy healing wisp of God for me. It is transpsychedelic expeirence in whole possible( for my consciousness) dimentions. You presenting me better being. Your gifts are so intimate and gracious, that i diving and searching it in all versions of my sober. Nothing, but bless and heart's thanks "from (toodamnfrozen)Russia with love".:)
I don't really understand how vsnares does this. A drum machine usually provides 16 beats/ticks (sry I don't really know my music vocab) to fill, I think. For a song like this he has to programm/design a drum pattern with some kind of software, that isn't looped in any way right? Wheres the use in a drum machine then, and why can't I see any pc around? Can someone help me?
Its complex programming/sequencing meant to trick the mind. He creates various patterns in the machine at a high bpm, uses various note repetitions and unusual note values, (half notes, quadruplets, triplets) intermingled with standard notes in various time signatures. Its all done in the machine.
Such crazy programming, for the life of me i can't figure out what any of those pads are triggering. 10 years ago i would've been convinced that it was all done on a computer. Gotta love Elektron gear. I think i know which one is triggering the high hats but beyond that it is pure witchcraft.
+vsnares I thought that if all tracks must be the same length in Machinedrum, then it must be a limiting factor rhythmically (unlike Analog RYTM). Is that not the case for Your workflow? Asking because I'll be buying one of those, and I'm still not sure which one should come first. Can You comment please? p.s. okay so it seems that MD isn't made for polyrhythms and has no conditional trigs and so on, and RYTM locks you into instrument-specific tracks and can't MIDI properly, so I'll hold my cash.
Pedal steel here’s a good rig rundown from a few years back: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N5x_lFyjJoQ.html just don’t ask me about VSnares’ gear!
It coalesces on my tip Learn one day to deal with it Lights dance still on the node Tips drift over my chode It wasn't always like this Nah We learned to deal And still, this
