Hard to understand the official version, when during its last administration, and as consecuence of it, 8 million venezuelan citizens decided to leave the country, as economic refugees.
The economic problems are caused by US sanctions which are designed to sabotage the economy so much that citizens will revolt. But most people have the common sense to recognize that the US is the bad guy here.
after more than 900 coercitive measures against the people of Venezuela (not the govt) - 929 medidas coercitivas unilaterales, that started with Obama Orden Ejecutiva 13692 el 8 de marzo de 2015
Think, what happens when you take 8 millions out of the voter base, they are the those who most likely are against Maduro. Venezuela are one of the most sanctions countries of the world, so people fleed. Karma is hitting the US, most illegal immigrants comes from US sanctions countries
The economy was sabotaged by US economic sanctions. The stated purpose of these sanctions is to make life so miserable for regular people that they revolt. It's a vile foreign policy, and you are blaming the victims.
Cuba,Nicaragua and Venezuela are also dictatorships they make themselves as the victims in those countries governments and by the Cuba has two blockades the another one is internal blockade which the Cuban government is restricting the Cuban people making hard to food and medicine and also they cut off the electricity in the country. And also another one blockade is the American government against Cuba but the American government also help the Cuban government and economy with by Food exports and tourism. And also in Nicaragua economy is a full with everything like supermarkets,Restaurants and food distribution for the whole country. And also in Venezuela there is a lot of classism and inequality their economy works out with other currencies like the US dollars,Euros,Brazilian Reals and Colombian Pesos. And also there parts of the country that there parts of people that are doing good and the other half of people that are struggling to making means ends. It’s happening everywhere in the world prices are going up, inflation, housing, healthcare, and problems with society. No countries in the world is no perfect they are have to deal with inflation, inequality and corruption. There’s a reason I guess why Venezuela in particular gets this treatment. The oil reserves. I don’t agree with their oil plans, and think they should be switching to renewables and degrowth, as should everyone else. But I get why they would go that way, at least up until recently where renewables became a more immediate necessity. It’s definitely been a massive poisoned chalice for them. And even if they did choose to keep it in the ground from now on, the US wouldn’t leave them alone unless they chose to take the climate seriously as well. So it really sucks for Venezuelans.
You are wrong. The US doesn’t need Venezuela’s oil, especially not now when we have fracking. Also, because of the comical incompetence of the chavistas, Venezuela’s oil infrastructure is dilapidated and inefficient - they are producing 1/4 of what they used to. But they can’t repair the infrastructure with the chavistas in power. They are broke, and they are not credit worthy b/c they have a nasty habit of not honoring their debts. The US interest in Venezuela is: 1. Humanitarian. Millions of lives have been wrecked by chavista malice and stupidity. 2. Regional stability. 7 million have fled Venezuela, and millions more will flee if Maduro’s flagrant fraud is allowed to stand. Other countries in LatAm are already overloaded with impoverished Venezuelans begging their street corners. Now they must get ready to receive even more 3. Stopping the influx of even more Venezuelans into the US
@@tomasarmon3005 To correct myself and clarify; it’s more about making sure Venezuela can’t make use of the oil through crippling sanctions. Prevent them from demonstrating to the world that socialism works. And that you can redistribute those oil revenues rather than it all going to private shareholders.
@@christill I’m sorry, you appear to be unfamiliar with Venezuela. The US does not have to do a thing to prove that socialism does not work. The Chavistas have done that all by themselves. They are as incompetent as they are evil. THEY have destroyed Venezuela, forcing millions to flee. But the real point here is that MADURO LOST. Or would you argue that the actual results should be cast aside?
@@tomasarmon3005 You're completely wrong in every way possible. Of course the US wants VZ's oil, they have one of the largest reserves in the world, and our economy is highly dependent on oil still. Fracking has always just been a transition, it's horribly inefficient and toxic, it should never have been allowed in the first place. It was only allowed because our politicians are bought by fossil fuel. Oil is the main reason the US interferes in the Middle East so much. The fossil fuel industry has bought every US politician, and sabotaged every effort to transition to a sustainable economy, because that would be less profits for them. Your 3 separate points are just one point; the US has intentionally caused a humanitarian crisis, intentionally destabilized VZ, and intentionally created the emigration of desperate Venezuelans via murderous sanctions designed to do just those things, in order to foment revolt. The State Dept. has admitted this through various memos that have been uncovered via the Freedom of Information Act. Everything you blame chavistas for is due to US sanctions. If Socialism can't succeed on its own, why does the US sanction every Socialist country? Well the memo tells us why, sanctions are openly sabotage.
The promise of the Carter Center was to be an objective, trustworthy observer of elections. Where are they in this and are they living up to their charter?
The Carter Center basically said the election was completely one sided, and non-democratic. They also said that Edmundo got the most votes and that the "government" must recognize that.

We should have a system like Venezuela, who use voter ID, fingerprints, electronic ballots with a paper receipt, observers from all parties participating in every stage of the process, with multiple audits. It may be the best system in the world. Hell of a lot better than US machines provided by private companies owned by relatives of politicians, using proprietary tech that no one can see if it's cheating or not.
